It’ll be interesting to see what Lions want for Neale. I think he’s still under contract, Cerra on the other hand isn’t.
Lions could really dig their feet in over this one and ask for something such as Freos first 2 in exchange for their first
I can’t see freo caring much either way.
It will Be on their terms or not at all.

Freo are a lost cause and will be bent over in any Neal deal

Brisbane have nothing to lose , If Neal does request a trade then that indicates that Fremantle have spoken to him and agreed there is interest. and Being a player with 2 years left on his contract then they pay the price.

Just need to look at the posts about Lobb and the freo supporters thinking he is worth 1st round pick if traded and were adamant a contracted player with 2 years left would get them a 1st rounder

Based on the above Brisbane could just say pick #6 you get from Carlton is what we want

This is where it gets interesting.

Is this about Neale or Freo? Who is pushing for it?

I don't see Neale as a priority for Freo. Not a pick 6 type of priority anyway.
They have Serong & Brayshaw,Pick 6 & 8.
If i was Freo i'd call Brisbane's bluff and see what happens cometh the 11th hour.

If the news is true and Neal does request a trade he would only be doing that with assurance that he gets there

If there is no interest fron Freo then Neal wouldn't request that

What events have triggered this?

Cerra leaving??

Lions failing??

Other behind the scenes manourvures?

Either way Neale signed a contract with the Lions and.....

The trouble for the Lions is they are in the now, and even if they let Neale go how do they sell the story to anyone else? At least with Neale they have a contract and after the contract they can still trade him and be entitled to crash down the ladder.

Zorko is not getting any younger either. Does Zorko go to Gold Coast?

Brisbane might be better to keep Neale organise a dishamrony collapse, trade Neale to Freo eventually, trade Zorko to Gold Coast and do a rebuild with the youngsters. Who would take Daniher? He is on three years..

Zorko is 32. Zorko signed a one year deal this year must have, no idea for how much.

This type of player movement has been forecast though which is why we are best to sit and wait for the cookies to crumble.

If supposedly Neale wants out how do Lions get others from afar to buy in? They should have a harder draw next year, do they look to the look to the future and compromise the now?

What does Harris Andrews do? Harris Andrews is 24, does he go to Gold coast eventually?

What bluff ?

Brisbane are very happy to keep him for the next 2 years

Lions can just say to both Neal & freo - Pick #6 or Neal stays for 2 years and plays for Lions
Brisbane is holding all the aces here

Freo have nothing to lose.

Sure Brisbane don't have nothing to lose except a player who while contracted has family issues.

Brisbane are actually the only team with anything to lose IMO.

They trade him for unders or they keep him and and he's unhappy.

What does Brisbane have to lose compared to Freo?

If Brisbane get better draft picks from going down the ladder is that not a win if they can't win it from Neales opinion anyway?

Just looks like movement within no mans land.

Some one let go a mortar and its now silent on the front again with no impasse

Does Freo want Neale more than Brisbane? Has the sands shifted?

Do Brisbane feel they are not close enough and need to go down before going back up? What does that mean for Zorko? Are Brisbane taking First Crack's criticism to heart and feel they need to refresh?

Do Freo feel they are about to rise now is the time to strike while they still have fyfe?

Are Brisbane worrying about Clarko possibly going to Gold Coast next year or someone else?

Given that it seems like Neale is wanting to get to Freo rather than them trying to bring him back, Freo should offer a couple of second round picks and nothing more. If the Lions don't trade then Neale can stay with them and the Dockers take the haul they get the Cerra and their own first 2 picks to the draft and add 4 kids in the top 30 to their list.

Front loaded contract that Neale is looking to shift from, and he has form in this department apparently.

Its an interesting one because if Freo up the yearly salary Brisbane will want more compo back to release him

No I understand perfectly well the value of draft picks. It's a gamble that if you get right can change the fortunes of your team going forward. Settling for a player like Hobbs/Adams doesn't change the fortunes of your club, in other words reach for the stars or don't bother. If we want a player like Adams go and get him or a player very similar while we are in the window. Don't take the 18 year old version who is 3 years away from playing consistent footy.

Fair enough. I guess that "gambler" approach to the draft is held by a fair percentage of supporters, but I'd suggest less common amongst club recruiters. A Dusty/Buddy/Judd/Petracca only comes along once or twice a decade (and probably too early to include Trac, which further proves the point).

Anyway, interesting conversation, and with a strong draft hand is certainly a year you'd consider taking a calculated risk (or "gamble") on a high risk/high reward type. I would argue that RCD is almost in this boat with some of his attributes that you see from him in bursts.

That player in this draft is likely to be Josh Rachele imo.

Really ??

Papley , O'Keefe etc

I just find it really bad taste that players take the massive front ended deals and want a transfer when at the tail end of their contracts.
I agree with you mate
