best to keep one of chol/ccj....Reiwoldts last season,Lynch 3 seasons @ best...could take up to 3 years to develop a KPFCouldn’t think of a better Club to trade with for CJ and CHOL to go to in FA
GCS IN CJ, CHOL and future 3rd swap?
OUT pick 3
RIC IN pick 3 and Chol compo pick
OUT CJ and CHOL
then Package up 28,40,44 to the Dogs for pick 15
Trade Chol compo pick to Cats for Narkle.
FA grab Talia
Rich Go to Draft with 3,7,15,16,26 could even trade out our second round for a future second if we don’t have list spots
this is pretty close.i estimate his worth at around the 22-26 range,id definitely accept 19 in exchange for CCJ & 40 to GC,n we'd keep cholIf Cj requests a trade to GC i would be wanting #19 + #24 for Cj + #44
2004 was a very very long time ago, specially at the RFC and our recruiting department which consisted of FJ and the newspaper boy
we are now a pro team with good resources in all areas and good scouting. specially in WA where the talent has been on display
sammy cousins has picked some beauties in Baker , Bolton , Broad etc and im sure the WA kids will feature highly with our picks and Mathew Clarke is a good operator combined with BH they will have us purring quickly
bundle 16 & 26 for 11/12 ? we still got 28 to useHopefully we get both #15 & #16 after trade week
7 , 15 , 16 , 26 would be a great hand at the draft

This weakness of his fits us like a hand in a glove…knightmare has him ranked at 6 - the kid is no secret that is for sure.
6. Matthew Roberts
Best position: Inside midfield
Height, weight: 183cm, 81kg
Recruited from: South Adelaide
Projected draft range: 5-25
Plays like: Dayne Beams
August ranking: 4
———————————————————————
Weaknesses:
Prone to rushing under pressure and bombing long by foot for territory
Needs to take more time after a mark or free kick to assess his options before moving the ball on
Would benefit from lowering his eyes and looking to hit up shorter targets more often
Limited speed
Limited time and space in traffic
Suns have said they want an experienced type player for #3.Gold Coast aren’t shy to part with their top picks nowadays. So, maybe we should have a chat with them about their first pick because I would really like us getting Finn Callaghen.
Here’s a link to some footage of him:https://www.afl.com.au/video/655171...dal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1627280587001
He seems to be a line-breaking mover of the ball that we are desperately in need of in my opinion. He shows agility, speed, good decision-making, and good skills.
I know that we are still in need of an inside midfielder, but I wouldn’t mind this guy. The dream is to have both pick 3 and pick 7 so we can pick Callaghan with pick 3 and someone like Erasmus/Hobbs with pick 7.
Dont think there will be too much difference in quality between #16 to pick #11 to be honestbundle 16 & 26 for 11/12 ? we still got 28 to use
Maybe so, but if we had good recruiters they would have known this and tried to trade up into the draft like the Hawks did to get Pick 7. We had the draft collateral to do that. The thing you forget about 2004 was that the reason it was a terrible draft wasn't because we had incompetent recruiters. The fact is, it was the most even draft in history. i.e. every player after pick five turned out to be very, very ordinary (even though their draft profiles promised us they'd be guns). So it didn't matter how good your recruiters were, every club's draft asides from Hawthorn was a disaster.

Only 2 from us that would fall into that category worthy of #3 would be Vlas & Short.
So unless the Suns have a brain fade i doubt we'll get anywhere near Callaghan.

That's exactly my point though. Trust our recruiters. Imagine what they could do with two first rounders in next year's draft along with the two first rounders in this year's draft. We know they're going to find a couple of rippers later in the draft as well. So why not have two great drafts instead of one?

Apparently this year's draft is very even after pick 5. We don't know what that means yet. Now, it could mean that most of them are going to become great players, and if that's the case then that's fantastic for us. But it might also turn out to be a pretty ordinary crop. If our recruiters think it's the latter then I hope they consider trading one of our later picks into the first round of next year's draft - especially if the quality and depth of talls is going to be better than this year's crop.
ExactlyThink people are overrating CJ's trade value, not to mention the fact Chol as a Free Agent so will walk for nothing, best case the contract is big enough to get us a 3rd as compo in all likelihood.
Any trade for pick 3 is realistically going to involve pick 7, maybe CJ + 7 for 3 + later pick. Only problem I see with it is Callaghan is probably gone at that pick. Pick 3 will end up being pick 5 and Daicos/Horne/Darcy/Callaghan seem to be the pretty clear top 4. Probably would need to get pick 2 to get him.
Agree. There'll be a quality mid at 7. If CCJ nominates the Suns, I'd prefer to be adding by getting their 19 and other exchanging of picks (other teams involved) either way to get it done or hopefully upgrading 19 to low teens and grab Amiss, Andrew or Williams.Think people are overrating CJ's trade value, not to mention the fact Chol as a Free Agent so will walk for nothing, best case the contract is big enough to get us a 3rd as compo in all likelihood.

Agree with everything you said apart from the bolded bit. Talent watchers are already talking up next years draft.Upgrading pick 7 to pick 3 is just throwing away a good pick. Will more than likely end up with the same player as we would of anyway? Picks 3(5)-12(14) are all possibly equivalent and good picks. 13(15)-28? is still pretty good. After that more of a lottery. I believe this years draft will be a lot better than next years.

They did trade pick 2 for Lachie Weller.....Suns have said they want an experienced type player for #3.
