I’m still not decided to be honest. I want to see some more. I have a list of about 6 names and I’m not too sure which way I’d go as yet. What I am sure is we can get an elite player in at that pick.

We are desperate for big midfielders that can run.

RCD and Dow are not at the level, and there is no guarantee they will ever be, Ross and Martyn are even less likely.

I would love us to get Talia/Tarrant, and Narkle for peanuts.

Then we need 3 big midfielders, preferably ones that can kick and run, and also be able to play inside and outside and also kick goals. Is that too much to ask ? lol

Heaps of options with all picks, Problem is, I reckon we will have a choice of Ward/Hobbs and I am not sure I want either.

We cannot give players away so how could it be done to get 2 and 13? How could players be traded and ensured they are not given away and ideally come back?

If RFC felt they could not win in 2022 but GWS felt they could with certain additions how could such a arrangement occur above board effectively? How could RFC target premierships from 2023 or 2024 effectively and beyond. How could any risks be mitigated for such a scenario not to go pear shaped. What safeguards are available in the current climate to aid the accommodation of such a scenario?

How would RFC protect itself from not throwing the baby out with the bathwater and ensure the baby safely comes home?

Certain salaries would have to be paid for a number of players so how would that be sorted because GWS does not have a cap without a ceiling does it?

Sinn is a pure line-breaker with great speed and an attitude to take the game on. Sinn hasn’t been troubled defensively either for the Dragons, although that’s a big question mark heading into the Championships. He needs to become a more reliable kick over 20-30m and does fade out of games at points, but Sinn projects to be an excellent half-back/wing at the next level.

Here is the trouble, GWS has 2 and 13 and we want to win premierships when we can, not float around on a magic cushion of hot air with no reality to spur the hopes forward. Not only that GWS have players these on large contracts that are pointless unless they are really challenging even though some of their core is starting to get older and it might just pass them by and AFL HQ think what the hell happened.

So obviously Chris Scott has lost the plot in that regard in terms of a premiership focus but maybe he is operating to a separate agenda. Anyone now willing to be traded to Geelong has lost the plot or is only going to collect a paycheck and other benefits. When you win a Melbourne Cup its about the finish line not and being in front at that point, not what happens at the 3000 metre mark

Another way to look at this from a fan perspective, RFC won the premiership in 1980, Richmond won in 2017 and the time in between was largely a lot of ho hum from a fan perspective. It was painfull, arduous and deflating but still,if not killing you, a lot of ho hum. Why should us fans and stakeholders dwell in the ho hum, especially if it does not cost us premierships?

You need to open your mind and consider if the players want to win premierships and the clubs want to win premierships, and everything else is sorted how could this be done with a divergent course and ensure no one screws the other over like GWS holding on to a player or two.

How could RFC ensure GWS has to trade back to RFC even if it was for one year? How could RFC incentivise GWS to do that heavily. Have a think about that once you open your mind and consider the possibilities of what a club and the players can and cannot do?

Ignoring your attitude boundaries that discriminate against your imagination how could RFC achieve this if them and the players wanted to do this and ensure they where not screwed over?

Clubs have done a few tricky things in recent years with contracts of players traded. Have a think about it. If you wanted a player that was willing to go and come back how would you construct the trade to ensure that player comes back amongst others in this instance so the receiver club is virtually forced to trade back and enable a loan scenario? I could tell you how to do it applying methods we have seen but why should I inform others of what the clubs should be able to figure out if its to the clubs and players advantage? It is easy to say trade Deledio and get him back in 4 years or whatever. However, in recent years, based on what has occurred, it should not take a rocket scientist to figure out, how a club could enable such a situation to occur with another club, even for one year, given certain scenarios that could be constructed between player movements such a boomerang scenario be enabled that could be very difficult to break

Not crazy talk, I was told he’s rising and could be a top ten pick. Is that due to us? I don’t know but there are some clubs with a top ten pick who are keen as mustard on him. I agree, he will be a player.

If Chol and CCJ are gone, I Can definitely see Mac Andrew coming into possible contention for our pick 7. Huge upside with this kid. Absolutely far and away higher ceiling then both Chol and CCJ. Massive excitement factor about him. Athletic monster.

Would love to somehow get Gold Coasts pick 3 and grab Hobbs at 3. Somehow keep 7, Grab Andrew and get lucky and have Rachelle bring there at 15.

That would be a very exciting haul of talent.

I am just mentioning possibilities that I do not think some in club world fully understand given what has happened in the last few years of what is possibile.

For example, I think I read Dimma said it would be good to loan out players which is not possible. However, given certain situations between clubs and player list dynamics, if willing player participants are available it is possible to legally loan a player(s) to another club without loaning them by creating trade constructs that forces the club that receives the player to trade the player back at a point in time thus effectively taking the form of a loan even though it is achieved through two or more separate trades involving other players and movements if the instigators are prepared to open their mind a little and understand the incentives at play in certain scenarios.

Some players take longer, some were stuffed around by Covid, try playing AFL with little to no VFL. RCD dominates VFL, but has yet the fitness to do so at AFL, might take another year or even two.
Ross was great until we tried to make a half back out of him. He was our best player last game of the season when put back in the guts. Dow has been there 5 minutes.

How can you right off players that have shown ability but are not aFL ready player already. Shane Edwards would be running around elsewhere. There are no guarantee's except with the stars, but some great players have taken their time getting to the level.

You could say that about many young players. Some don't have the obvious talent of Bolton but need a bit of time and continuity, of which there hasn't been much of that. Right now Bolton is still not there, he could take games apart, but he only does it in quarters. 23 next year, so he is coming into his prime and he should take it up to the next level, no reason why because the talent is there in spades. Stack is another in that category, he could explode next year if it all comes together.
RCD has the talent, and showed it at times, but doesn't have the fitness, that will come. He runs out VFL games no problem, so he needs a bit more time.

All we have is youth right now, and I think if we don't back it 100% we will regret it, because draftees will take a few years and hawks Mitchell or Talia won't fix things. Narkle maybe, he has talent but at 23 hasn't really done that much. Rather back our own.

I can't match that proposal I must admit but there is talk that West Coast are very keen on getting Pick 7 from us to get in front of Fremantle at pick 8. If this is true it will be interesting to see what they offer. To make it worthwhile for Richmond you would think it would have to involve pick 10 and maybe a second pick from this year or next.
