In the event Adelaide are in love with Arlo Drapper which there are rumours of this being the case and we can't strike a deal to trade up from 7. Would anyone be willing to trade pick 7 and 17(courtesy of the dogs), 28 for Adelaides 2022 first rounder and pick 37. Would at the very least be a top 5 pick.
4 & 23 for 7 & 17 would be the best outcome for both clubs.

Egg and caddy might be able to be moved off the list. Free up a couple of spots
Caddy would free up a senior spot, while Egg wouldn't as we're over our rookie cap as it is.

I would trade out Pickett for a pick in the mid to late 30s. Opens a list spot gets us more leveredge on doing deals to upgrade. I reckon Marlion has dobe his best its best we get something now befire hes not worth anything on the trade market.

There was some chatter earlier this month that we were hiding a kid and the Knights are a team that we've had great success with in terms of taking kids from there.
Sounds like a good character, a hard runner, hard worker and tackles and gets a bit of the ball. So a type we might like.

But clearly must be some significant flaws in his game to miss out on Vic Metro/combine invites.

On pure ability I agree with this but as a human that would be shit house and our club is better than that.
He’s also unlikely to worth anything anyway.

Egg won’t free up a spot. One rookie has to go given we gave Parker another year. Stack, Mansell, Miller, Aarts, Pickett, Parker. 6 is the max then you can have 2 cat B rookies I think.

6 rookies there. So egg does have to go. Aarts would be next.
Just checked and hawthorn have 9 rookies.

Yeah I would be 99% sure eggs gone but he’s not actually making a spot for anybody. I believe Aarts is contracted. 1 of Garth or Biggie will be delisted most likely Garth. I reckon we then only take 4 picks in the draft and strengthen our hand for next year aswel even if caddy gets traded out.

38, 42 and 47 (1173) for Dogs pick 17 (1025). Depending on what we get for CJ if it's 20, then we may include 28 (677 points) = 1850 and we get something back next year from the dogs. If it's 40 we'd likely use 38, 40, 42 (1210), and pick 47 which we wouldn't use could hand it over to North for Tarrant.

Still gives us a very strong draft hand, either 7, 15, 17, 20, 26 or 7, 15, 17, 26, 28

No way would i give up Pickett for a pick in the 30's
He has another 2 - 3 years left and is playing a position we currently dont have depth
Not to mention in 62 more games we will have 3 boys available under the father son. you never see these boys without a footy in their hands and marlion jnr is nearly 11 years old a believe

My Sunday thoughts - for what they are worth.

I reckon we would want to either

1) Get really high picks - first 5 chosen to get almost certain A graders. This year that is picks 1 - 3 because of FS. This would mean trading out a lot of picks to get one or two high end picks.

or

2) Get as many top 20 picks as we can and simply select as many high potential picks as possible. Some will be OK, some might be A graders.

If we are lucky enough to get Option 1) we keep an extra one of two depth players. If we can't get those top picks we cull till it bleeds and do a major rebuild on the run.

The issue that could blow this up is if we can trade into either a top end player (pies list self-sabotage) or we can trade into better picks next year. So for example we might be able to find a club willing to trade out next years first rounder (hello Collingwood) for this year having points for e.g. Daicos. We win they win. Dangerous, but possibly high reward. Or a club just has to lose $400-$500K and loses an A grade player to do it. )Funnily enough that also looks like the Pies. They couldn't shoot themselves in the foot 2 years in row could they??). But it is possible that we can bundle picks and do something extraordinary because we are Jonny on the spot.

However, I expect we are after those top 5 picks to be almost certain of A graders, and we will take top 20 picks if that doesn't work.

Ward
Roberts
Van Rooyen
Watching a bit of the SA v Allies game on this morning and Roberts looks very early Daniel Hanneberry ish. Really solid ball player. Wouldn't be disappointed if we picked him

- Erasmus with pick 7
- Goater with pick 15
- Van Rooyen with pick 17 (should we get it from Bulldogs)
- Knevitt or Matthew Johnson with our pick in the 20s.

If we have another list spot available, then Rhett Bazzo. We then go home and laugh heartily
Knevitt could be good value if we can nab him with one of those second rounders, 193cm mid, good overhead.

Sounds pretty similar to Ned Long (NK’s)who a poster on this thread has linked to us.

One of those 2, with s pick in the 20s

I wouldnt be disappointing if we got both Long & Knevitt with our 2 2nd rounders
certainly an area of need.
7. Erasmus/Ward
15. Goater/Jvr/NWM
17. Jvr / Goater /NWM
26. Long / Bazzo / Knevitt
28. Long / Bazzo / Knevitt

A+ Result

While it’s not essential (we’ve proven we can win Premierships with small miidfielders) there is a bit of a hole in our list re tall mids. RCD is the big hope but would love to see a couple of 187cm plus mids added.

And that’s not discounting clearance players like Prestia, Lambert and Shedda, ability to play the role at a high level is more important than size
BUT if you can have both...

Agreed but the game has changed and as seen with players that played in the GF
Bont , Oliver , McCrae , Petracca etc and Ollie Wines winning the charlie

Players that have size and speed as well as athleticism are gold and hard to stop. We have RCD & Ross as good size players and Dow is not bad at 185cm (RFC has him at 183 but is clearly bigger)

having players like Long , Knevitt , Goater who are all 190+ and with ball winning ability and speed would be great , We already have Bolton , Baker , Prestia as the smaller variety
