It's a lot to spend for Rachele. They do need a boost forward of centre and their midfield is a lot of the same, so he at least can add some variety if he's the choice.

This is what I'm talking about with the draft opening up. You could have someone take Rachele with the 4th live pick, and you could have someone else not have him in their top-10. There will be a bit of that this year.
You'd think if the Crows were interested in Rachele that they'd be more open to trading Pick 4 to slide down a little and give them a better pick for Dawson

What do you think North would want for pick one? Being a Pies supporter I suppose you hope North choose JHF before Daicos.

Obviously North would want a lot but is this pipe dream stuff or is it possible? What do you think they would accept?

Here is another question, what is Mac Andrew like with ground ball? Is he clean with ground ball? We know he can take a mark and move but what is he like when the ball is near his feet?

While we are at it I notice Owens bob up in the challenger. Not much has been spoken about him but Twoomey raised his name today Has his name not been as prolific because he is a Saints NGA?

There probably will be other top-10 interest in Rachele. There may be slight wriggle room, but if there is some, it may not be a lot.

In my list needs piece I mentioned Adelaide's 1st for Sydney's 1st + Dawson. Adelaide won't want to give up that pick, but I'd be a lot more willing to give it up, viewing the pick as outside that range where there is much of an advantage of having that earlier pick.

It seems like they have a clear target in mind. Will be interesting to see if Rachele is their man.

I can't say I know what North Melbourne have in mind in terms of what they would take.

Would be interesting to see whether they'd bite if GWS offered 2 + 2022 1st, Gold Coast offered 3 + 2022 1st or Adelaide could do the same with 4 + 2022 1st whether North would bite on any of those offers.

Why so much just to move a spot or two? There is major separation between Horne-Francis and Daicos, with everyone else, so it would take that second first rounder for it to be a conversation.

With JHF and Daicos, we're talking about two who with good development (far from certain when joining bad teams history tells us) can be top-10 midfielders in the competition. The rest of those guys you'd be pretty happy if they're top-10 on list calibre. So we're talking about a very different class of footballer and a pretty steep opportunity cost.

So let's say those offers are the conversation starters/major pieces involved in a transaction. North Melbourne might think: include those picks, give us a sweetener, and you have a deal.

Andrew is for someone his height at least reasonably clean at ground level. He's dexterous.

Owens was incredible in that challenge match. I don't follow what other media outlets are saying, but basically a late callup for that challenge match and had an incredible breakout performance. He was playing good footy before that, but it was from there where he became a 'name' and first round contender.

I don't follow what other draft commentators are suggesting, so I have no idea whether Cal or others in the media rate Owens or not, but in clubland there are scouts who regard Owens as a top-20 selection based on what he was doing in his last roughly month of footy, and if I'm doing a phantom draft today, I could see Brisbane late 1st round taking him. In my October Power Rankings, Owens is 11th on my board. Speculative as I initially was feeling like I'd like to see more of that, but going off how he was trending, I'm happy to speculate we would have seen him continue building on what he showed in the challenger. And seeing how quickly he has been growing, and adding onto that the rate of improvement, they're great indicators suggesting lots of improvement still to come.

I still believe we should trade out pickett and caddy so we can get some cap space for 12 months from now and maybe get a couple of picks in the 30s that we can use to upgrade our early picks.

I think there is a definite sense of competition and spite towards us from the other clubs. Some may claim that all clubs are just making deals in their own self interest and that is true, to a point. What I do think is happening though, is that clubs don't want to deal with us or see their picks turn into assets to us which would come back to haunt them. I genuinely feel that clubs are more likely to work with the weaker clubs because, not only do thye often have more earlier picks but also that there is a smaller risk they those players chosen with hurt their clubs chance of success in the future.

No other club wants to see us succeed and they know we have a proven system and development program that gets the best out of players. Swapping earlier picks with us, regardless of the deal would come back and haunt you.

THis could be me with a decent chip on my shoulder or it could be a years of success making other clubs bitter as hell too.

we have 7 and 15 are is there any clear players you would pick ahead of others around the 7 and 15 mark ?

Would you trade the picks we have to get a Fin or Ward ?

I'd be comfortable using 7+15 to move up to 3 and secure one of Fin/Ward.

Why would I make that most? I'd want that higher probability of star power early and back myself if I had a later pick to have a shot at someone.

I've spoken a lot about the top-30, but I do feel like with good talent ID because of the evenness there will be some value available later on also.

There are a lot of years I have players in my top-20 and top-30 go undrafted. I'm sure there will be those kinds of opportunities again this year to get that kind of potential value. To give you a name, Jack Avery is one I'd love late draft if he makes it that far. He's not far outside my top-20 and was last month until I revised a lot of general defenders down my board in favour of some KPPs and midfielders I see greater scope to be influential from. Maybe he's one who could be drafted with a view towards succeeding Dylan Grimes and learning his craft under him for a few years.

The club has shown their hand by wanting a future pick for CCJ. Nonetheless, those picks would be great, maybe JVR instead of Amiss? Mitch Owens looks the goods at 15 as well.

I think people are underrating just how strong a draft hand we have with 7 picks before 47. Our latest picks are all early 3rd rounders, it's not like we have a bunch of 4th round picks like the Saints

Very nice. Surely Knevitt goes a lot higher than 38... But it is a wishlist I guess!!

So we are letting Garth, Biggie and Cumberland go?
