We won’t get access to him if he’s that good. This year if an NGA gets bid on in the first 20 picks you can’t match, from picks 21 too 40 you match like normal after that you just use your next available pick to get them.

Next year it’s worse no matching in the first 40 picks with normal matching after that.

No word on 2023 but I imagine it’s going to be worse again. Afl trying to phase out NGAs.

Bidding rules should be the same with the Northern academy's IMO, we only have the NGA's in the 1st place to try balance out the rorting that the system has had for yrs now. I have always hated the bidding system with a passion.

It’s complete bullshit that the kids we had already in the academy we now don’t get access to even though they’ve been in it since they were 11 . All because JUH, Lachie Jones, Tarran Thomas and Quaynor were first rounders. How many northern academy kids have been first rounders? Great for the Dogs, Port, Roos & Pies but ****s over everyone else who don’t get to reap the rewards of their hard work/money/time.

Thought the AFL was all about equalisation

Anyone else wish they’d scrap the two nights of the draft and just go back to 1?
First round having its own night sounds good in theory but our draft doesn’t have the hype of the nfl draft, reckon it should go back to just the 1 night

It should all be stripped back. 1 day free agency. 2 days trades. 1 day draft (including rookies) it's just a crap ploy by the AFL to stay semi relevant for another couple months but really all their doing is boring everyone to death. I'm pretty sure we all wish we spent a huge number of hours this last week a better way than checking to see that nothing's changed. I did however learn that the Bulldogs pick 17 was akin to the golden ticket in Willy Wonka. Don't know how or why but 70 delusional flogs passing around Kool aid have finally convinced me. Wonder if we offer up pick 7 we might still be able to get it?

Hey we got Egg out of the Academy. We also spent a few hundred grand so a few kids could go to Scotch College for a zero return on investment. Ahh eggie so glad we never gave Josh Green a chance. Was far better to give eggy another crack where his solitary game was so putrid his papers were stamped. Better the devil you know I guess....

I just love Wanganeen-Milera. His upside is huge. At 188cm he is already a great height. He has fantastic vision and good evasiveness and speed. He is a beautiful kick as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes very very early.

Problem is we will not get him at 7, maybe gone by 15?

I've been touting knevitt for sometime and only now people are questioning why he won't go earlier. I think he may be a late first or very early second round pick. He is a player who has improved later than others but appears to have very good attributes.

The only similarity is they're tall, right-footed mids. RCD is bash and crash, feed out the handball. Johnson is an inside/out type who can win his own ball, step through traffic and hit someone lace-out. Classier. More like a right-footed Pendles in type.
