Tall forward? Yes it’s entirely possible that their isn’t a good one eligible for the draft in the whole country. Only have to look 09, 11, 12, 16 drafts to see it’s possible for an entire draft class to have no good tall forwards.

As for this years talls I haven’t watched them play. But no draft watches seem particularly enthusiastic about them compared to say last year with Thilthorpe and McDonald, or the King brothers in 18 etc..

Just because we want the next JR doesn’t mean he’s available and forcing it won’t make them an A grade talent.

I’ll back our recruiters if they take Amiss (who seems to be the first tall forward to be drafted) but I’d be surprised.
Agree.Too many ? marks about this years Kp crop.Even Gibcus. How much development has he lost by not being able to play.
Next years Draft apparently is full of rated KP's.
Draft Mids this year.
Kp's next year.

On the other hand if these talls are so good next year, and we have a pick somewhere in the later first round (hopefully), good chance they will be gone. At pick 7 we have a pretty good hand.

Gibcus would be a good pick up but if we are looking to be in the mix this year then i see him hardly playing in 2022. He wouldn't be ahead of Grimes, Robbie, Balta, Broad, Vlas, Short, Dan and Stack

I personally think Callaghan will be a star and reckon we should trade 7,15 and norths future 2nd to get him
Thank God you are not doing our trading! Pretty well 3 firsts for one unproven kid, laughable

I mean you could also have the number one pick in the season that the consensus no.1 pick is Watts, Patton, Boyd etc... you can only play the hand your delt not what you want it to be. I can tell you good card players can win with shit hands.

Never force a draft pick, draft for talent and trade for needs, especially with early picks. We’ve been very good at that in recent times, we needed a tall in 16 and a lot of people on here wanted Battle, instead we got Bolton.

The draft isn't about next year guys.

In the next few years Cotchin, Edwards, Grimes, Tarrant, Riewoldt will all fall off our list. It is about replacing them for the next ten or so years (hopefully depending on talent) and being competitive again.

If the recruiters like Amiss at 7 because Callahan, Ward and Hobbs are gone, so be it. I personally wouldn't but I do trust our guys at understanding talent.

He must be good

He's very much like Jones from Essendon - who I think will be a very big forward for years to come, but i think he's a) more versatile and b) has more footy nous.

His big frame will fill out. He's the one for me as a forward. Could also swap with Balta during games as both have that ability but will state, Balta is a KPD and JvR is a KPF.

That’s why I like JVR the versatility

I rate Bazzo > Amiss as well

Amiss gives me Kent Kingsley vibes

Reckon missing out on both 2019 premierships
Would have rocked his confidence
Then 2 years of covid, hardly any reserves in those 2 years
As well, hopefully a really good longer pre season
Will get him fired up and on course again
Jack Ross that is

Amiss is very one dimensional. I don't quite see it as in a very early pick.

Bazzo would be a good defender to have developing, but I seem to be the only one around here who rates Miller and Biggy very highly. How many is too many on a list?

Depends on what is around at 26, 27 and 28. We have options. (I think we get 27 from Collingwood)

Absolutely live for the final siren to be blown on trade period so we can move our attention across to this thread, which somehow houses even more random posts.

We need to cross every phalange and hope Josh Ward slides to add another Brownlow Medallist to the list, absolute gem of a player. Even if our draft hand ends up staying as it is, I have such excitement for some really strong talent that even stretches to the start of the third round, we should be super pumped.

Gold Coast are keen on Gibcus, GWS will go for Andrew is my best guess right now pre trades. I think Gold Coast will be very interested in trading down from pick 2 to pick 7, I think Gibcus will still be available at 7. If we can trade with Gold Coast to get pick 3, I believe we will take Callghan, and crows will take Hobbs.
1.Horne-Francis- Kangaroos
2.Daicos- Collingwood
3.Darcy- Bulldogs
4.Gibcus- Gold Coast
5.Andrew- GWS
6.Callghan- Crows
7.Ward- Hawks
8.Erasmus- Freo
9.Hobbs- Tigers.
10.Johnson - West Coast

Looks pretty spot on.

For every Watts, Patton, Boyd there's a Nick Riewoldt, Weitering, Kreuzer. Of course draft pics are chosen for need, not as a general rule but when needed.

I wanted Balta, we got Bolton. I think I would have preferred to miss out on Bolton that Balta (different drafts but hypothetically) because good talls you build premierships around as a general rule. Great midfielders also, but they are generally the top 2 or 3 picked.

That's pretty close but you have GCS and GWS around the wrong way, nonetheless, gaining pick 3 would give us access to 1 of Callaghan or Ward or both if GWS go KPP

I can still see us trading up to pick 2 for Callaghan come draft night. If GWS are really that keen on Andrew, they can probably get him at 7.

1. Horne-Francis - North
2. Daicos - Collingwood - Bid matched
3. Darcy - Bulldogs - Bid matched
4. Callaghan - Richmond
5. Gibcus - Gold Coast
6. Hobbs - Adelaide
7. Ward - Hawthorn
8. Erasmus - Fremantle
9. Andrew - GWS

From what I've read, most seemingly think there are 9 kids in the top 2 tiers of the draft, which leaves us in a decent spot as we will have the 9th pick.
Tier 1: Horne-Francis, Daicos, Darcy, Callaghan
Tier 2: Ward, Hobbs, Gibcus, Erasmus, Andrew

Personally I'm not convinced if GWS hold onto pick 2 (pick 4 after bids) they will take Andrew over Callaghan. If they don't, I think there's a decent chance Andrew get to us at 9. If that does happen, do you take Andrew as the best available or do you take a mid if that's seen as more of a need? I reckon they probably take Andrew as a R/F, not as if tall forwards aren't a need either.

People are of the view that this draft impacts our 2022 chances. I think there's a gross overestimation of what a kid recruited in year 1 will do. Especially outside of the top 5.

We might luck out with someone at 7 or 15 that has a really positive impact from day 1, but more than likely the fruits of this draf are 2-5 years away.

The guys that will make us contend again if we do are the Ross, RCD, Martyn, Ralphsmith, Dow, Stack, Miller type players. Guys in the system for a few years that should/could be ready to make a big move.
