Even if no one wants to trade their 20s pick for our 38,40,we will get great value for pick 40(a late second) by multiple clubs in draft night,I suggest another second for 2022 will come our way and any second in 2022 will do

Stuff trading out of this draft, madness if we do. Got two decent first rounders, and two more than handy seconds. Just use them and enhance our squad.
All this talk about shipping out picks this year for next is crazy. If we have to trade picks, trade the third rounders for a pick in the 20’s, but use it

If you could trade our 2 x 3rd round picks into 2 x earlier 2nd round picks next year, would you do it?

the trouble is you know what is in this draft, what is in next years draft and how deep is it? Harder to get better talent with later picks next year with more info

In 2022 draft we can always trade 2023 futures to boost it to

I dont think anybody ever doubted his athletic attributes or his marking .............. BUT
kicking and field play as well as defending the foward are the concerns.

Doubt he gets selected inside 30
I agree he's not the finished article but I see it as a risk / reward scenario.

Alex Rance fits the description you listed too.

I'm happy to roll the dice.

we are not going to be offered that, it if we were, of course you’d take it. But it’d take a ridiculous offer for me to consider trading out this year
Well 38 is an 'end of 2nd round pick' and 40 is pretty close to that. With such an even draft and so little exposure of the young lads there will be teams who want to get back into the draft after bids are matched or if they see someone who is available that they want.

My point though is that we are holding assets, those assets are going to be in demand and it's up to the club how to best use those assets, whether it be trading into the future for better value or trading into the current draft for better value. To blanketly say "use our picks this year" is just limiting what the club can do to improve our position both in this draft and next years draft.

Why ?? Their 2nd next year will be around pick #30-#32 range

They need the picks more than we need to off load them with only pick #9 and nothing until 62 and 2 academy kids they need to facilitate pints for.
their 2nd round pick means nothing and has little value and their 3rd will be mid 40's.

The only asset they have is pick #9 this year that has reasonable currency for Richmond
The main point of my post is I want us to further strengthen next year which has more tall options, I am happy to get the best deal we can.

Not madness at all, you look at what’s on offer in both drafts and you try and position your picks as best you can to get what you need. Far more tall options next year so crazy not to optimise our chances of getting a couple of good ones. If we get an offer to good to refuse in this year’s draft then that’s fine but I am sure Blair won’t go in with a closed mind of just looking at this year.
