I was at that game with my Canadian GF who became a convert to the code and the Tiges from that day on because of the beserk atmosphere in the punt rd end in the last 15 mins. Amazing win

I was there too.

Collins was concussed and came on with his head wrapped, got dumped in the forward line to stay out of trouble haha.

I was shattered when we traded him. Thought he coulda been someone. Carlton ruined him.

RICHMOND

Draft picks (as of October 21):
7, 15, 26, 27, 28

The list needs they must address:
Lots of picks to fill a few chasms. The most pressing is probably in the midfield, with the Tigers ranking 16th for contested possession differential and 18th for clearance differential in 2021. When you consider Shane Edwards, Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin and Kane Lambert will all be over 30 by Round 1 next season, on-ball stocks is clearly something that requires addressing. And even though they acquired Robbie Tarrant from the Roos, the Tigers lack some key defensive depth after losing David Astbury and Bachar Houli to retirement and delisting Ryan Garthwaite. The Tigers conceded a score from 44 per cent of their opposition’s entries this year – ranked 13th in the league.

The ideal draft prospects: If they want an on-baller early, gun inside midfielder Ben Hobbs, who averaged 29.2 disposals and 6.2 clearances from his five full NAB League games this year, would be an ideal pick-up but mightn’t last that long on the open draft board. Knights on-baller Josh Ward could be a chance to slip through to the Tigers’ first pick, while Subiaco’s Neil Erasmus would likely be available. Pick 15 is where the likes of Eastern Ranges’ Tyler Sonsie, Subiaco’s Matthew Johnson, Calder’s Josh Goater and South Adelaide duo Arlo Draper and Matthew Roberts would be in the mix. The Tigers then have three consecutive second-round picks to fill their list. Midfielders like Calder’s Zac Taylor, Falcon Mitchell Knevitt and Sandringham’s Blake Howes would be in the mix, while Swan Districts’ Rhett Bazzo or Central District’s Leek Alleer would be key defender options. Running half-backs to fill the Houli hole that might slip through include Sandringham Dragons’ Campbell Chesser, Northern Knights’ Darcy Wilmot and Murray Bushrangers’ Tom Brown.

If we get a Jack Graham equivalent at pick-7 (9) I’d be pretty happy. 200-gamer with great leadership qualities. Where do I sign?

Graham is not in our best dozen players, which you'd want your pick 7 to be. He is a good role player who has potential to improve, hopefully this year, but he is not game buster. Bolton, Stack, Balta type talent is what you want with a first draft pick I would have thought.

exactly...no side in the comp is playing off for let alone winning premierships if a player such as Graham is the centrepiece of your midfield, dynamic game changers x 2 minimum in the middle is wot wins ,Graham hasnt even had his first tag put on him yet and hes almost 5 seasons in

Next years draft will be one of the worst drafts in recent history. With two years of bassically next to no football development for kids in Vic the AFL should do something.

Allow Clubs in vic to sign kids to there VFL sides with the notion that be developed by the best for to make up for the two years of no football?

Or allow them to do training camps half way through the year .. similare to the NBA.
AFL won't allow until our football program turns to shit again.(They'll be waiting along time)

Adding to that.
Its all about what xtras the clubs can offer for pick 2.
With both Crows & Hawks in full re build mode i doubt they'll give a future 1st.
Their next picks this year are 33 & 21.We can █████ with 15.
So do we give up 7 & 15 for pick 2
Go to the draft with 2/26/27/28

I would happily cough up 7&15 for 2 or 7 and 2022 1st rounder

Hmm, 7 and 15 plus 26 27 28, or 2 plus 26 27 28... I'm genuinely not sure which I'd prefer...

At 2 you can get a Dusty or Petracca which you are super unlikely to get at 7 and 15. At 7 and 15 you can still get lucky and get super guns like your Riewoldts and Rances, but you can also get your Concas and Lennons. Then again at 2 you can still get Scullys and Trengoves.

If we trade up we must really have our heart set on someone. I hope it's Ward but something tells me it's Callaghan. Why do I worry he's gonna be a bust? I'm always worried about these flanker types transitioning to AFL. Pure mids every day of the week please.

7 we can still possibly get one of Hobbs or Ward. And at 15 we still get a gun, probably a key defender. So maybe that's the better option.

Losing two first-rounders to get one back is dangerous, but then again we want the gun now, we need that super player to top us off now, and 26 27 28 will still likely be good players and will be great for our mini rebuild. So trading up might be worth it. ****, I dunno.

EDIT: If we can get pick 2 for 7 and our 2022 first rounder, then I'd do it.

Go in with 2, 15, 26, 27, 28, that's an amazing draft night for us.

No.

7 and Norf's future second.

Just wondering what's the knock on Mac Andrew that he isn't more on our radar? Is it because he is too much of a hybrid ruck/forward or doesn't he get enough of the ball? Watched his highlights and with his marking and mobility it's very easy to picture him as a key position forward.

Everyone is saying that next year is the year of key forwards. Just because there are lots being mentioned doesn't mean that they are all going to be stars. I remember in 2006, that was supposedly a massive year for talls, well apart Riewoldt and Hawkins when compared to the hype the rest were busts. I have to admit though I'm a big get the spine right first kind of guy. In 2004 the Hawks surprised everyone by picking Roughhead over Tambling and that allowed Franklin to fall into their laps and the rest is history.

Anyhow whilst l really like what I have seen of Mac Arthur, either way I hope that we aren't blinded by the thought that we can overlook a great talent this year on the basis there is going to be more like him the following year. It doesn't always work out that way.

Richmond have of late tended to go for something a bit special in our first draft pick of late.
Last year no early pick, but before that
2019 Dow - considered a bit of a reach but has x factor for sure.
2018 Collier Dawkins - again a stretch but high reward factor (hopefully).
2017 Higgins - an x factor player for sure, not going to hit the heights that they wanted but drafted for excitement
2016 Bolton - enough said
2015 Rioli - a stretch but drafted for excitement

2014 Corey Ellis - safe pick which didn't work
2013 Lennon - safe pick pick that didn't work

I hope they stick with the x-factor pick theory this year. Some risk big reward.
