You'd be taking him for his midfield ability too. He's strong, balanced, a very good mark and the best kick in the pool.yes that's what everyone says. Lead up 180cm half forward type, not exactly high on our wish list. I'm sure he can play as he is talked up, bland more to do with his highlights being nothing special and the position he would play at Richmond.
That wouldn't be the worst result. I would be tempted to go Johnson though.Still a long way to go before the draft, but I'm starting to think Gibcus is the one that slides to us. I know we want a mid, but if all of Callaghan/Hobbs/Ward/Rachelle are gone then I think we'd take the key defender before we reached into that next tier of mids.
1. NM - Horne-Francis
2. WB - Darcy
3. COL - Daicos
4. GWS - Callaghan
5. GC - Andrew
6. ADE - Hobbs
7. HAW - Ward
8. FRE - Rachelle
9. RIC - Gibcus
Did they? Where?I call rubbish as GCS stated they'd take Callaghan if he wasn't taken by GWS.
Not sure Hobbs is worth trading up for.If they are that keen on Andrew, then Gold Coast's intentions may make it difficult for them to drop down to pick 9 and give us pick 2.
I think we'd probably have to promise GWS we'd take Hobbs with the pick to get them to give it to us. If we got pick 2 and went with Callaghan over Hobbs, then there's a reasonable risk that the next player on GC's board is Andrew and GWS misses out. However if we take Hobbs, then GC takes Callaghan and Andrew is a good chance to slide on past Adelaide, Hawthorn and Freo down to GWS at 9.
If GWS prefer Callaghan at pick 2, and GC's next preference is Andrew, then its probably pretty safe for them to do a deal with us to drop down, for the same reasons as above.
"Experts".
I like Williams. That would be a pretty great haul. Big fan
Of Jack Williams, thing people are sleeping on him with Van Rooyen and Amiss taking the lime light
If you take out players who have been impacted by injury/concussion/mental illness (Boyd, Kolodashnij, Scharanberg, Freeman, McCartin, Marchbank, Ahern, Cockatoo, Francis) and Carlton and Gold Coast players who have probably been developed pretty poorly (Pickett, Wright, Ah-Chee, Ainsworth, Setterfield, SPS, Brodie, Dow, O'Brien) that list of busts (bolded) is actually pretty small.I think too many people have false hope - from just 2013 to 2017 (enough time to make an impact) here are some of the selections from the top-10 (50 players) …. and people don’t want Graham at what becomes pick-9..??

He could have developed the midfield side tho if he had the desire, just wanted it all his own way from an outsiders perspectiveLennon was a medium tall with not a big leap and no speed , This is a massive issue unless yu are a very special player like stevie J
also had no midfield ability which limited his ability to play.
I think you're comparing him to the wrong player, Jack Steele is the one you should be looking at and Jack Graham is tracking along quite nicely.I do think Graham has the potential to move up a tier due to the fact that he has played games where he has hit the 30+ mark, twice. Hopefully he does it on a more regular basis going forward. He has attributes that are as good as anyone in the team but I find him limited. Vlas/Grimes/Prestia/Martin/Riewoldt/Cotchin/Edwards/Short/Lynch/Balta/Bolton/Lambert/Stack/Nankervis and maybe Broad, are all more talented players in my opinion.
I hope he becomes a Boak type, agreed his best footy is ahead of him.

But on the back of people saying "we want a gun with our top 10 pick", the point was more "how many turn out to be "the gun" you're picturing when you say that". Truth is, the people expecting a gun would not rate about a third of top 10 picks as A graders, let alone game changers if you review them year by year. Apart from the 2016 draft, every other draft in the period Noidnadroj highlighted probably had 2 to 3 really good players in their top 10's.If you take out players who have been impacted by injury/concussion/mental illness (Boyd, Kolodashnij, Scharanberg, Freeman, McCartin, Marchbank, Ahern, Cockatoo, Francis) and Carlton and Gold Coast players who have probably been developed pretty poorly (Pickett, Wright, Ah-Chee, Ainsworth, Setterfield, SPS, Brodie, Dow, O'Brien) that list of busts (bolded) is actually pretty small.
Very much so.if we miss on him i hope we snare TaylorSheldrick is a player we should definitely target with one of our picks in the 20’s, if he’s still available at that point of the draft
7 & 15 i'd only do for Callaghan.I think Tiges only do that deal on the night, and only if they can't get Pick 2 from GWS AND one of Hobbs or Ward are still on the table.
My guess is that we would take Pick 7 & 15 for Pick 4.
Yeah i guess it comes down to respective recruiting managers, but Richmond seem to be making it pretty well known that you're looking to trade up.
Surely if 7 and 15 become 9 and 17 you’d agree that pick 2 will actually be pick 4?Not a snowflakes chance in hell GWS do that deal. Pick 2 for what will become Pick 9 and 17?
You just have to look at previous trades to know that moving up the draft order barely ever happens because the cost is too high.
Also made an impact in his 5th game, Jack Graham that isJack Graham is a future captain if our club. His performance to play out the final with a smashed shoulder is the stuff of legend. People attacking him in here should hang their head in shame. He runs from contest to contest, kicks key goals when we need them, tags out champions when we need someone to stop an opponent. He is a terrific Richmond man and we should all be proud to have him in our lineup.
If those 3 mids are gone.Still a long way to go before the draft, but I'm starting to think Gibcus is the one that slides to us. I know we want a mid, but if all of Callaghan/Hobbs/Ward/Rachelle are gone then I think we'd take the key defender before we reached into that next tier of mids.

Highly likely, I'd imagine GWS bids on both given their need for a KPPSurely if 7 and 15 become 9 and 17 you’d agree that pick 2 will actually be pick 4?
Whats wrong with taking 4 this year(Covid year) & 5+ next year(Freedom)?I wouldn't be trading into next year unless we're offered a trade you can't say no to. As I've said repeatedly I see this draft as the first stage of the rebuilding on the fly. We're going to bring in 5 top 30 rated kids, can't recall a time a premiership contender has been able to do that, while still in their window without trading out stars. We have been able to achieve it by moving on fringe players, some we wanted to keep and others who chose to explore other options, which holds us in good stead.
One thing I would be saying though is we should be holding off on the expectations that pick 7 will tip us over the edge as far as being a contender is concerned. Remember these kids are coming off 2 years of limited development so it's highly unlikely that any kid we bring in this year is going to hit the ground running.
For mine our keys to whether we're a legit contender or mid pack pretender is how the likes of RCD Ross Dow Martyn Miller Ryan Parker Ralphsmith go that will make or break us.
Ahhhh Relton what might have been...This is a extremely serious draft for Richmond, god I'm hoping we pick a star like View attachment 1265178.. Legendary Relton Roberts .
One with the lot?Ahhhh Relton what might have been...
With a side dish of fries...One with the lot?
If those 3 mids are gone.
I'd rather put the for sale sign up for 7 for a future 1st.
(Hawks)-Pick 7 & 28 for Pick 21 & Future 1st.
(Stk)-Nothing to offer really except a future 1st.
(Freo)-Pick 7(very tempting for them 3 WA boys)& 28 for 19 & Future 1st
(Bris)-Pick 7 & 28 For pick 14 & future 1st.
I wouldn't mind if the club nabbed the 2 WA boys with our first 2 picks.
If Freo pick Eramus (as I think they will), I'd pick Amiss & Van Rooyen.
I'd then pick 3 mids with our picks in the 20's
That's just me though.
To be honest I don’t think it would be any worse than what the club has to work with this year with the lack of footy played for the last two years. They traded into this draft thinking the kids would of played all or most of this year.don't think any club wants to trade into a draft that has kids that have not played football and missed crucial milestone development years to covid washed seasons.
If anything i reckon clubs will trade out of it heavy during the draft days in the coming weeks.
But i could be wrong and they think they can evaluate kids of one year before they join the afl lists.

Don't think Williams has shown enough to warrant a top 30 selection. He's probably a more speculative pick for later in the draft. That would be a pretty great haul. Big fan
