Williams is too slow which is fine if you have Jack’s elite IQ but doubt he doesJack Williams is nothing like JR, lol, might be a bust to. Williams looks like a old school forward whereas JR is a leaper
And when the clubhouse leader has that as their one wood as dimma would sayI fully agree. Callaghan is all class, but what’s the point of players like he and Bolton if there’s no one there to feed it out to them? Inside midfielder should be number 1 priority for us and Hobbs is the best in this draft class. Never has there been a bigger emphasis on winning clearances than right now with 6-6-6

I honestly think Hobbs suits us best , we need a mid that rolls out of bed and gets 28 touches a game . He’s our man

While I agree to a point I reckon it's been more of a coaching philosophy issue rather than a talent issue. Cotchin, Bolton, Edwards, Dusty and Prestia are all capable of putting up big clearance numbers. Add RCD in there too.I fully agree. I wouldn't be trading to get to 2.
There will be a great player at 7 (9). We will have a choice of Hobbs, Ward, Sonsie, Andrew, Johnson, Erasmus. Then at 15 we will have another multitude of choices. And then they can really speculate with X factor types at 26, 27 and 28.
We should not trade next year's first. Imagine if the injury gods curse us even more next year and we end up trading a top 5 pick?
I have watched him in 3 games and have seen nothing that indicates that he's slow. Do you have some statistics to back that up from combines or somewhere else?Williams is too slow which is fine if you have Jack’s elite IQ but doubt he does
I would be happy with taking an Erasmus/Johnson/Goater, especially if the only way to move up is at the expense of another first rounder. There will be a lot of changes to the list in the next two- three years we should be taking as many picks as we canMy biggest concern if we don't trade up is that the first 8 players taken are Horne-Francis, Daicos, Darcy, Callaghan, Gibcus, Rachelle, Hobbs and Ward (not neccessarily in that order).
Would leave us to either take the risk on Andrew, or pick a player from that next tier (Erasmus, Johnson, Goater, Amiss).
Doesnt look slow but certainly not elite pace , I believe he has a good tank and can play Ruck to a level as he did in the SA/WA games and was also thrown into defence at times.I have watched him in 3 games and have seen nothing that indicates that he's slow. , when leaders of the pack are that good at clearances would be a strange strategy indeed to fail to address our biggest weakness : clearancesWhile I agree to a point I reckon it's been more of a coaching philosophy issue rather than a talent issue. We won all 3 flags fully accepting the fact that we'd lose more clearances than we won but we also knew we could win it back most of the time too. The stand rule and the way the ball moved this year severely impacted our ability to win it back.
I reckon next year there will be more emphasis in winning the clearance ahead of setting up to win it back. We have the cattle already.
Best player available
Personally, I'm probably taking Callaghan on his own over say Erasmus and Van Rooyen. I just feel like he's a much higher chance of becoming a real superstar. You only normally get the opportunity to draft that sort of player if you're rebuilding.I would be happy with taking an Erasmus/Johnson/Goater, especially if the only way to move up is at the expense of another first rounder. Taking as many picks as possible is crazy. You only take picks you believe are quality else you'd be loading up on list cloggers.I would be happy with taking an Erasmus/Johnson/Goater, especially if the only way to move up is at the expense of another first rounder. Agree with that logic and I reckon most clubs would take Callaghan after the top 3. There’s no real comparisons to him this year with the same class and hurt factorPersonally, I'm probably taking Callaghan on his own over say Erasmus and Van Rooyen. If you cast your mind back to the 2009 draft, Sydney offered us picks 6 (Gary Rohan) and 14 (Lewis Jetta) for pick 3 (Dusty). That there is the perfect example of why I'd do the trade and take Callaghan.

Need to also remember that Jack Williams is a december 2003 baby so he is younger than most and played this year as 17 year old
The whole December, late birthday argument goes out the window when you're physically developed to the same level as you rest of your draft age, of which Williams is.

Well I agree in trading up for Callaghan if he is regarded as genuinely elite, but not one or two spots for slightly higher rated prospects. It's also probably because im quite bullish on Erasmus/Johnson/Goater any wayPersonally, I'm probably taking Callaghan on his own over say Erasmus and Van Rooyen. Wouldn't complain if it was Johnson. My biggest concern if we don't trade up is that the first 8 players taken are Horne-Francis, Daicos, Darcy, Callaghan, Gibcus, Rachelle, Hobbs and Ward (not neccessarily in that order).

Thats not a bad deal which would look appealing to the Crows.I'd be happy with 4 & 33 for 7 & 26, if it guarantees us Hobbs/Ward
