9 Hobbs, otherwise Ward
17 Sonsie/Goater (whoever slides)
28 Bazzo
29 Taylor
30 Another Tall forward prospect
Hobbs and Bazzo probably the 2 key players we need from this draft.
Hobbs has grown on me dramatically. After reading his supports and seeing his highlights, he reminds me of an Ollie Wines type and a little bit of Dusty getting out of traffic. You need players like this with a first round pick. I don't think Hobbs is just an accumulator.
Hobbs distributes mainly by handball not by kicking...The question is tho has he got X factor Hobbs and his kicking needs improvement.

Same here actually.lolGee now I'm liking this Zac Taylor, will have to trust the recruiters know their stuff !
Maybe ToO as he is pretty small in stature and light weight. Plenty of others around that mark but his kicking is deadly. The jungle drums are beating that we really like the GWS academy product Fahey.Same here actually.lol
15 too early?
He rated high for speed and endurance and has a great left foot, something we are lackingMaybe ToO as he is pretty small in stature and light weight. Plenty of others around that mark but his kicking is deadly. The jungle drums are beating that we really like the GWS academy product Fahey.
Good mix. I’d fit Ned Long in with that last selection9 Hobbs, otherwise Ward

this is where we give the hawks the reverse wedgie and select him at 15Can't see a scenario where Zac Taylor makes it to our 26, 27, 28.
Won't get passed the Hawks 2 picks in the early 2nd round.

Essendon supposedly considering splitting pick 11 according to Fox.
"Recruiters believe the Bombers’ future second-round selection is up for grabs, while they could also be open to splitting their natural first-round selection (Pick 11)."

Yep.Think the Fahey thing has been around awhile.Common theme with both Taylor & Fahey. Both are great kicks. If the emphasis is on kicking then if we can get another pick under 20 then use 15 on Fahey(if gws don't have enough points) and use 16-20 on Taylor.Maybe ToO as he is pretty small in stature and light weight. Plenty of others around that mark but his kicking is deadly. The jungle drums are beating that we really like the GWS academy product Fahey.
Which is why I also said in my post that you quoted "+ possible 2022 3rd rounder"Why would we give up 28 for a pick that is likely to be 30+ in 2022? Surely we would ask for more.... otherwise what's the point?
Pick 11 is 13 ?I would be interested in 11, what do they want?
His kicking was seen as a glaring weakness until the last season or so.Oliver kicks doesn't he ?
His draft notes say opposite, that he was an 'aggressive midfielder who propels the ball forward with his long boot. His kicking was seen as a glaring weakness until the last season or so.

He was the worst kick in the comp going inside 50 last year. Always had a long, good looking kick but missed the target too much. He's definitely improved his efficiency. His draft notes say opposite, that he was an 'aggressive midfielder who propels the ball forward with his long boot.
30 out of 30 in the goalkicking at the combines.
I think the kicking thing was blown up because of his great handball game and the position he played. Inside mids who get their hands on the ball first often do have average kicking skills, especially those who did it from day one in the AFL where the time factor is cut in half. As he has adjusted to AFL his kicking has gone back to being pretty good.
If you think back and watched much of him in 2020, and probably what Damo is referring to, his kicking/ decision making was abysmal. Slam it forward 50-60 metres sure, straight to defenders. Missed targets 20-30 m away regularly rushing kicks. His draft notes say opposite, that he was an 'aggressive midfielder who propels the ball forward with his long boot.

Pick 11 is 13 ?
This draft is really evening out by about then.
Their thinking would be we can probably get a good player in that 20-32 range so let’s try and maximise pick 11 and possibly trade into next year as well (2R).
It’s smart operating but as I’ve said previously hope we don’t help Dodoro get his way
If we only rate a few: eg. Callaghan and Ward then I’m fine going all in for them. That’s an IF of course. That’s pretty well my sentiment too , we need several young talented players IN , one player won’t be the salvation
