I was thinking about the 'quality tall if they slip' comment you made.
There is no way Gibcus slips to 15. So then I assumed you were referring to Amiss. I couldn't think of any others 'slipping' to 15.

I think Hobbs could slip to 15, I also think Rachelle could to. Probably not but its not impossible. I can't see Ward getting to 15, too many strings to his bow, and enough form with competitive challenges

With Aymiss, it depends on what the WA clubs do I suppose. Freo might even grab Aymiss at 19 or think they can

Would depend on if they saw value in a pick in the late 20s and also ensuring they had points for any Fahey bid covered. Could also look at Ports first or even as low as freos third. I don’t know these clubs intentions, just putting my thoughts out at the relevant ranges.
Thats just the point the pick in the 20's will get swallowed up by fahey and they would just be left with the 50's pick
its easy to accumulate how many points required to match in the 2nd round with trading out 2022 picks during bid time

Yep I get it.
Perhaps GWS wouldn’t be interested.
But I still think we may have intent on trading further up to the teens with a combo of picks.

I reckon Matthew Johnson should be in consideration at 9 (7)
193 cm
Wiry frame but strong through the shoulders (Plenty to work with)... a bit like Pendlebury.
Super composure and decision maker. Hard to stop in traffic.
Elite agility, excellent burst speed, endurance and leap.
Always seems to create a clean option when pressured.. or gets clear.
Seems to have all of the tools to become an elite inside-outside mid/utility.
I like Hobbs, but he seems to want to barge his way through tackles and ends up dumping the ball by hand a lot. It's hard to see this working at AFL level so he'd probably have to change his game a bit as he's nowhere near as big as Cripps or Wines.
Johnson mightn't get his hands on first ball as much, but his trajectory has him moving pretty rapidly in that direction.
Obviously there are some great kids around this mark but after watching as many games as I can find, he's the one that caught my eye.

One thing I agree with most is Fahey looks a good player. I really like him.

GWS will want Fahey to and it looks like they are committed to getting Andrew especially if reports he has added 10 kg are true. GWS will be visualising squads and set-ups with Fahey in it one would imagine

If I was RFC, future picks are not off the table to get Callaghan IMO. I am not fussed over 2022 frankly and I have said I have not seen any vision, and without sounding like a dill, if we go heavy 2021 I am okay checking out of 2022 a little, in terms of draft, bearing in mind we can trade 2023 futures to get into 2022 like Melbourne have been doing.

I have no issue trading up for a pick 9 or 11 using some of the picks in the twenties and even a future if we use 15 to get 2.

If we can get pick 2 and get GWS pick 13 and losing 15, 7 and futures so be it

Any chance we can get pick 2 and keep 15? Could we possibly trade 15 down to 9 as well?

Man, if we could get Callaghan/Ward/Hobbs at 2 and then Gibcus at 9, looking spicy...

I think this is not out of the question, I think some doubt it but I am happy to run with it. I would be looking at Ward and Hobbs at 9 not 2 though. I am not saying Hobbs and Ward will be there at 9. Most likely they could not be there. But they could. If not players like Erasmus, Johnson, Sinn, Gibcus should be thereabouts especially if Mac Andrew goes early which seems likely

I am more inclined to trade down to 11 or 9 than not to from 15

Starting to warm to the idea of going for Gibcus to be honest.

I've been harping on about the midfield being a big need, but drafting Gibcus would mean our tall defenders are set for a decade. We can still get some very good midfield kids at 15 26 27 28, but the best defender also being a local VIC boy will have us set for KPD. We could then go mids at 15 and two of the picks in the 20s, and grab a key forward in there as well.

I dunno though, we really do need quality mids...
I'm all for it if it releases Balta to the fwd line.

Highlight packages are deceptive anyway, even on normal years.

Even the worst player in the U18's would look great with the highlight package. The kid may be an atrocious kick, but even then the highlights package will show the few times he actually pulls it off making him look like a very acuate kick.
Plz don't tell Carlton that.

Mac Andrew sounds much more appealing at 80kg than 70kg just quietly.

At least GWS know they will not currently have Zion Williamson issues with MacAndrew. Maybe GWS are playing the long game and thinking longevity, thinking MacAndrew will be around for a while not carrying huge weight but with effective ground coverage

Hobbs, if we don't do a deal with GWS, Crows etc hope we get him at pick 7 (9) if he indeed slides to our pick but I dare say there's buckley's and none he slides to pick 15. Rachelle a possibility to slide but this depends on Crows as they seem keen on him.
Hawks will pick Ward if he lands at their pick.

I'm not sold on Amiss, yes kicks straight but in terms of his marking, they are mostly out in front. Doesn't take big contested pack marks and isn't so strong one on one.
On Freo, I reckon they go Erasmus and Amiss.

From my understanding Darcy, Horne, Daicos, Fin are pretty clear top 4

the next 10 could really be taken at any position after pick 4.

hence the fluctuations of predictions across the board. List management in previous interviews has said dimma asks for players that can contribute to the list as soon as possible with the premiership window.

will we take the same approach with this draft ?

I reckon they do the “best available” player at pick 9 and then 15 use it on some one that could potentially contribute now.

Yep, was one of more competitive players who featured against Geelong VFL at the start of the year.

The concern with players built like him is whether they will put on the necessary weight to compete at AFL, some do and some don't so the fact he has put on 10kg's this year alone is a good sign.

or one and a quality tall if they slip.
If Gibcus was to fall to our first pick I'd be happy to snap him up and then look at landing 3-4 of the following which is possible if you look at how varied the rankings are of these guys from draft watcher to draft watcher.

Erasmus - 188cm 80kg
Goater - 190cm 79kg
Johnson - 193cm 80kg
Sinn - 186cm 82kg
Chesser - 186cm 83kg

Think our midfield refresh would be well advanced in 12 months time.

Anyone who thinks Riewoldt has more than one year left is kidding themselves. He'll be lucky to play 16 games and kick 30 goals would be a good return in 2022. Lynch ain't getting any younger or agile. I don't care about any mids who are available at our first pick or Mac Andrew. We must take Jye Amiss with our first pick cos if we don't Freo will next. There's gonna be crucial games where Lynch and Riewoldt are both out and I have little faith in Samson Ryan or Nank filling in. Our KPF stocks are as bare as ever so we must invest in a quality player like amiss. We have approx 15 players who can play as mids and more on the way but we only have 2 old injury prone KPF.
