Hardly time to call Nik Cox a success. I am not entirely convinced on the King brothers either to be honest.Mac Andrew has put on 10Kg and is now listed at 79Kg. I should have said Jackson was a surprise selection and a risk to go as high as 3. Any big bloke is a risk. And Nank is injury prone and Soldo coming back from a knee. I think it’s great list management to have a fully developed ruck/fwd ready to go when those guys are late 20’s.
I’ve said I’d only take him if those others are gone. And why can’t we address midfield deficiencies with our other picks ?
202cm gifted athletes with great skills don’t come around too often. Mid-sized flankers or midfielders are a dime a dozen.
I can’t think of many 200cm+ gifted athletes who have been busts … a few on current lists:
Luke Jackson
King brothers
Nik Cox (199)
NicNat
Add in the fact he’s highly skilled I think bypassing him could end up being a big mistake. I just can’t see him not developing into at least a very good player.

If we could have a Nic Nat we would take that player at a drop of a hat. If we have the ability to take Mac Andrew, pass on him and he goes on to reach the level of Nic Nat then there's every chance it'll end up being held up as a 'draft mistake' on the board for years to come. Now I don't know if that's his ceiling but if our recruiters do then I'm sure they'll call out his name.Hardly time to call Nik Cox a success. Great to call out NicNat. He has contributed precisely zero flags to West Coast. Their only flag in his tenure came with a ruck combo of Lycett and Vardy with him on the long term injury list.
There's plenty of big blokes taken on who are either complete junk or develop into average players like: Tim English(200cm+), Jarrod Brander (196cm), Josh Schache (199cm), Peter Wright, Sam Durdin, Tom Boyd etc.
A greater mistake than bypassing Andrew would be missing out on revitalising our midfield and winning flags in the next few years while also setting us up for the next decade. Or bypassing a genuine tall forward to replace Riewoldt.
Our attempts to address midfield depth has been entirely underwhelming, which you can probably put down to the fact we have been picking in the late teens at the earliest. Midfields win you premierships. Rucks certainly do not.
I think I've seen it said a few times that Nank is injury prone and I'm gonna have to disagree once again. To suggest someone is injury prone makes you think of guys that get on the park for a couple of games then get a niggle, guys that rarely play anything near a full season. Prestia is one we have that is sadly quite injury prone.Mac Andrew has put on 10Kg and is now listed at 79Kg. I should have said Jackson was a surprise selection and a risk to go as high as 3. Correct. Been plenty of busts among the big blokes taken high.I should have said Jackson was a surprise selection and a risk to go as high as 3. Any big bloke is a risk.
I hope so. Not because I don't rate him but it's because it means one of the quality midfielders could drop to our pick.Andrew will be gone before our pick.
Yep.Some claim he'd be a good defender but looks a bit lost outside the guts imho where he looks ok imho
Only way to get the next Cotch or Dusty out of the draft is being shit.Ellis, Lennon, Higgins, RCD, Dow, I have some hope for the last two but doing what your advocating this is the sum of 6 first round picks. Hasn’t exactly set us up for the future.
I’d trade them all for a decent midfielder. So I see no reason not to trade any two first round picks to get a player we want. Picks are over rated.

Hope so.Andrew will be gone before our pick.
Top 10 prediction:
1. Horne Francis (North Melbourne)
2. Callaghan (GWS)
3. Daicos (Collingwood match GC bid)
4. Darcy (Bulldogs match GC bid)
5. Gibcus (GC)
6. Rachele (Adelaide)
7. Ward (Hawthorn)
8. Erasmus (Fremantle)
9. Hobbs (Richmond)
10. Andrew (Fremantle)
Nik Cox proven? Lol, he’s as soft as butter from what I’ve seen of himHardly time to call Nik Cox a success. I am not entirely convinced on the King brothers either to be honest.

I remember Grockadoc saying this earlier in the year. How far though?I reckon we will end up with Gibcus or Hobbs .
KPD rarely go in the top 10 of drafts, reckon they both slip and we pick the one we want
Grainger Barrass, Zach reid and Griffin Logue the only exceptions since 2016
That's 3 KPD in the last 5 years have been taken in the top 10, its rare
Big chance Gibcus slips.
Not athletically gifted big blokes though …. there’s a difference between being tall (Mason Cox, Schache) and being athletic. There are not many athletically gifted 200cm guys … but all the ones I can think of were great pick-ups.

The only two names there I'd consider athletically gifted would be Stanley and Cox.Shaun Hampson, Dean Putt, Rhys Stanley, Sam Day, Michael Apeness, Billy Longer...
There's almost more busts than successes in the athletic 200cm project player category.
Not sure why you don't think Schache and Cox are athletic, though.
They’re trying to out joke the hawks who shopped half their side for a r1 pic and got cricketsCal Twomey : Carlton have put their pick #25 (#28 after bids) on the table for a trade
FMD like its a super pick that clubs will be clammering for

5 to 6 years to become a great player maybe, maybe not. It may only take 2 to 3 to become a very good player. The thing is football clubs have hopes for all their draftees, sometimes they have high hopes. If the tiges take him at 7/9 they would clearly have the latter. Should he prove them right he will be played above any lesser player of similar type. Names will mean nothing only what is best for success. To presume recruiters might be overrating him because of the dearth of talls in this draft is not in keeping with the professionalism of most club recruiters. Perhaps they are simply rating him as a player that is going to become bloody good.a big no for Mac Andrew from me. Could very well be a great player but it’s 5-6 years away, between now and then he’s playing vfl. A pick 7 needs to give us earlier production then that and he’s not going to go past Nank, or Soldo in next 4 years. Plus we have Sampson. Who will develop his ruck craft in next 5 years aswell.
seems as though to me he’s the only KP player (apart from Darcy) rated fairly highly. So any team that is even thinking about KP is overrating Andrew. Next years draft is KP heavy in the first 15 picks. Wait until next years draft and pick up a mid or two early this year.
