I’ve been a big advocate for Hobbs for a few months now but in comparison to last year what’s the difference between he and Will Phillips from North? Both looked to have similar traits and hype in their profiles and online.

Did the year off last year hurt Phillips impact this year cause he looked a fair way off when he played for the Roos. Which is one reason I’m skeptical to a degree on Hobbs.
Have always thought he’s the perfect fit for the next decade but guys like Rachele could be generational talents over the great foot soldier Hobbs has the potential to be

Na still have 5. We had 6 before. Just means that only one of Stack/Pickett will be upgraded and the other will spend another year on the rookie list.

Drafting Sinn is not really what the team needs and in no way should be reaching for him at 7.

Mansell, Short, Rioli, Stack are all fighting for the same spot. There is space on the wing potentially, but is a wingman exactly what the team needs?

At 15 is a different story, Sinn would be a good pick

What we don’t have is an elite left footer. I hope Sinn is picked up with our 1 pick

Ned Long seems to have dropped way down the list to more of a late round/possible rookie selection, certainly not in the mix for 15

When I see Matthew Johnson highlights he reminds me of Connor Menedue

That’s assuming there’s an equal amount of talent compared to an average draft. We could of just traded into the equivalent of the 2003 draft. 5 good players in the whole year.

At the moment even having a pick as good as 7 there’s no clear talent likely to be at our pick. In most years there would be plenty of guys developing late in the year much like Bont, Petracca, Oliver, Dusty all did. None of them got the chance this year.

The fact we’ve been prepared to commit so much capital to move up the board to what we see as top end talent shows we as a club aren’t that certain on this draft pool.

I would expect us to play this draft very safe in the first round. If we bust on all 5 picks the club will be set back years. If we get two best 22 players we will have done well.

But on the other hand there are players who were touted as top-5 early in the season who have slipped due to not being able to get on the park or not playing much : Sinn, Sonsie. Just look at some of the phantom drafts from months ago…So I’m more inclined to think it’s a great draft to have 5 x picks to ‘scatter gun’ the top-30, and I believe we will get 5 x players we rated as top-15. Whereas normally the top-15 is pretty much locked in stone.

In a ‘normal’ draft you’d be lucky to get 1 x A-grader and 2 x B-graders with our picks. This draft we are a good chance to get 2-3 x A-graders and a B-grader due to a lack of exposed form and having 5 x throws at the dart board where future superstars are going to slip like never before.

Still sticking to my guns. Looking at who will likely be gone im going Erasmus in fact id take him in front of a few of the highly touted ones.

Second pick for me is Goater if he is still there and thats despite my boring everyone to death aboyut the list short comings with talls.

FMD id take Knevitt with our third pick if he is still there but the last two would be on hopefully Bazzo it wont happen and maybe Williams and address needs with our later picks. At the end of the day the better talls will be gone and at each pick we take best available despite needs.

Iam freakin hoping our first pick is not a 200cm project player regardless of athleticism and aglity
