Apart from his obvious talent/skill, this kid speaks incredibly well, you can see why clubs consider him a top 10 pick.

P.S I apologise if you become nauseous listening to them fawn over which private school he went to... Ignore that at the start.

yeah wtf, Xavier producing 'some of Australia's finest men'

pass, instantly! Happy for him to squirt his own bathwater around some other club.

This has been creeping into the game for a few years now and it's disgusting but I blame the AFL media - especially the commentators.

What other sports to you hear a commentator say IN GAME "This young man's Dad went to ". WTF would anyone care? But they do it to stroke their own egos by indirectly tell the audience they went there too.

It's the most self absorbed, elitist crap which they feed to these young draftees from early on. How many times do we have to hear about Max King going to Haileybury College?

Richmond

Draft picks: 7, 15, 26, 27, 28, 83

List needs: Inside midfielders, key forwards, outside speed, key defensive depth

Who could be available at first pick: Josh Rachele, Josh Ward, Ben Hobbs, Jye Amiss

Could be in the mix after that: Josh Goater, Josh Sinn, Sam Butler Zac Taylor, Angus Sheldrick, Jack Williams, Blake Howes

Richmond is crying out for inside midfielders after being smashed in the clinches last season, ranking dead last for stoppage-clearance differential and 16th for contested-possession differential. Ball-winning machine Hobbs would suit the Tigers’ needs perfectly, but will he still be on the board at seven (nine after bids)? Ward, an ultra-consistent midfielder likened to Zach Merrett, could also impact right away and may be on offer, while Rachele has the matchwinning traits as a forward-mid to be a superb option for the Tigers. Amiss is worth considering after the loss of Callum Coleman-Jones and Mabior Chol during the trade and free agency period. With five picks inside the top 30, Richmond could look to package selections to move up the board, but expect them to be sitting pretty either way with their strong hand. Line-breaking options Goater or Sinn may be available at the Tigers’ second pick, while draft bolter Sheldrick, a tough-as-nails 179cm midfielder and classy ball user Taylor look to be around the mark for their three picks in the 20s.

November latest: Relentless inside midfielder Hobbs has been reportedly linked to the Tigers and they have also shown a keen interest in Ward, but the Northern Knights product may become a Hawk with the previous pick. Key forward Amiss is also in the mix and would address another glaring need. Goater would be difficult to resist if he fell to Richmond’s second selection, or will the the Tigers pounce on another Butler? As for their trio of picks in the 30s, Richmond has shown interest in crafty forward Motlop, while Bazzo could come into the equation as a tall defender.

I think phantom drafts go to peoples heads at this time of the year. Contrary to what Shifter Sheahan will say, the draft isn’t packed full of guns, history tells us there is likely 15 players who will have a good career and 5 of those will likely be taken in the first 7 spots.

Success % should be up this year.
Carltoon only have 1 pick of note this year.

Never going to get 5 guns

Happy with 1 gun and another 200 game player , If we get 2 x 200 game players and 1 Gun thats A+
Confirmed 🧐😏

can only be one right?

And where did I say 5 “guns”? I said 5 good footballers, and that’s a strong possibility given the commentary around regarding this draft. To even think about giving up say 7, 15 and one of our seconds for Callaghan is absolute madness. Imo of course
We were prepared to do it with Horne. Can't see why we wouldn't do it for Callaghan.

After the Hugh Greenwood debacle apparently now Gold Coast have to take an extra pick in the draft. They may HAVE to split pick 3…

StKilda would be our most likely trading partner if we are to involve #15 + 2nd rounder

But they could also be into Sinn as well

I would rather keep our picks as they are and only want to trade for Lions #18 with F2+26
Least we'll know who the Saints take before we're to make a trade with Ess.

Callum Toomey said on podcast that the tigers had not spoken to Ben Hobbs since April.... That seems strange given everyone reckons we are into him. Thoughts?
Thoughts are we arent into him.

Splitting the pick is the last thing they'll do. They already look bad enough and won't risk making another mistake by passing up a top 3 pick.

Their situation has not changed as they still have the same late picks they always did.

Word is they'll just use that late pick on C Constable instead of H Greenwood.

But on the other hand there are players who were touted as top-5 early in the season who have slipped due to not being able to get on the park or not playing much : Sinn, Sonsie. Just look at some of the phantom drafts from months ago…So I’m more inclined to think it’s a great draft to have 5 x picks to ‘scatter gun’ the top-30, and I believe we will get 5 x players we rated as top-15. Whereas normally the top-15 is pretty much locked in stone.

In a ‘normal’ draft you’d be lucky to get 1 x A-grader and 2 x B-graders with our picks. This draft we are a good chance to get 2-3 x A-graders and a B-grader due to a lack of exposed form and having 5 x throws at the dart board where future superstars are going to slip like never before.

It's obviously more risky in terms of picks this year. So as much as we are more likely to get top end talent, we are just as likely to get some spuds. I really hope for option A.

If we are lucky and get 2 or 3 B+/A graders then we are set for another period of contention.

Whilst I hate it (just because it's a televised event doesn't mean they can't just complete it in one go), at least we have two first rounders so won't just see one pick and be done for the day.

unlike last year when we had to wait right till the end only to trade out of it anyway lol.
