For those who aren’t quite in a position to do a full phantom draft, but who would still like to have a go at predicting the draft, please use this thread to post your predictions :)

The current draft order is available in the pinned thread, here:

In accordance with board rules, phantom drafts which do not fulfil the requirements of a full first round using the current draft order (at time of posting), and preferably with a bit of explanation and willingness to explain your decisions, may also be merged into this thread.

Following the Trade Period, the current order for the first round of the draft is:

  1. North Melbourne
  2. GWS Giants
  3. Gold Coast Suns
  4. Adelaide
  5. Hawthorn
  6. Fremantle
  7. Richmond
  8. Fremantle
  9. St Kilda
  10. West Coast Eagles
  11. Essendon
  12. Port Adelaide
  13. GWS Giants
  14. Brisbane Lions
  15. Richmond
  16. Sydney Swans
  17. Melbourne
  18. Brisbane Lions

Not sure swans go a Ruck first pick. If tall, likely JVR or a slider.

If long is there at our second, hopefully pick him.

Draft of JRV, Long and Dean/Gorringe would be a good haul.

Next year have academy prospect Billy King as a ruck and looks to be developing nicely.

Hi All,

I've still got some shuffling to do including putting some picks back in from teams who matched bids but thought I'd share where I was up to with my Phantom Draft. It's a bit of a work in progress at this stage so be gentle. I'm also aware I've butchered some of the spelling.

Adelaide passed on the opportunity to take O’loughlin as part of the NGA, why would they take him at 35?

I believe that if they nominate O'Loughlin, then they're obligated to take him, but if they don't they can choose him if no-one takes him first.
Not a great vote of confidence in him though.

Nominating an NGA player has no obligation in terms of taking them in the draft. Same with f/s. A club may choose to match or not.

Unless I’ve somehow skimmed over him, I’d be massively surprised if Zac Taylor isn’t taken somewhere in the entire ND.

Yeah that’s what I think too.

Somehow I’d love the Pies to trade back in to get him somehow.
Apart from Roberts, Fahey and Wilmot in the first round, the first round isn’t half bad…..after that it seems like a dart board draft. But at least he put one out and had a go.

In mocks Wilmot is getting linked to the Lions I’m sure that has more to do with getting Sharp last year than actually needs based

so Gold Coast get the chance to pick 1 excellent prospect this year and they give it away, Richmond need forward line youth and pick a slow mid leaving JVR on the board, and Sydney who drafted a ruck mid season and traded for a ruck with port then go and pick up Conway with their 1 and only early pick........ :tearsofjoy: :thumbsu:
