Prediction 2021 Draft Predictions

For those who aren’t quite in a position to do a full phantom draft, but who would still like to have a go at predicting the draft, please use this thread to post your predictions :)

The current draft order is available in the pinned thread, here:

In accordance with board rules, phantom drafts which do not fulfil the requirements of a full first round using the current draft order (at time of posting), and preferably with a bit of explanation and willingness to explain your decisions, may also be merged into this thread.

Following the Trade Period, the current order for the first round of the draft is:

  1. North Melbourne
  2. GWS Giants
  3. Gold Coast Suns
  4. Adelaide
  5. Hawthorn
  6. Fremantle
  7. Richmond
  8. Fremantle
  9. St Kilda
  10. West Coast Eagles
  11. Essendon
  12. Port Adelaide
  13. GWS Giants
  14. Brisbane Lions
  15. Richmond
  16. Sydney Swans
  17. Melbourne
  18. Brisbane Lions

Thinking dogs will try to trade back into the first round since how Sam Power rates this year's draft.

The Doggies would hardly have the points to match on Darcy as it is
That’s true, but any points deficit will come off their 1st pick next year, so if
you do fancy someone this year you may as well trade next years 1st for an
early 2nd rounder.

What would happen if they trade next years 1st rounder pre draft and have the deficit from matching Darcy
Does it come off the remaining 2nd/3rd Rd picks?
They could be using 2 years worth of picks for him
Lipinski trade for a 3rd could help but not sure what else they have
Wallis with FA compensation

We know who three of the first four picks will be.

What does every other team really need the most?

GCS - KPP
Adelaide - ???
Hawks - class around the ball
Carlton - ???
Richmond - midfielder
Freo - KPF
Saints - ???
West Coast - ???
Essendon - big bodied midfielder

GWS KPD?
GCS need like a key fwd, key defender and ruck arguably.
Carlton would need class but have Cerra likely to come in.

Bump. Draft order hasn't changed since after prelims since the highest seed won, so the order in the OP is the same.

Gibcus at live pick 2 is a really interesting one. Personally I feel he is more of a need to GWS than what Finn Callaghan is and can settle that KPD stocks for the next decade.

Same token I think Schlenslog as a more mature age KPD out of South Freo would be a sound 2nd selection and insurance for Phil Davis long term.

Giants definitely after 2 KPPs this draft and if they are keen on Gibcus we will hear about pick 2 on the market as that would be too high for him and SOS is not around for the reaching picks
I cant see the club not using the pick on Callaghan and then depending on who the recruiting team rates looking at other KPPs in the teens and 20's or lower
