Hey guys, we’re chatting to Sam Darcy tomorrow morning for RM Central. If anyone had any questions for him you’d like us to pose, let me know

It would be interesting to hear what contact he has had with other clubs, if any have had extensive interviews (especially GWS).

It’s annoying though that we had to take Marra as pick one last year and now Darcy pick two, while some of the GWS academy picks fell, and of course the Viney draft tampering.

It seems like a load of crap to say that they will bid on players where they rank them when they haven't even spoken to a player widely considered to be top 2 in the draft.

Its very concerning that a s**tstain of a club will bid on a player connected to us, but not even speak to the clear number 1 (who is now 2) from less than 12 months ago.

I can only think that Collingwood have something in motion to help their recovery from last year

Could it be that GWS aren't bidding on Daicos as a kind of gesture of goodwill from them having pick 2 from Collingwood in the first place? Like, "shit, we really ended up winning that trade, you know what we won't use that pick to bid on Daicos". It'd be kind of sticking the boot in to do otherwise.

Re-reading the BF phantom draft, just getting Darcy, Stagg and Vicenti would be an outstanding haul for us. Vicenti's aggression is exactly what we need on our list. Seems an upgrade on Lewie Young as 'a plug and play anywhere' tall.

ABC has a page where you enter what pick you have and what you are looking for. I entered developing ruckman (they didn't have KPD category other than interceptor/rebounder). And I said late pick.

They came up with Jordan Lukac.

South Australia/Woodville-West Torrens - 196cm/89kg

Patience will be required with Jordan Lukac, but just about every time you watch him play you will find a reason to be excited.
His size and leap stand out immediately, but it's his mobility and skill at ground level that really catches the eye.
It goes without saying for a draftee ruckman, but Lukac will need time to build out his frame and tighten up aspects of his game. But in a draft light on ruck quality, he should find a home somewhere.

If I could choose my ideal realistic draft, it would be Darcy, Paul Curtis/Judson Clarke, Charlie Dean/Dante Visentini. Baker Smith, Hugh Stagg, Noah Pegoraro would all be fine choices too.

I read somewhere that we had nominated him as an NGA selection. I assumed that meant we were committed to take him.
Can anyone confirm that we have done that and that’s what it means?

We've nominated him, but that doesn't mean we're committed I don't believe. I thought we nominated him last year too. The fact that we've nominated him a second year in a row makes me think we're keen though.

From this snippet sounds like he plays more forward and is more of a back up ruck. Big leap, physical and very quick. He could even develop as a defender with those attributes you’d imagine…. Definitely worth a late crack as a young project player.

Cal Twomey's late draft has Darcy going second. What a sucky club GWS are. He doesn't see a bid for Daicos until 4.

GWS can get ****ed if they dont bid on Daicos, hes clearly as good as any mid to come through in the last 5/6 years and hes going to go at 4? I personally feel like theyll go back to back bids. North trying to get the marketing $$$ so taking horne/its a line ball call anyway. 2 is overs for Sam imo considering hes really only dominated one state trial game and by the sounds a few school games. Teams love overpaying for talls I guess.

I hope we have the nuts to trade back into the second round and take Alleer, seems like a no brainer if he goes anywhere outside the first round. But unlikely we draft tall as bevo needs a rando midfielder prick he can give 15-20 games to from the vfl team to make sure we lose our actual talent to trade. (Scotts games cost us lipinski, Gardner cost us young).

Would also be a tough gig to have that many talls on the list who cant play round the ground. Hopefully we have a good small forward lined up.

Ultimately Darcy is the third best player in the draft, so using a heap of later picks to get him at pick 2 is still great.

what doesn’t make sense is GWS’s reasoning as to why they would select him at pick 2 because if it was an open draft they would pick him, but not with Daicos. If they also bid on Daicos it will be easier to accept.

There’s a suggestion on the draft boards that GWS rate Darcy at 1 and they’re not the only ones. Recruiters are apparently very taken with his rate of improvement, scope to improve further, character and size.

Yeah I’m more inclined to believe them to be sincere (in particular given their needs) and there is little pettiness about this.
