From Twomeys write up we could be around the mark for Goater, Sonsie or Sinn....:)
Yeah I noticed that. Would be happy with any of those tbh. All fairly dynamic players. Happy with a key position player with our other first rounder.

I wonder if the GC trade us 19.
Would it be worth it?
We give next year's first and 47,51
They give us 19 and next year's second.

They probably don't have need of any later pics this year though. Might work in a more complicated swap though with Richmond, St Kilda to help with Chol or Dunstan, or another club like Collingwood desperate for picks this year.

I like the idea of Goater and Wilmot.
Or Milera and Wilmot.

Be good to have another pick in the early to mid 20s to get a KPP as well
I agree, list spots may be the issue to take 3 picks though.
But it would be a good injection of young talent.

Interesting to see the late year birthdays, as they may have more development left than the older boys: Jack Williams, Darcy Wilmot and Neil Erasmus. Wilmot born on the last possible day to he eligible!

This is one of the reasons I like Darcy Wilmot - he is basically a day away from being able to play under 18s again. Huge upside and already has impressed this year especially in the Vic metro/ country match. The kind of player we need off half back in the coming years.

Would love a Goater/Erasmus/Wanganeen-Milera, a Chesser/Wilmott/Johnson and a van Rooyen/Bazzo

I may have misinterpreted but I thought Dom Ambrogio sounded like we would be taking 3 kids from this years draft.

Do we have to draft 3 or can we go into the draft with 3 senior list spots free and pass on our last pick?

Giving us more flexibility to take an extra rookie or leave a selection for the supplemental draft

We have to fill open and fill at least three senior list spots, whether that is three draft picks or two draft picks and one rookie elevation.

We can in theory do what you're suggesting if we shuffle around players on our senior and rookie list.

I think we have to take 3 picks but we could promote a rookie as the 3rd.

Thinking about our key position stocks again and it is apparent we don't have much in reserve. Depending on injury and make up of the senior side, pretty much every other tall we have is really in the ruck-forward mould. Ballenden, Freeman, Smith, Lane and potentially one of Fort, Cox or Casboult. Really need a more versatile/ athletic tall developing.

Been a while since Freeman was on the roster, I'm going to assume you meant Fullarton.

Lane is that athletic tall, he's a pure ruck more so than a ruck/forward.

Personally I not a big fan of most of the KPP’s in this draft.

I like Mac Andrew as a second round pick. A raw kid who will take a few years to develop and bulk up, but he has all the physical tools to be a good player.

I’d prefer Van Rooyen or Bazzo as second round picks as well.

I do rate a lot of the smaller mids and halfbacks/forwards higher, similar to where Twomey rates them, but don’t see them as a need for us, so would sooner consider one of the KPP’s.

If we didn’t have Ashcroft in next year’s draft, I’d probably be in favour of trading our first round pick for a future first round pick, and looking for a mid to late second round pick and hope Sam Banks is still on board.

Herald Sun draft experts give a pretty good run down of their top 30.
The Lions picks should put them in a pretty good spot for any sliders. Screen Shot 2021-09-30 at 8.44.35 pm.png

Erasmus @ 16 is interesting. Imagine if Erasmus and Goater were there @ 14 who would the lions pick?

Is Erasmus considered a flight risk?
That is a great question that I don't know the answer to, hopefully the AFL website can get some highlight packages up soon, so we can get an idea of what each kid could bring to the club. For what it's worth here is the discussion from the article.

There already are a bunch of highlights packages up on the AFL's YouTube. You can search through their videos for more, but here are a few players who have been discussed here:

This is the kind of situation where I'd offer our 2022 first round pick to Richmond to ensure we get both, then our third pick can be used on a half-back or KPP. Both look like great prospects.

Hey Lions fans,

Draft Experts eDPS, ModernArtillery, Pie 4 Life and PMBangers recently took part in a phantom draft for the draftcast! feel free to listen and direct all criticisms to the draftcast thread, specifically Pie 4 Life who selected for you

On this episode of the Bigfooty Draftcast, The_Wookie hosts a 3 round phantom draft for our draft experts eDPS, ModernArtillery, Pie 4 Life and PMBangers to participate in, each taking 4 clubs and running through selection-by-selection. Who does your club pick? Which fans will be the most outraged? Where does BigFooty's Own Neil Erasmus (BFONE for short) get selected? Listen through to find out, and hear the rationale of the selections for your club!

All selections, and club allocations can be seen here;

Questions for the listeners;
Is there anyone you would have preferred at any of your selections?
Who were the bolters and sliders?
Who were some of the players that missed out that shocked you?

If that happened on draft night I would be over the moon. Can we lock it in now?
Sam Banks is an absolute steal that late in the draft, at our second pick I’d have a really hard time choosing between need and best player with Johnson still on the board, I like Bazzo more but he and JVR aren’t too far apart for me. I remember reading an article at the very start of the season on this years draftees and I remember Josh Sinn sounding like the perfect player for us but seeming near impossible to get him, due to covid and injuries it’s pretty crazy that we could actually end up with him.
