So we’re linked with all the Victorian half forwards and half backs in the range of our picks.

Howes appears to be the late riser, having mostly been spoken about as a 25 to 35 prospect.

Chesser and Wilmot are the two I like the best.

That just strengthens the argument of McPherson being the better candidate, if the Suns weren't prepared to actually lose anyone off their list.

I can understand McPherson hesitation in that situation too. Salary cap dump is very foreign in AFL, It’s basically the first player to agree to, My contract is that poorly managed it cost my team a decent pick just to get rid of me.
At least the Brodie can be hidden behind the transfer of draft years.
I recall McPherson re-negotiated his contract after that adding another year on reduced terms to help GC with their cap issues, maybe they couldn't delist a recently recontracted player ... not sure of the AFL rules there.

Wilmot is basically An Answerth type who we got a lot cheaper I feel we’ve been linked with Sinn Chesser and Howes because they are all Dragons players and we have a habit of linking players together also don’t think it would completely hurt our chances of getting players Ashcroft would be comfortable playing with

Howes is the type of high talent/athleticism player I'd like to see us take a punt on at #20.

Interesting that Sonsie is the forward I would most like but is the one left out.

Wilmot is an upgrade on Answerth in most aspects of the game.

I believe we’ve been linked to the players we have, because they meet the criteria the club has repeated several times, outside run and speed, from our head recruiter, from our Head of Football and CEO, and those are the players that meet the criteria rated around our picks.

briztoon might be feeling just a little miffed as to why Brisbane has not yet been linked to Goater?
Not at all. It’s because he’s being linked to the clubs higher up the board.

I will however curse under my breath, if he’s there at our first pick and we pass on him in favour of Wilmot or JVR or the like.

Sadly I won’t be on here to give blow by blow accounts on draft night.

I don’t believe he’s viewed as a forward. He’s a smaller balanced mid, but hasn’t shown much this year due to injury. He should have as much attention as Daicos and Ward.

My guess is he’s one Twomey hasn’t heard about from club recruiters, possibly because a number of clubs have genuine interest and are keeping it on the down low.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sonsie’s range be from Port Adelaide at 12 to Hawthorn at 24.

Hope we're in for him if Sinn and Goater don't make it to us. He has superstar potential.

I’m not ready to go that far yet.

But I would prefer a mid at our first selection, if Sinn is off the board.
I don't think the club will be getting a midfielder with their first pick (if Sinn is not available) given the fact that Ashcroft and Fletcher (who plays in the midfield and wing respectfully) will 99% be coming to the club in 2023+ at next year's draft table and given the over-zealous of midfielders at the club, I can't see them selecting another pure midfielder although if E.Smith & C.Ellis-Yolmon do get delisted next year from poor performances at the club, we might want to draft or trade (this year or next) for a big-bodied midfielder to help support the depth at the club again in that department.

Personally, if Sinn doesn't get to our Pick 14 (16) next week at the draft table though, the club will more then likely select Campbell Chesser (Sandringham Dragons) as that back up option for the speedy rebound defender at the club, who can also play in the wing & midfield as well, due to his footy & athletic ability (All-Australian Under 16s Player in 2019), has a great character who presents well and brings elite standards (on & off field) and that we always try to select players who have a connection with each other or are from the same underage club/state to prevent any sort of go-home factor at our club (i.e McCluggage - Berry/s & Robertson - Prior), with this instance being that Chesser & Ashcroft (next year selection) being from the same NAB League club as each other, that being the Sandringham Dragons.

I could definitely see us targeting a mid at our first pick even if Sinn is off the table, a few of our mids are creeping up the age scale ie. Dayne Zorko(33), Mitch Robinson(33), Jarryd Lyons(30), Lachie Neale(29). While not a mid Daniel Rich(32) is nearing the end as well, plenty of young mids start their careers in the backline.

Note- Brackets are ages next year.

True, but at the same time, we already have players like McCluggage, J.Berry, Bailey, Robertson already playing midfield minutes for us in our Best 22, then we have Cockatoo, Rayner, Sharp, Starcevich maybe playing some midfield minutes for us in the future while also playing in their respectfully positions as well and then we have the Ashcrofts and Fletcher (F/S & Academy) coming over to the club in 2023+ that can play in the midfield/wing as well, so I wouldn't necessary say it's a massive need tbh but it would be nice to maybe draft or even trade another great quality player to our midfield group (preferably a big-bodied one like Mitch) to help have a point of difference against the opposition in that department.

+ if Rayner and Starcevich can play meaningful minutes in the midfield in the future we may not even need that often talked about big bodied mid.

His highlights don't show any signs of pace, but I'd be surprised if Constable ran a sub 3s 20m. Or 6:18 for 2km. Those are serious numbers for a 193cm mid.

Edit: Charlie ran 3.05s in his draft year and his best beep test was 12.9 which is pretty poor. I think we're looking at a different player. Actually, reading DC profile on CC, it was his footy iq that was his strength back then.

Question is whether Knevitt's lack of foot skills is too big an issue.

Constable ran 7.58 for 2km. Knevitt is planets ahead of him athletically. I agree the issue is whether his kicking is good enough.

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot more to talk about until the draft next week so I thought I'd try and put together a bit of a tier list, the tier's aren't necessarily based on talent or ability but more so my preference at the picks we currently hold, they're also not in any particular order.

Tier 1: Ideally at least one of these guys is available at our first pick and if so I hope we pick them.
Horne-Francis
Callaghan
Hobbs
Ward
Andrew
Rachelle
Erasmus
Goater
Wanganeen-Milera
Sinn
Johnson
Gibcus

Tier 2: If all the guys in tier 1 are gone then these are my preferences for our first pick, ideally we're only picking one for our second pick.
Chesser
Wilmot
Amiss
Draper
Bazzo
Butler
T. Brown
Sonsie

Tier 3: Guys I wouldn't be disappointed with but they're not my preference at either of our first round picks, would be disappointed if they were taken with pick 14 though. Would be happy if we managed to get any of these guys at 41.
Roberts
Van Rooyen
Taylor
Owens
Banks
Rankin
Fejo
McDonald
Hough
Alleer

I've probably missed a couple guys but anyone outside of this I either don't like the fit with us or would just rather let someone else take the risk on them. The more I think about it the more I really like how we're set up for this draft, might take a bit of luck but if we get one of the players from tier one to fall to us then we're positioned really nicely for the rest of the draft imo.

I might have missed the discussion but Superfooty/herald Sun full phantom draft had us take Goater/Sonsie/Lord with our picks.
This one hasn’t been discussed.

Quigley and I would both be happy with this outcome.

Quite a few teams make out like bandits, Adelaide and Richmond.
