Pretty confident we won’t be drafting another young ruck.Btw just checked out the first quarter of the tassie qld under 19s game and that ruck for tassie (26) looks very good. Not sure when he is eligible but hopefully we got our eye on him

Yeah knee problem very early, came back on but had another knock, doubt we’ll see him again today.Amiss injured? Haven’t seen much of him at all

Yeah, a fair bit of discussion on the draft board about how strong next year’s crop looks. Can’t complain about having good f/s or academy prospects but next years draft look very good, the talls playing today have been very impressive so far.
If Goater or Sinn are available at our first pick, and we pass on them, I’ll be a tad put out.
Banks is definitely a name that has been highlighted here on this board. Could he last to one of our third picks? I know I recently posted about not taking a KPP in the draft, however if we were take three ‘live’ picks and one was to be used later on a player like Banks then I would be open to it. I was of the belief that we had to upgrade Madden but I believe the rookie rules have changed, is that so? Earlier in the year the club highlighted run and carry and also KPP. I don’t personally see Amiss lasting till one of our picks and it will be interesting to see where Gibcus goes. The Suns desperately need KPP’s but they can get those with their two second rounders. I can see Gibcus slide purely as teams picking earlier than us have greater needs and possibly as their rankings might not have him as high. KPD’s taken early usually are next level talent at that position, does Gibcus show this? We’ve had no real viewing of these players so it’s hard to judge.I would be very happy with one of those guys but I will be a bit put out if we do not take at least one KP. We have an unbalanced list at the moment and are not likely to rebalance it next year.
With Amiss having the injury I am starting to hope he might be available when we pick. Getting him onboard would be help the balance a lot imo. Van Rooyan did well at the back and then swung forward to kick the winning goals against SA on the weekend. I would like him as well. Interestingly I was reading that van Rooyan has played some midfield this year. For those after a big bodied mid he would certainly fit that bill although I have not see how he goes there.
I have also been turning my mind to our third pick. The one guy who has been under the radar virtually all year and again missed the Qld v Tas match is Sam Banks. I haven't seen much of him but what I have he has looked good. Hard at it HBF with good disposal skills, AFL academy player. If he is there in the third round I hope we decide to take him. The other who I liked for us from that Tasmanian game was Sanders. Another mid/HBF with very nice skills.
Quigs, I don't believe we have list spots vacant for three picks in this draft. We may only use two picks and trade into next years with the remainder. However if we somehow manufacture three picks I think Triffettt is my guy for that pick. From the first game I saw him he caught my eye as someone with high end AFL traits. He can be developed (I believe) into a quality midfielder.I would be very happy with one of those guys but I will be a bit put out if we do not take at least one KP. Would love it if Erasmus got to us. Looks a great player. Would be happy to take him in the top 3. Not a fan of taking KP players in first round. We got guys like Andrews, mctsay and Gardner outside first round. Would rather bulk up our mids and flankers. Can use later picks on suspect key position players. Number one trait for me in any player is competitiveness. If they don’t burn when they lose it’s a red flag. At this stage makes more sense to keep our future first. Can use it during trade period next year if the salary cap permits or create a bidding war on draft night
WTF? Has Neale asked for a tradeIf we ended up with pick 8 say in a Neale deal, Erasmus is one I would be keen on us taking.

We only need to draft Triffett if someone else also wants him. If not we could just keep him as a VFL top-up and see how he goes. The top two open draft kids are Jason Horne-Francis and Callaghan.Seeing the Lions have list spot issues has their been any talk about the Lions eager to move up the draft order
Pick 14 & 18 equal to pick 4
Is their a player in the top 10 that fits a need for our club in the next two years
Is their another club/clubs likely to want to trade a top 10 pick for multiple picks
I’m pretty sure Triffet is 19 this year and ages out of our academy. We would have to pay him to come back as a VFL top up next year. Unless he wants to play for free.We only need to draft Triffett if someone else also wants him. If not we could just keep him as a VFL top-up and see how he goes. I still like Johnson as that taller mid that with a couple preseasons could become quite a physical player with the class and ball use to match it. Not sure how tall Arlo Draper is but I liked what I saw from him on the weekend before he got injured, played in defence so showed his versatility there. Would need a bit to go right for him but has the athletic profile to be an explosive mid that can float foward. The rest of the mids are shorter 180cm - 183cm, who I’m not so keen on, purely because we have Ashcroft and Fletcher coming in next year.
Personally I have Bazzo higher than JVR.They changed to rule temporarily so that rookies can have a fourth year on the rookie list without going back into the draft.
KM recently had Gibcus falling quite a lot and that is something I could definitely see happening. He has a reputation as an elite intercept defender but his one on one numbers are poor. Personally I am not that keen to take a defender in the first round who is below average man on man. FWIW he also had Bazzo in the 40s which I am not seeing.
