Was rated as a Top 5 prospect at the start of this year.
Yeah, top 3 even, however, the likes of Callaghan, Ward, Andrew, Gibcus, Erasmus, Hobbs and Amiss appear to have pushed up the boards past him and you’d think there is now a chance he could slip as far as our first selection at pick 16(after Daicos and Darcy bids). I’d still expect him to fall somewhere in the handful of selections just before ours but I’d love if he came to us, he has elite attribute’s in an area we need as well e.g. his pace. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tested really well at the combine and it regenerated some hype around him that see’s him fall in the top 10 come draft night. If that is the case I could happily settle with Wilmot or Chesser as somewhat similar types.

No secret Mac Andrew is my undisputed favourite in this years draft class but with him firming as a top 10 and potentially even top 5 pick, I’d love for us to end up with one of Sinn, Goater or Wanganeen-Milera at our first pick.

FWIW I’d happily package up our two first round selections to move up and pick Mac Andrew, I think he is going to be a game changer and could add something similar for us that Luke Jackson provides the Demons. If we were to do that though I’d want a selection around picks 25-30 coming back so we could add another mid or flanker type e.g. Sam Butler or Zac Taylor.

I’m really excited about what this draft could do for our list build. If we can utilise our two first round selections in that same range we selected Bailey and Starcevich a few years back and they end up of similar calibre to those guys, look out, it’ll do wonders for our team both short and long term.

How do we get Pick #1?

We have #14, #18 next year's first and a couple of third rounders this year. Anyone come up with a scenario that gets us to the value of pick one? All in on Horne Francis!!

Could be a bit of fun, have at it....

#14, #18 and next year's first (14-18) nets between 3307 and 3131 points so thats more than the 3000 value of pick one. But you can see both Lions and North fans finding that one hard to swallow.

Wouldnt mind Wanganeen-Milera but l reckon we won't pick him. Fagan likes his wingers to play contested and from the footage he seemed very outside. In saying that, the problem we have been having is that our wingers keep going to the contest and don't keep their width
I love watching him play but he is a bit outside great with the ball in his hand but doesn’t do the hard stuff. Doesn’t lay any tackles or get his own ball which would make him a liability during the finals. If a team thinks he could develop his deficiencies he could be the steal of this draft because he has elite vision and excellent kicking skills.

I think he's been asked to stay outside, one of the best parts of his game is how well he keeps width at a contest, it's the same thing the Melbourne wingers are so good at. Along with that he's the best ball user in the draft so I'm not sure I want him doing too much inside work. I don't believe he's afraid of it either, I've seen him take a couple intercept marks and back up into oncoming packs when he has to. I think he'd compliment out current midfield perfectly, imagine clean hands from Neale to McCluggage to weave through traffic then hand off to NWM to drill a pass onto the chest of Danhier. Unfortunately I don't think he's lasting to our pick anymore.

One name that has popped up lately on a few of the draft board's is Ronald Fejo Jr. Have absolutely no idea what his draft range is and I haven't watched a full game but his highlights package is unbelievably good. Has got a very similar game to NWM with similar traits with the way he moves and uses the ball. If we were able to get one of he or Sam Banks at our 3rd round pick it leaves some room to make a needs based pick at our second.

Is he still on the shorter side?

Pretty sure he’s 20 this year.

To have someone like Sinn or Goater slip to us, we probably need Mac Andrew, Jye Amiss and Matthew Johnson (and probably Sonsie and Rachelle) to all go before our selection, and for Hobbs not to slide.

Just had a bit of a google, he's listed at 178cm and 70kg so pretty light although I thought he looked a little bigger than that to the eye. Will be 20 by the time the draft comes around I'd imagine.

Was speaking to a mate today who's cousin taught Josh Goater last year. Apparently he is meant to have great character, a good head on his shoulders and leadership potential. Also mentioned he is a bit of a gun cricketer too. Hoping that somehow he manages to slide to us. Would be over the moon if we could land him.

Thinking about a couple picks swaps we could get involved in and with Gold Coast wanting to move picks into next year could we do
Suns receive: Lions future 1st
Lions receive: pick 19 + Suns future second/third

Not sure if Suns will fall for that again :tearsofjoy:

The condition with the Suns trading pick 19 is to also take a contracted player for the Suns to free up list space and salary.

Is that a condition from the AFL or just what the Suns have said? If it's just from the Suns I could see it changing.

It’s from the Suns.

Widely reported, and I don’t see why the Suns would change their mind on that. That’s the whole point of them having the pick up for trade.

I thought I saw they were wanting to push picks into next year as well, they've pick 22 as well which could be used.

I just posted on the non lions thread.

Pick 22 and late picks are being traded to Collingwood for a future second and third round picks.

Pick 19 and Macpherson are potentially being traded to North for a future second and third round picks.

AFL here you go Suns more 1st round picks to help you up the ladder quicker and sooner

Suns cool although we just piss them away as we still make bad list choices.
Same with most of our picks this year.
Hopefully we can get players next year
Suns have a bad year and come cup in hand end of 2022 season what the AFL going to do.

Wish we had spare spots to get in on the Suns pick deals

Sustain them indefinitely if it's in their long term code growth interests I'd say.
