So I guess tonight, catch an episode of Narcos, then Veep, then 30 Rock, check and see if we have had a pick/match yet.

Have to trust our recruiting team with this one.

They really haven't got it wrong at the top end of the draft in recent years with Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Bergman, MG, Jones, etc.

We've got 34 senior listed players, I think the minimum is 38, meaning we have at least four senior spots left.

Assuming we get Trent Dumont with either a late pick at the end of the draft, in the pre-season draft or as a delisted free agent (doesn't really matter which one), Jace Burgoyne somewhere in the third round, he would only cost us our second pick (it was #62, it'll probably be somewhere around #50), we then have two picks in a row near the end of the fourth round.

Could we get Jordan Lukac as a Category B rookie? His background is Zimbabwean, he's in our zone, we do need a developing ruckman, low risk high reward there
Can we put Farrell on the long term injury list and draft an extra Rookie?

Or a Supplementary list player?

Not sure how the LTI process works tbh.:think:

Its a max of 38 Senior and a total list of 44

EG - 38 Senior 4 Cat A 2 Cat B
EG - 37 Senior 5 Cat A 2 Cat B
EG - 36 Senior 6 Cat A 2 Cat B

Think next year goes back to the previous 40 Senior.

The Power will consider another pick exchange on Thursday so it can bridge the gap between its next selection, in the middle of the fourth round.

It has nominated father-son prospect Jase Burgoyne – whose dad is Port Adelaide premiership player Peter Burgoyne – but does not expect a rival club to bid on him until after pick 40.

Melbourne and Essendon have shown the strongest interest in the Woodville-West Torrens half-back/wingman.

With its later picks, the Power has been linked to the likes of North Adelaide duo Hugh Jackson and James Willis, as well as West Australian inside midfielder Kade Dittmar – the nephew of Port Adelaide great George Fiacchi.

The Power also has some interest in delisted North Melbourne on-baller Trent Dumont.

(wasn't aware of the Fiacchi-Dittmar connection - if only M. Pavlich had felt the same love for his uncle's(?) club...)

Port has been one of the teams to really embrace the pick swapping and targetting specific players. It is a lot more in line with the US-style drafts where its not unusual for teams to go wild with their swapping. Time will tell how something like this plays out but If the AFL keeps the pick swap rules in place I think we will see more and more moves like what Port did last night in the future.

I could see us swapping out our first next year for a second this year and a second next year. The club will be banking on another top 4 position (Sack Kern blah blah but is not unreasonable) so you are calling it a late first. We might only lose 5/6 spots in next year's draft depending on how it comes out in the wash while gaining a second back this year.

You posted this last week, but I assume it means we will know before this part of the draft starts whether we have a pick to use.

That's for Freo to speed date 17 suitors for pick 21.
