Anyone know if Jack Hayes has had any interest?
Would prefer him to any other tall in sanfl comp.
He will surely be rookied somewhere.

Anyone watched a bunch of Magpies games and saw how he went ? Even if he comes good he’s still more of a 2nd tall at best due to his size
yeah I’ve seen a bit of him.

He’s still a prospect who may or may not make it but there’s a fair bit to like. Apparently he’s 194cm after a growth spurt as someone shared a port article stating so here a while back.

That’s the perfect size for his game.

Athletically I don’t know his testing but he looks to have a good all round capacity here.

He’s a decent ball user, I don’t think he will cut teams up but seems to make good choices and have decent vision.

Mostly I like the fact he looks a natural defender. Seems to mostly have a good awareness when to play tight or zone off, doesn’t mind contact, can time a good spoil. His body is really developing as well with those shoulders filling out.

he reminds me very much of hombsch. I’m not expecting a star but there’s a chance he can become a pretty reliable player.
We need to get a ruck in now. It can be a rookie pick like Ladhams was. Start the development now.
wait for the monster ruck class next year. There’s just no one worth adding this year really and as rucks can take a while I don’t see the point in adding a player this year who won’t play in 2022 anyway.

There’s also every chance that a physically developed ruck like verrall or broadbent or a more natural better talent like Barnett will be ready to play before any ruck we take this year anyway.

Johnson will have to get past Freo's first 2 picks & the Eagles pick
(which might happen if they pick Jye Amiss, Josh Goater & Neil Erasmus)

I think we will look at

194cm Mid - Mitch Knevitt with our first pick

Burgoyne

I hope we get Hugh Jackson with a later pick

a delisted Mid from
- 192cm Brayden Sier (who has experience in Collingwood's last Grand final appearance) or
- 188cm Dylan Clark (tough hard running mid - 2019 rising star nom) or
- 186cm Trent Dumont (ranked 18th in the AFL for tackles, top 10 in Norths BF the last 3yrs & is a professional operator)

and keep a pick for the mid season draft
sier has been on the outer at Collingwood unable to get into the side for ages and has a history. C4 regaled us / and other boards here with stories of siers unprofessionalism long before the Phil-in debacle.
I've settled on Sonsie for our first and most likely pick.
Yeah I would like that.

I have some question marks over sonsie but at least there’s some real x-factor and he’s a position of need.

I reckon the aflw fatties would be happy with this.
Wouldn't be surprised if that was a small part of the reason why they decided to do it. I have searched far and wide to find AFLW players weight stats and they are nowhere to be seen. It started when I wanted to find out Sabrina Frederick's weight as she looked so much bigger than her opponents. Couldn't find it. I was a bit shocked when I found out she was only 182cms tall.

The Top 13 is starting to take shape:
————————————-
1. Horne-Francis NM
2. Daicos CL
3. Darcy WB
4. Callaghan GWS
5. Gibcus GC
6. Hobbs AD
7. Ward HW
8. Erasmus FR
9. Rachele RI
10. Amiss FR
11. Andrew SK
12. Johnson WC
13. Wanganeen-Milera ES

Leaving us with one of Sinn, Sonsie or Goater

We then take J.Burgoyne and Dittmar with a lower pick.

My early prediction:

National Draft

Goater
J.Burgoyne
Dittmar or Stagg
————————-

Rookie Draft

Fejo Jnr
Mayes
————————-

Mid Year Draft

[one spot left]

The Sarah Perkins rule?

I've been surprised with rise of Knevitt in the BF phantom drafts.

Not that I know anything about him, other than Twomey has him outside his top 30.

Just his name popped up here a couple of times and saw he's climbing the phantom rankings.

He is tall for a mid. That’s enough for people to see bontempelli and roll with it.

Could make him the next Bontempelli, or could make him the next Jarrad Jansen. And if your response to that is 'who?', then that proves my point.

He had some huge game at the end of the year too and everyone wants to be the one to pick the late bolter like Cripps.

Lately we have seemed to do the opposite of that. We have tended to pick the guy that had played well in the previous seasons and maybe slid a bit. Rozee from his u16 year, Georgiades. This makes me feel that someone like sinn or sonsie, who were both very highly rated earlier in the year are more likely.

Only problem with this is there wasn’t much underage footy in 2020 either. Georgiades was excellent in his underage year and almost played in a senior WAFL Grand Final. He missed most of his draft year. Rozee was a star in U16s but also played pretty well in North’s senior premiership in his draft year.

Sinn and Sonsie have a very limited body of work in 2020 and 2021 since their AA U16 achievements in 2019. There is increased risk attached to relying on form from 2 years ago as opposed to 12 months (Georgiades) and a few weeks (Rozee).

This is true for anyone outside of sa and wa though.

True. All I’m saying is there is added risk in relying on form from two years ago, when there is little exposed form since then. That wasn’t true for Rozee and Georgiades. There are plenty of kids who are AA at 16yo who never get drafted.

Cal Twomey said Port is looking at the possibility of getting another pick in the draft...possibly Western Bulldogs pick 23.
Hopefully not finalised until on the night of the draft.
Don't want some ****ers bidding on Burgoyne early just to wreck our draft strategy.

The only thing I can see being worth that for the dogs is next years first. I would hope that we would be very unlikely to do that.
