Football strategy wise it actually does make a ton of sense to flip one or two or our AFL level half back flankers for draft picks or positional needs. It's almost dumb how loaded we are at the HB flanks.
Unless Sinn is a sure thing to develop into a midfielder, I don't want to see us drafting another HBF.
We need players who have already shown clear midfield ability. Even Rozee's development into an AFL standard midfielder is not guaranteed, let alone Bergman and Jones.

Burton, Houston, Bonner, Bergman, Jones, potentially Jase Burgoyne, and then if you include Back Pockets, DBJ and Frederick.
Think Bergman is wing, but even so, if the noise i am hearing that Mead is going back there this year then we probably do have enough.
Gee i would like to see Burton up around the ball.

I like Sinn, really athletic, awesome kick, takes the game on, good game sense and golly does he look like he'll fill out to be a strong man. Those shoulders are crazy.

But still, he is currently a half back and hasn't had time to shine as a mid, so I still wouldn't have him top of my wants. I also feel it's easy to get attached to phantom drafts to look at a player's value. Phantom drafts have been knocking Sonsie down for instance, but I don't see it myself. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he went early teens.

Here's my current want list in order.

Sonsie
Draper
Rachele
Sinn
Goater
Johnson

And I'll be bitterly disappointed if we don't get one of them haha.

Of the realistic options, I would go:

Johnson
Sinn
Sonsie
Goater
Wanganeen milera
Draper

I don’t think rachele is any chance to be there at our pick. But would be at the top.

Also I had a listen to the lystics/draft central guys first round mock podcast today, and they had ward slipping to our pick at 14, which would be fantastic, but then we inexplicably traded it to Richmond for 27 and 28. Fair to say I wasted my time listening to that.
Yeah, why would we trade up, just to trade down. A lot of these mocks are just lazy when it comes to Port’s picks.

Had a Gut feel that Ward might slide, smallish , slower mid. Skillful and gets lots of ball thou. Might just slide.

Melbourne Grammar boy, so would get us brownie points at AFL House ;)

That would boil down to Ladhams and 16 for 27 and 28, which would be up there with the worst trades of all time.

I wouldn’t trade 12 for 27 and 28 but would strongly consider trading 12 for 15 and 28
Also does anyone know why we would upgrade Frederick onto the list when the AFL said category b rookies could stay a rookie for an extra year? Seems like a wasted list spot or do we maybe have another category b rookie in mind?

That wouldn’t have been possible in this phantom because conveniently Richmond also managed to trade up to pick 2 from gws with 7 and 15 to get Callaghan. Someone involved was a Richmond fan I think.

Think what Isaiah Dudley has going against him is that he didn't go up a level when given the opportunity at sanfl reserves level?
If you are 168cms tall and want to play AFL you need to be tearing games apart at that level.
Might be one of those players we could ask to train with us after he's overlooked in the draft?
We do have a place for a defensive small forward but you would have to work your arse off.
