Mega Thread 2021 Draft

Apparently North want to come over and meet the parents and do the full sales pitch and have been waiting for Covid to settle down so they can come over.

They will have to do a zoom meeting before the draft. North Officials won't be getting an exemption before then.
Surely even if you had planned a face to face you would do a zoom meet and greet anyway.

We need to hire a draft tampering manager. The role of the draft tampering manager will be to identify the best 15 and 16 year olds in sa and secretly pay them not to play until the draft where we draft them late and say we can’t believe they slid so far. There’s so many options, fake injuries play basketball. We should be hiding kids right now.
We’d be better off hiring some talent developers, since most of the issue is how poor SA is at drafts, due to the SANFL can’t develop juniors properly.

Why? If they believe they have to do a great sales job up front, to avoid flight risk after 2 years, the best way to do it is face to face and not depend on technology working 100%. It might be a 90 minute to 2 hour presentation / meeting. They also might have wanted to wait until he finished his commitment to South Adelaide before they talked to him so they can't be accused of distracting him from playing his best in the finals. They have 8 or more weeks to talk to him before the draft.

We should create a cosy relationship with an Engligh private school and a County cricket club.

Send some boys over for a year or two on exchange :)

Horne-Francis looks like he could be something special, but I'm a tad confused with his name.
I know Flash Francis is his step dad, but does anyone know which surname he grew up using before he opted for the hyphenated change at 18?

Horne is his Dad's surname.

Ouch. Why bother then?
He has above average agility, contested work and gets a bit of the footy. He's also reasonably strong and tough over the ball considering his size and can defend well.

He just can't make it as an AFL half back though. Too slow, not enough penetration in his kick, not creative with the ball. I have no idea why he is played in that position because it doesn't suit him at all. When he was at the Magpies he more played as a back pocket and that actually suited his strengths a bit more in terms of his defence and toughness.

He's played a bit of midfield at the U18 level and dominates... as you would expect given the quality of that comp. Long term he could be an AFL level midfielder maybe in the style of a Shane Edwards type if he can build some size.

I see from Lore's table that the Dogs are in an even more dire position than Collingwood regarding points to match a bid on their F/S Darcy - any bid before pick 12 would more than wipe out their 1044 points, but at least they've still got pick 17 to try and split into more picks/points. They might have to trade someone worth more than Lapinski, or dip into next year's picks.

Food for thought. I have bolded the non mid fielders / non rucks. Top picks aren't as big a guarantees as the media and fans push.
