Stengle doesn't make much sense. We've already got Farrell, Williams, Woodcock, McEntee, Schofield and Burgoyne as reserves medium/small forwards.

Why not focus more on developing midfielders, the SANFL side currently has Sam Mayes, SANFL captain Cam Sutcliffe and (Insert forward flanker here).

To put it in perspective Stengle's 2021 was slightly worse than Rowe's 2020. View attachment 1255320View attachment 1255321View attachment 1255322View attachment 1255324View attachment 1255323 Screenshot_20211007-201619_Chrome.jpg

Agree with passing on Stengle. Can of worms that guy!

But McEntee is a mid, even if Ken wants him to be a forward.
Farrell an ACL and questionable forward capabilities - more an Amon type wingman.
Schofield always been a mid.
Williams needs to prove he can get and stay AFL fit.
Ditto Burgoyne.

Wouldn't be against nabbing a couple of genuine small forwards, since Robbie is close to the end, and Motlop is borderline delistable, whilst Fantasia is an injury waiting to happen.

Maybe Lohmann, J Motlop or Stretch worth a look at?

Second last on Lore's ladder as I post this - only Carlton after all their acquisitions have less points than us
Yep. We’ve skipped this draft. First round + Burgoyne, and we call it a day. That seems to be the plan.

Surprised to see that Adelaide haven’t nominated Blaine O’Loughlan as part of their NGA.

Though early in the year he was looking like a first rounder and only ever heard good news about him but now he’s looking to slide apparently. Wouldn’t be against getting another 30s pick before a likely Burgoyne bid to try nab him in that case. Sounds like a lively type.

He’s a 171cm defender who cant defend and has poor skills. Hard pass

Teams with the most amount of scouts in Vic watching these players the furthest out and getting to school games as well as nab league will be the clubs that make out of this draft well by identifying the undervalued Vic kids.

So basically the rich well staffed Vic clubs.

There will be some late ‘gems’ but I’m not sure it’ll be a big loss or as biased.

there hasn’t been much footy and attendance has been limited.

And I agree with your other posts that there are about 25-30 good prospects and not much depth in the draft. I think clubs will be shy beyond pick 50. Those late players who would have benefited from a year of development will likely be passed on by everyone and need to head to the VFL.

Freo are interested apparently - Peter Bell on 6PR last night mentioned him and Nasiah W-M as players they were impressed by. Callers then complained "Why aren't you looking at at our local West Aussie boys...?" Fair point in Freo's case.

I'd say over the last few years we've given Parker a shitload to work with. We've picked up Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Bergman, Georgiades and Jones who all look like long term locks at AFL level over the last 3 years, with hopes for Mead, Schofield & Williams to come on next season as well. This whilst also bringing in Burton, Lycett, Aliir, Fantasia and Finlayson who are first 22 players by trade.

Still plenty of time left to improve our draft position as well this year and/or next as well.

That’s basically off the back of two big draft hands, and off of trading out a bunch of sought after first 22 players, a feat which isnt replicable on a consistent basis.

There is reason to be concerned… we’ve shown a willingness to duck out of drafts.. and sometimes that is warranted… but right now the club has several people at the top who must be under an enormous amount of pressure to justify the decisions they’ve made in the past decade.

Typically that doesn’t lead to good things in any venture much less sports

hopefully there’s more decision makers with a cautionary eye thinking long term right now.

Any thoughts on a NT lad named Ronald Fejo (jnr) plays for West Adelaide reserves?
Decent highlights reel - speed, acceleration from static start, one grab outside mid who hits targets by foot.
Really opens the game up and makes things happen.
Not sure if he has a defensive aspect to his game at all?
Late or rookie pick perhaps?

Did not make the state screening - no one interested:

FREEMAN SEARCHES FOR AFL LIFELINE

FORMER top-10 pick Nathan Freeman hasn't given up on receiving another AFL lifeline.

Freeman, 26, nominated for the NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft this season but was overlooked despite significant interest from 2020 premiers Richmond among a host of other clubs.

It came after a blistering VFL campaign with Frankston, where the former Collingwood and St Kilda midfielder averaged 36.7 disposals per game and amassed more than 40 touches in five of his first seven matches.

Freeman is now working at Connors Sports Management alongside leading player agents Paul Connors, Robbie D'Orazio and Nick Gieschen, but hasn't given up on his AFL dream after it was prematurely cut short by persistent hamstring injuries in 2018.

Charlie dean looks like he could be a good get best young player in vfl and a key defender not sure he gets to our pick63 but if he’s still still around in the 40’s I’d be happy to buy in to get him

also everyone is talking about teams going after Ben king I have a feeling gold coast could be building a war chest of picks next year to have a crack at max king that would make them an attacking force for a long time

How tall is Charlie Dean?

I haven’t seen him since but as a junior Dean was absolutely 194-195 so I’m not sure why you think it’s bull? Had long arms as well from memory.

I haven’t watched him since to know how he is tracking but I do like the idea of targeting key defenders with late picks / rookie picks.

The amount of key defenders that have been unearthed that way is pretty remarkable

Yeah not sure what he’s talking about. Not to bright that 1
He was on the radio today and apparently he played decently on the some AFL listed players and he should only get stronger in an AFL environment
