This kid sounds like the type of player Port should be looking to nab with one of our later picks.

the comparisons are obviously a bit OTT but you are always punting with later picks. It may as well be for a local that if he develops would fill a need.

Goater, like all other draft hopefuls, has had to settle for meeting potential suitors through a laptop in 2021.

“17 out of the 18 were on Zoom and Sydney were able to come to my house mid-year when we were out of lockdown,” he said of the interview process.

“It was a bit of a different experience. I would have definitely preferred them all to be face to face but couldn’t do anything about it and everyone was in the same situation.”

Asked to name the clubs that have shown more interest, Goater was forthcoming.

“Essendon, Hawthorn, Sydney and GWS,” he revealed.

“Sydney twice that I’ve doubled up with, so there was four actually.”

Johnny Platten was talking him up the other day, but there was a lot of "if he's willing to put the work in" type riders in what he was saying about him.

Twomey and Shehan don't have Sonsie going in their first round of 21 picks. I'm assuming port traded up to be in the top bracket of picks which is 14 or 15 if you include Goater.

I wouldnt be shocked if we traded into the second round for Motlop.

Best case scenario would be us drafting Sinn at 14 and then Sonsie slips to mid 20s (which is a huge possibility) and we trade into second round to pick him up. Cal Twomey did say we are interested in another top 30 pick so who knows whats brewing

I like Sinn, really athletic, awesome kick, takes the game on, good game sense and golly does he look like he'll fill out to be a strong man. Those shoulders are crazy.

But still, he is currently a half back and hasn't had time to shine as a mid, so I still wouldn't have him top of my wants. I also feel it's easy to get attached to phantom drafts to look at a player's value. Phantom drafts have been knocking Sonsie down for instance, but I don't see it myself. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he went early teens.

Here's my current want list in order.

And I'll be bitterly disappointed if we don't get one of them haha.

Football strategy wise it actually does make a ton of sense to flip one or two or our AFL level half back flankers for draft picks or positional needs. It's almost dumb how loaded we are at the HB flanks.
