Reading thru that twitter thread....

When sending money, dont put anything in the comments, dont put fantasy, or league, or football, leave it blank. Send money as a "gift" too, paypal dont take a cut. I always send money as "gift" and no comments in the comment section.

People also say use LeagueSafe, but not sure if available in Australia

Will have a look around for other paypal-like services.

The alternative is via direct bank deposit only.

There actually is something in the paypal terms of service forbidding gambling, games, entry fees, fantasy, etc. Weird tho considering many league sites and many fantasy sites use paypal, if you win they pay you via your linked paypal account, the only option. Yahoo fantasy for eg.

This a new crackdown since paypal bought out venmo recently.

Don't let money sit in your paypal account, paypal often seize money if they suspect illicit business dealings.

Only really the big cash leagues are in danger of getting caught, thousands of dollars in entry fees and payouts.

Some people stupidly depositing paypal money (even like 15k) into casinos or online casinos.

Small friends leagues and under $600 "should" pass detection -- just dont put anything in comments section, and use the "gifts/family and friends" option....do not use goods and services

Still, paypal algorithms starting to catch on....if they see a recurring period when funds are sent that are all same cost and then a concurrent payout to people in that same group.

It's weird because gambling sites accept paypal funds and payout winnings to a linked paypal account. Running a gambling business therefore is illegal.

But even if youre not taking a rake and not advertising paypal, many getting caught for small time "friends only" leagues.

Paypal is not a bank, people misinformed. All money in paypal belongs to paypal. You are lucky if they let you keep it. Why people should never let money sit in there, or let it collect higher and higher

New US laws for businesses, paypal etc must report all transactions over $600 to the IRS ....yeah but theyre still cracking down on small friends leagues, etc.

The operators of the gambling sites do deals with PayPal.
