Just get Richmond to WA. They haven't played the Eagles in Perth for 3+ years. Always seem to play Richmond outside WA and end up finishing 5th on percentage.
Last played in Perth in 18, Scheduled to play in 2020. Would have done so if WA didn't have the strictest border restrictions in the country. How is that 3+ years?
Oh, and don't worry, Optus is close to exactly the same size as the MCG. Eagles more than comfortable playing at the MCG since Optus was built.
Good. I'm glad. No more excuses then.

Tigers have had their dream fixture run, 3 flags. Time for them to actually get a tough draw for the first time in a very long time.

Keep on hearing how good Richmond is. Well then they don't need leg ups with the fixture do they.

Tigers are 6-2 in their last 8 games in Perth. Be careful what you wish for

Lol. Richmond just won a flag with a grand total of 0 games with home ground advantage. I'm impressed that West Coast supporters are still clinging to this narrative. You're narrative has been destroyed beyond repair but you're still pushing it. I don't know if that's admirable or not.

The MCG is your home ground fool.

I'd would have loved the Eagles to have had Carlton round 1 every year for the past 4. THAT is a super soft start to the season and 4 points gifted to Richmond by the AFL fixture all for $$$$$$$.

You can paint it any way you like buddy but that is the truth of it.

Then over the same period no games v Eagles in WA, so another nice little leg up.

You've won flags with a fair bit of assistance from the fixture, that is beyond question.

So suck it up, Tigers should be getting the most difficult fixture of ANY side after 3 flags in 4 years. Do you disagree?

Those border restrictions didn't stop other teams playing in WA did it?

Eagles were scheduled to play at home v Tigers in 2020. AFL back flipped and even tried to make the QLD game a home game for the Eagles. That was at least changed.

So can anyone explain why the Tigers didn't go West in 2020 when other sides did? All very convenient really.

Richmond can't play every non-Vic club away though. They didn't play West Coast in Perth this year, but in case you hadn't noticed there are tougher non-Vic teams than the Eagles. And Richmond played both of them away and beat both of them away.

Please list the years and opponents. The devil is in the detail...........always.

2019, round 8 vs Fremantle: 111-86 Win
2018, round 19 vs West Coast: 83-130 Loss
2017, round 22 vs Fremantle: 155-51 Win
2016, round 9 vs Fremantle: 83-45 Win
2016, round 4 vs West Coast: 57-125 Loss
2015, round 10 vs Fremantle: 97-70 Win
2014, round 18 vs West Coast: 59-42 Win
2013. round 10 vs West Coast: 103-61 Win

West Coast only 2-2 over that time despite finishing 1st, 4th, 5th and 7th in the years they played Richmond. They also pumped the then undefeated Dockers in 2015

Yes. Teams shouldn't get handicapped draws. Been saying this for years

Richmond & West Coast were originally scheduled to play twice in 2020. That was changed when the fixture was shortened for a 17 game home & away season.

Not sure how the shortened fixture makes May 2018 “3+ years ago”— but nice melt.

It's your perogative.

So should Richmond get the toughest draw next season? Yes or no?

Yeah you belted Freo in 2015 when they were 9-0.

Funny thing is Richmond has beaten freo in perth in the last 3 times, Actually, belted us in the last 2. Coincidently, Freo has been rebuilding since 2016 and hasnt made finals since 2015 and on the other hand Richmond has made finals since 2017.

Keep ignoring the 'elephant in the room buddy.

It's your prerogative.

So should Richmond get the toughest draw next season? Yes or no?

The "Elephant in the room" is that you're entire argument is based on hyperbole & misinformation.

Let's look at the facts of what you're suggesting:
  • Richmond HAS played against the WCE in Perth in the past 3 years (March 2018) and would've played WCE in Perth this year in R5 if it wasn't for the pandemic. So your "Richmond hasn't played the Eagles in Perth in 3+ years" melt is just that--- a melt.
  • The WCE Vs Richmond game that was originally scheduled for the resumed R5 (before further border restrictions) made logical sense. The game was originally scheduled as a R5 primetime game in Perth and the match up was an appealing one to the AFL & broadcasters after the season had been back for a few weeks in that primetime time slot. At that stage the Eagles were REFUSING to play anywhere but Queensland (even when teams could fly in/fly out of Victoria to QLD) and the Eagles had already played the other teams in the hub outside of Fremantle (and the AFL would do anything to avoid a Western derby in Brisbane).
  • When the Western Australian 'hubs' were being set up the biggest difficulty was finding 2 Victorian clubs who hadn't played each other AND one of WCE/Freo already. Richmond had already played Carlton, St. Kilda, Hawthorn, Collingwood & Melbourne in those first 5 weeks. I remember going into the exact possibilities of this back in July so I'm not going to now but from memory the only teams Richmond could've been matched with to send to Perth was Essendon & The Western Bulldogs (the only other Victorian team Richmond played in the second half of the season was Geelong who had already gone to WA).
Richmond didn't go to Western Australia because the fixturing didn't work out that way due to the limitations of the Western Australian hard border. In fact many of the limitations of the AFL fixture were caused by one of two things:
  1. The Western Australian hard border restrictions
  2. The refusal of those initial hub teams to fly in/fly out of Queensland early on leading to some Victorian clubs needing to play 6 interstate sides in the second half of the season.

Yeah, but we did show interest in hosting the grand final despite travel restrictions.

...and it was made very clear by the AFL that they had no interest in working with the Western Australian government to achieve that due to those travel restrictions. It's not a stakeholder that the AFL sees as a positive ally at the moment, but more a frustration for making the 2020 season more difficult.

They should introduce an extra round every season so that 1-6, 7-12 and 13-18 play each other twice so that there is equality among these categories rather than Richmond missing out on playing West Coast in Perth, Brissy not playing the Cats at Geelong etc. The extra round is to double up interstate rival clashes and get some Victorian sides doubling up against sides from outside their zone.

As I said, I think Tigers vs. Pies x2, Dogs vs. Saints x2, Blues vs. Dees x2 and Hawks vs. Cats x2 would be the way to do it next season. They should be all pretty good games. The Victorian match-ups would vary depending on rankings, so if you had Carlton 8th and Collingwood 12th, but Richmond 4th, you might have the Blues playing the Tigers twice instead of the Pies.

Also, open next season with Richmond vs. Collingwood at the G

1:Id like to see the bye rounds over 3 weeks gone. Have Round 11 or 12 as a split round. have 4 games one week and 5 games the next. bye rounds annoy us all and ruin Supercoach :D
2: Get rid of the pre finals bye.
3: 24 Game season.. 2 extra games this weeks to make up for a bit of lost $$ this year. play those extra games in a "footy frenzy" set up.
4: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT A POXY 17 GAME SEASON!

Sorry, make that Bombers vs. Blues twice and North vs. Melbourne twice since the Bombers and North would already play each other twice after both finished in the bottom 6.

I hate split rounds. Just have a bye with no footy and keep the pre-finals bye. :tonguewink:

its laughable how people think we had a good draw this year.

We played and won in SA, NT, QLD, NSW and VIC. Some clubs only played in 2 states with a lot less travel.

I'd like to see as many reverse fixtures as possible since 2018, so Carlton playing Geelong at Marvel, Adelaide playing Brissy in Adelaide, Freo vs. Melbourne which hasn't happened in Perth since 2015, Collingwood vs. Sydney hasn't been in Melbourne since 2013! etc.

Who cares, we have 3 flags in 4 years. :trophy::trophy::trophy:

We have shown we can play anywhere, anytime and beat anyone when it matters the most. Unlike your pretenders however we tend to leave our best work for later in the year. I'd even be happy to play you clowns in April over here again, let you have that petty win you so desperately crave just so you can feel important again. :tearsofjoy:

You must have been pretty upset watching us win another flag on the weekend, my bet is you were fuming and probably sulked all night.

Eagles were clearly disadvantaged by us playing our home game against them at MetriconCG, probably would’ve won the flag otherwise.
