Yep I’ll be watching on TV as I didn’t renew my membership. Still support the team like crazy and yell at the tv but not a financial supporter.
If nothing else... att least you followed through.

Plenty of cowards claimed they'll be cancelling their memberships, yet I guarantee we will still have a 70k+ membership base next year.

Once to Perth and Brisbane is common for all Vic clubs unless you sell games.

Biggest factor is the double up matches. We slipped into 6 and this has earned us a tough draw. Amongst the top 6 Rich and Geel would be tougher but Bris and Port don’t look like they are going away.

Middle 6 I reckon WCE and Carl may be the toughest combo and Ess not the easiest bottom 6 side

On any basis our draw looks tough in Dec but who knows when it all boils down. Usually isn’t much difference but for what it’s worth this is one of the tougher draws anyone got for 2021. IMHO.
Couldn't disagree more.

No Richmond/Geelong x2 - only once to Perth/Brisbane. And only one interstate game in last 9 rounds.

Works for me.

Not sure too many excuses will avail themselves.

Tigas & Pussies twice wouldn’t bother me.

Two pet hates of the fixture rear their ugly head again.

1. Two home games at Marvel Stadium, though the consolation is that they're against interstate teams rather than Marvel tenants such as the Saints, Dogs or Roos.

2. Another interstate trip with the Swans. Not including this year due to exceptional circumstances, the last time we didn't play Sydney interstate for a whole calendar year was 2002. Further, we haven't hosted them in Melbourne since 2013.

Clearly its some agreement in place; Whether its for $$ reasons, or... pennance for Eddie with the Adam Goodes incident.

Yep said I was going to and did. At Xmas dinner other family members who are members at other clubs said the same thing. Not worth the money when the tv coverage is so good plus they’d been members for a long time and family comes first now.

When do we find out IF we can go to the Games or Not?

Assume at this stage that we can go to games (For example, MCG is allowing people to go to the Boxing Day test) but that can change very quickly. If there’s a Covid outbreak during footy season then the government will cancel crowds in an instant.

Really? 5 interstate trips, ...

Why is there a perception that the number interstate trips has a bearing on draw ease or difficulty?

We have traditionally travelled well as a team?

Looks like there’s a bit of COVID contingency built into that fixture.

As far as I can see from our fixture and that of a few other clubs, every club plays every other club bar 1 up to round 17. If the league needs to shorten the H&A season like they did in 2020, they’ll be able to pull the trigger on that easily. It’d just involve creating a new round 18 out of a hodge lodge of selected games and then every team will have played every other team.

I only care about who we play twice, and which of the interstate teams we have to play against away on their turf. Obviously playing the better teams away is a tougher ask.

Thats the only determinant about whether a draw is tough or easy. The rest doesnt matter so much.

So.. who we play twice.
In 2020 h&a ladder order we play twice the Power, (1) Lions (2) , Eagles (5) , Blues (11) and Bombers (13).

Thats a reasonably tough draw but not unexpected nor terrible given ladder position. In fact if we have to play top eight teams twice, then its preferable that they be interstate teams so at least you have an opportunity to win at home even if you cant beat them away... and come out 1-1 at the end. This also means that we play the mid table interstate teams at home... Giants Suns Dockers ... increasing our chances of winning those games (Losing to the Giants and Dockers away this year cruelled our season so happy to face them on home territory). That leaves us with away games against the two weakest teams... Swans and Crows... who we should beat anywhere any time.

Happy with no double ups against either Grand Finallist or the Dogs or Saints

Be interesting to know what % W/L for Victorian teams but I’d hazard a guess we’re an exception to the rule on interstate travel.

Edit: I just had a bit of a squizz and our interstate record isn’t actually as good as I would have thought. Of the 157 I/S games we’ve played it 78-0-79. And as I say, I’d have thought we were 1 of the better Vic teams.

In recent times we've been really good, but in the early days of the national league we were terrible interstate.
Some really poor efforts in Sydney and that horror run at the gabba 20 years ago would distort that winning %.
