A club not drafting someone who went before their first available pick is hardly something to criticise them for.

Best thing that happened to Bombers was Daniher leaving I reckon.
Has helped the Lions not at all. The minute Hipwood went down it was overs.

Nathan Jones deserves a Premiership medal. If Melb make it, I really hope they play him.
If he starts as the sub, or gets subbed off.. He has earned being gifted a Premiership win.

They look so composed, so much skill. I hate to give them this kind of credit, but they've finally built a team that just works from top to bottom.

Luckily they drafted McGovern, naughton, taylor, English, barrass... oh wait.

So they are fault for not drafting someone who went before their first pick because they didn't take Naughton a few draft earlier? Or go early on a player just because they are from WA?

Leaving the 2016 draft with Sean Darcy as their future ruckman instead of English ended up a great result for them. Darcy is the far superior player.

If Melbourne make it they won't be playing Jones. It's sentiment like that that was holding them back in the first place.

You play the team that is fit and in form.

Jones was gifted 300 games. They are not gonna risk their first flag in over 50 years on him trying to keep up with the game.

I'd be filthy if we tried to manufacture something like that for Geary next year.

Win the flag first. Honor the champion clubman later.

Melbourne's only noticeable weakness is not having a lockdown small defender if they verse Port in the Grand Final they'll struggle to contain Fantasia and Gray. Id still have them as favourites though in that match up

Not exactly 100%- Geelong won the clearances easily last night- Danger had 8 same as Boak. Port had a very good defence, had leg speed and made a heap more tackles (pressure) there's your conundrum about recruiting mid, mid, mid. Check out melbournes defence, forward line and ruck strength and leg speed

Port could get them with their smalls. They play a tall backline and Charlie Cameron kicked 5 tonight.

If Port don't just bomb it in straight to May or Lever, do Melbourne have the defenders to stop the onslaught of smalls Port have - Gray, Butters, Fantasia, Motlop, Rozee.

Don't get hung up when people don't agree with you, I disagreed with what you said, it doesn't mean you were wrong or wrong to say it.
I share my opinion, sometimes it makes me look dumb. That's fine with me lol

Fair point, but Geary can't be compared to Jones. I'd compare Jones more to a Jack Steven (if he hadn't left St Kilda) rather than a Geary.
If it was up to me, I'd have Jones in the team. I understand why others wouldn't. He deserves it after all the shit he's copped over the years.

I think Chocco has been huge for them too. He’s charismatic and smart and very experienced.

Hope we get some really good additions to our coaching panel.

A lot of people predicted us to be about 10-12 wins. We had the worst draw and worst injury list in the comp and still got 10.

We are the most disappointing team if you severely overrated us.

Agree. Many people greatly over rated our performance last year because finals were so unexpected. We only qualified with a win in the final round and our elim final could've gone either way.

We only won 10 from 17 in the Home and Away games with a favorable draw and few injuries.

In retrospect we were a mid tier team who finished well enough to qualify.

This year we were in the same bracket but didn't take out chances.

Disappointing, yes. But hit hard with injuries and a tough fixture and it wasn't that hard to foresee our ultimate ladder position. Unless you rated last year more highly than it probably was.
