BUTTERS SUFFERS NERVE SETBACK
Zak Butters’ return from a syndesmosis injury has been delayed after the Port Adelaide young gun suffered some nerve damage in that leg.

Butters has been on the sidelines since Round 4, when he suffered the injury to his left ankle against reigning premiers Richmond.

He had surgery on the injury and after starting running last week the 20-year-old noticed some weaknesses in his lower leg.

Scans have revealed that from the same incident Butters suffered a nerve injury.

Port have said it will prolong the rehabilitation process, and there is now no set timeline on when the young gun will return.

They did say up to 10 weeks as they really don't know how long it will take for the nerve to settle down, fingers crossed it won't be anywhere near as long as that.

Assuming the problem is trauma to the nerve, he is looking at somewhere between six and twelve weeks for the nerve to heal. As four weeks have gone by, it could be anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks for the nerve to heal. So he could be ten weeks away before he plays again in the AFL.

okay can pretty much rule out a quick comeback. Now just get it 100% right, if that’s 10 weeks or 13 weeks. Just get it right, get the nerve damage better so in future years there is no issue with it

Hopefully more of a pinched nerve then serious nerve damage.
Don't hear many nerve injuries in footy.
Was saying only minutes before his injury he will be offered million dollar contracts to go home in a couple of yrs but we will Get the pleasure of watching him for the 12yrs.
Just get him right don't rush or let him rush back.
