Cars or canoes this afternoon

I'm drinking with 4 V8 fans who are going ballistic at this no race.
Thier opinions range from.
Learn to drive in the rain like every other person who holds a licence.
This stuff spells the death knell for car racing in Australia.
Will they suspend Bathurst if it rains and there is water across track.
Do what I do "slow down".
Didn't they run the warm up race?
When this track was reconstructed didn't drainage laterally on all kerbsides get done.
Who's in charge of this cluster clusterfukc?

Race done

Well done SVG on another championship

It’s a shame the race was called off … I thought as a car driver you drive to the conditions …. I think they took the easy way out and made the decision because teams didn’t want their cars banged up before Bathurst …. What happens now with similar weather at any other race ?

What happens when you paid to go see a race and didn't get to see it?
In most sports you get your money back if the game is washed out.

Harder to judge this one. The support categories got to race, but the main event didn't. Not sure what obligation that puts on the race organisers.

If it were a double header at the G between Collingwood and Richmond AFL and VFL teams, yet only the VFL game went ahead, would you expect your money back?
I would.

Anyone need a ticket for Bathurst?
I've got a 6 day General admission + paddock access ticket for sale. (Just the 1 ticket sorry)
Rrp $230 - happy to let it go for $100 ono.
PM me if you're interested or know someone who is.
Cheers

the race doesn't start until 12:15pm? feels like it starts later every year. I take it this is a TV driven (pardon the pun) decision?
Don't forget, it's also after the start of Daylight Savings this year.

Last year it was supposed to start at 11:30am, but was brought forward due to predicted bad weather.

I was going to suggest that it keeps getting brought forward year, after year, because the cars are getting faster - and the race time is getting shorter. They normally try to have it finish just before the start of the 6pm news. Sadly, that theory doesn't really stack up. The winning time in 2020 was 6hrs 10 min, which is only 8 minutes faster than the 1991 race (won by Skaife & Richards in 6hrs 19min).
