Key Off-Season Dates
This is a comprehensive list including dates for draft combines, list lodgements, delisted free agency windows and return to train dates. I had to collate these from three different club websites because the AFL is lazy af and doesn't have it on their website, so thought it might be helpful to share:

FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Dumont is a bit of a ball butcher isn’t he?
Not the best, certainly not the worst in my view. Runs both ways is a positive. Not that I'd look at him though. Just don't think we need his type.

Brander, yes, try him as a Finlayson replacement.

Lienert I've posted about previously.

Boyd Woodcock I might be OK with.

Hartley I'd be OK as a PSSP fill-in for the two LTIs, but he seems to have signed on to Pies' VFL team.

Sam Skinner might be a cheap depth option to give a rookie deal to. He has done 3 ACL’s so comes with big risk but I think he’s just completed an injury free season in SA and was impressive. He would be some good KPD depth.

A bit of a follow up on the Age article but more likely just random guesses

GWS is understood to be one of the clubs considering Brander, among others, after a trade period in which they missed out on Rory Lobb and Luke Breust. The Giants are keen to secure a bargain buy, with a host of names liked to the club. Michael Gibbons, Jay Lockhart and Ben Cavarra are also understood to be options for Leon Cameron’s squad.

Rival clubs believe the Giants would be open to trading Pick 2 and prepared to strike a deal with a team that presents the best offer, but only if it meant the Giants could still secure their preferred prospect. It’s understood the Giants are seeking a key-position player – rather than a midfielder – at their first draft selection, with Dandenong Stingrays star Mac Andrew widely viewed as their top priority. Foxfooty.com.au understands both the Suns and Crows have already made inquiries about trading up to Pick 2.
AFL draft 2021: Finn Callaghan attracts interest from multiple clubs, GWS Giants trade picks, Fremantle, Hawthorn (foxsports.com.au)

Just wait until draft night and see who blinks first and wants to be the draft donkey.
What sort of deal do we think we will get ( from the clubs, not big footy).
If we want future picks( plus desisted player/s), do the following.
I would suggest trading out 13 for a future first.
Trade 2,gws2022r2,r3 for 5, Hawthorn 2022r1.

That'd be a fair trade, but I reckon where Hawthorne sit they are better off taking 5 and keeping their first round next year. 2 for 1 deals suit strong lists bringing in top talent, not developing lists

I just want us to keep 2, take the obvious choice in Callaghan, no need to get tricky with the high picks.
Pick 13, sure, take a guy with high risk, high reward.
I tend to agree. Even if he wanted to leave, we would get a good pick as replacement as long as he plays OK. He appears to be quite different to hopper, green, taranto, which is very important in mine and probably most people's view.

A elite runner who is 189cm with good skills, you can put him anywhere, you can't have too many of that type.

The thing is if you take him and he is a bust he was the projected 2 but if you don’t take him and he’s a star and the guy you traded back for ends up a bum it could look all kinds of ugly. They need to be super careful here, too many good judges love this guy.

Exactly!
It is the safest pick. He looks like hell at least be a good player and could be an excellent player.
In all likelihood there will be others who end up better, but God knows which players.
Taking Andrew with our first pick is madness imo. He could well be a star, but it is an enormous risk. A 70kg ruckman requires so much development to make the field.
High risk, high reward selections have their place, but not at 2.

Pat McKenna
Jono O’Rourke
Matthew Buntine
Paul Ahearn
Aidan Bonar
Jarrod Pickett

These are all guys we ‘reached’ for.

Not a great roll call.

I wonder if we keep 2 and want Finn, if we won't bid on Daicos or Darcy. Finn might prefer to be pick 2 than 4. Also if no father sons where in place, would we really pick Darcy over Finn. We would pick daicos or JFH over Finn, but probably not Darcy.

Like most here the Callaghan pick is a no brainer and it will take a great offer for the club to give it up
Hawks #5 + 22 1st rd
Crows #4 + 22 1st rd
Dockers #6 + #8
Without those 2 top 10 picks I don't see it being attractive enough for the club and if the club sends anything back it should be a 22 2nd rd

If the club is that keen on Andrew package #13 + 22 1st rd to move up on draft night

Leaving Callaghan, Andrew, Fahey and DFA as the ideal draft night imo

With the lack of underage games the last 2 years I can see Callaghan playing close to an entire season of reserves and maybe a debut depending on how the club is travelling

On the flipside Haynes, Taranto and Ash were also reaches to some degree
Taranto wasn't really. He had shot up the draft list late, but he was definitely in consideration for the Lions before the trade though they rathered McCluggage.

Haynes was predicted as a chance to go to the Lions at pick 8 because we were desperate for KPP talent, which is why the Giants took him at 7. The Lions took Longer, a pick that the less said about the better.

I don't recall Ash being a huge reach, but I remember it more being a case of a bunch of guys being rated similarly after Rowell. Even Anderson was similar but everyone assumed GC would take him because of the Rowell link.

I think the move is trade down if they’re not taking Callaghan. Every other club is likely to take Callaghan at 2 so might as well trade back at least a spot to secure someone else. Would be happy with Rachele or Gibcus in a small trade down. Next year is supposed to be filled with KPP so it’s important we have our first round pick then to address our issues if Gibcus isn’t selected or they want to target a forward.
