List Mgmt. 2021 List Management

I don't see why we would make a KPD take the kick outs when our smalls can use the new goal square rule to their advantage.

Plus, OMac went at 70% disposal efficiency on Thursday. I reckon that's pretty good for a bloke many were writing off.

I wrote him off with caveats but was pretty impressed with his game against the Saints. One swallow however does not a summer make and it was a pre-season game.

I still think the only way he contributes to wins for us, is through significant injury trouble. Maybe the club sees that as a good use for the SSP, maybe they don't. As I've spoken about, I'm keen to keep a spot open for the MSD. My take is that if we are regularly playing / need Oscar McDonald our season is most likely over.

The big picture is list management. Injuries aside we are now covered all over the park, EXCEPT with a key back heir/back up for Jones. LJ and Levi both nearing the end. We need a reliable back up for a couple/few years while we develop a replacement likely to be drafted soon. Omar has played plenty of senior footy and is still young. His performance forward clearly sealed the deal, offering back up at both ends which must be the Moore attraction.

Viable player costing nothing bar that list spot. Maher has potential, if he is burning up the track, would have expected the spot to be his. Trialling OM and CM suggests otherwise

Based on saints practice game Id be happy if we offered oscar a list spot. He competes and kicking is good and can pinch hit in the ruck.

I agree with you, however he was useless in the ruck so there’s no point in him pinch-hitting. May as well chuck Cottrell in the ruck if we are prepared to lose the contest

Is it a case of you either can ruck or you can’t? At close to 2m tall and 100 kg I would think he can learn to become effective as a 4th option ruckman if that is what the club needed and he was willing. I’m really only comparing him to Moore as I haven’t seen the other options training with us.

If Eddie is not playing 1s by the mid season draft it would make sense to retire him and use that pick.
Sounds like an awful way to send off a Carlton and AFL great. If we are going to that extent to make a list spot, we are approaching Collingwood 2020 trade season incompetent.

great to see you got your ton, fof...........

No it wouldn't. It would be a terrible way to treat a club great.
Club great who left for money..
Give me an alternative/name, to be a back up tall in defense or forward

actually not sure that’s our deficiencies, would much rather take a mature aged tuck.. we are very thin in the ruck stocks

Not entirely. Not ideal but you don’t always get to finish up as desired, look at 3 votes C.Judd & there’s plenty of others that have gone on a season too many. Kreuzer last season with the L/T injury as another example where the club could have benefited for the future, if there was a mid-season draft.

If form, injury and/or the will to continue on (what if EB’s playing reserves?) then no harm in walking away mid-season. That’s why the retirement clause is part of the rules.

I get that injury puts some out, no issue with that. To just pack him up and move him on for the speculation of an unknown name on a list would be a travesty if * proportions.

If he chooses to retire, no issue. If he is forced out, I'll have a conniption of epic proportions.

If Eddie cant get a game then it would be good if he put the Club first and retired with grace and dignity .

Do we really want to see him playing reserves? Does he really want to be playing reserves?

Never forget the travesty of Gary Ablett senior doing his knee is his last game in the two's.

Not how legends should go out.

He has some time to try to force his way back and he will give it his best shot but IMO it is time for the little man
to hang em up and enjoy retirement, his family and helping the young ones for at least the rest of this year.

Based on the VFL report and footage, Luke Parks could be an undersized KPD. At least more than Marchbank.

I keep forgetting about this guy and was pleasantly surprised by how he plays. Could have found a diamond in the rough there.

In fairness, that was only because he only decided in January to keep playing and was really out of shape. He still kicked 7 in that game before doing his knee.

Bloody hell we should be expecting to play finals, why would we be retiring off blokes half way through the year when they may need to be called up if we have an injury?
if we aren’t in a position that we are still looking to be playing finals half way through the year then Betts and a list spot, where we would probably be choosing the 5th plus best non listed AFL player (very low %) then we have probably got some much bigger problems to be worried about.

This year more than ever due to Covid 2020 would be beneficial to keep at least one free spot on list .

There was no VFL or TAC last year to expose potential players that have matured/improved and be ready to play at highest level.

I would not sign either Moore or McDonald I am afraid. There will be better out there.

Would be looking very closely at early VFL/SANFL/WAFL games looking for the next mature age recruit like a Luke Ryan , Tom Stewart or Jake Riccardi.

They will be out there believe me. We just gotta find em, this is where recruiters earn their keep. (unfortunately we haven't been very good at finding them in the past)

There are more and more players coming through that did not necessarily come through the traditional pathways and were not ready to be
drafted at 18 or 19 and as said, this year much more than ever.

And yes be very good for the Club if a spot say vacated by Betts was taken by a Tom Stewart don't you think?
