Not if he is offered 700K over 5 years, which Richmond will not give him. Norf will have a lot of salary cap space, like we used to.
What's the problem then?
We shouldn't be offering anything like that contract.

I very much doubt there are any players in this draft that can kick like Cerra his 22 disposals have a greater impact than higher disposal getters.King's agenda is Norf and he will be hoping he ends up there.
Cerra: Been in the system for 3 years. Has played 68 games, is 21 y.o of age and ready to have a breakout year.
Alternative: Go to draft, select very promising youngster, waste 5 years on them and then realise they are no good because we failed to develop them.
King will be pushing for Cerra to go to Norf.
If Cerra is available then grab him, because he is as good as top 5 pick, or unless there is someone clearly better than him. Might have to pay overs for him, but quality mids are very hard to find.
McGovern is exactly the player we need but unfortunately it’s looking like his body has let us and him downWe are stuck with Williams for 5 more years and McGovern for 2 more. McGovern has not worked out for us and is not the player we need.7 years in the AFL for 78 games. Getting older makes you more injury prone.

The thought of him delivering to our forwards is very appealing you can build a game plane around effective disposals

While I like Cerra I’m not sure I’d give up our 1st pick this year (top 5). I really like the look of Sonsie this year
Id be okay with future 1st and SPS as an option.
If we move him on via trade, the other club would need to agree to pick up his contract in full or they take on part and we would need to pay the balance (ie like Treloar at WBs)

An average of 5.3 score involvements a game this year. Very slightly more than Newnes (5.1) and Gibbons (5.09).
We have the ball, the opposition has the ball, the ball is in dispute, the umpire is a moron. An average of 5.3 score involvements a game this year. Very slightly more than Newnes (5.1) and Gibbons (5.09).
From a bigger sample size and from a harder position to play, to a no name forward line. The other two are delivering to the Coleman leader.
alluding - this is what I was alluding to..........fmd...........eluding is what carlton players do with reference to the football...........Agree Arrow...
This is what I was eluding to, you have worded it better..![]()
Sorry...alluding - this is what I was alluding to..........fmd...........eluding is what carlton players do with reference to the football...........
Mate I was suggesting it, someone asked about his contract status and what would happen if we wanted to move him on. I was merely explaining it.Well known to be injury prone before we got him on the 5 year deal and big money, certainly set the standard when he showed up to training fat and had to go through Russel's "cage".
Irrespective of injuries, there's about a bajillion instances you could pull up of Mcgovern being extremely lazy or not interested. What you want from your star recruit.
Tough potential decision isn't it, if he was keen to come, I wouldn't at all be surprised if we gave Fremantle pick 5 for him. Cerra coming on board would be all but stamping the papers one of our other potential mids too.
I would say he'd go to Richmond, given their plethora of picks and being who they are, but you never know.
lol no AFL team is going to take on Williams contract, horribly overpriced contract, we knew what we were getting, another expensive recruit on potential, again.![]()
Me neither but that's what would have to happen if we wanted to move him on.Could not see anyone paying him 800K a year. This is really looking like a bad decision from the club.
Devon Roberston would be handy in our side. Overlooked for Philp. Still early days but this is the kind of player that would be a great clubman and hard worker. He will be a 200 game player.
Is it wrong that I'm so down on our development/management of players at the moment that I'm very slow to believe that some of these players would be looking the same under us?
Kemp 17 and Philip 20 in the draft..seems as if we bypassed Robertson For both. our guys may yet ‘surprise‘ and become players and great clubman as well.Devon Roberston would be handy in our side. what I was trying to get at is, we don’t know how it will all turn out. And to only mention Philp when there was 5 spots between the 3 guys, was a little unfair. Robertson has outperformed both ours guys due to them overcoming injury and barely playing.Kemp will be a jet, we got a bargain there, but had others ahead of Philp, but does have a point of difference with his speed
Agreed, i thought we would play walsh mostly wing for a season or 2, as we have inside mids and 'no other wingmen' at this stage, i think thats unbalanced us, setters didnt work, nor gibbons, nor newnes, and doc looks lost atm, havnt noticed if the others like fish sps or martin have spent much time there, but the wings are a definate need, philp might be a good oprion in time but still very youngWing is a major deficiency with us...
I'd like to see Docherty/ Martin/ Plowman & Ramsey, get a run on both wings..
We may start to get some defence and foot skills through our midfield...
Think I got the spelling wrong for this word as well...alluding - this is what I was alluding to..........fmd...........eluding is what carlton players do with reference to the football...........

Anyway I’m not gonna loose any sleep over it though ....
I was expecting thy to respond...lose not loose ..Never admit stuff, make em search.
Discussions around Williams' contract always omit that we were banking cap space that needed to be used in a certain time frame. This isn't money that would have gone to another player.
