No they don’t, they get gifted academy picks like Heeney, Mills, Gulden and Campbell.

They do have a decent size recruiting zone from Gosford all the way up the north coast to the top of NSW over to Walgett, that said they identify these kids as young as 10 and develop them all the way through their academy, gotta say they seem to be doing it sensationally with kids from such a rugby dominated part of the country, particularly when you compare it to the rest of the competition atm...

Agree completely. If they find the kids and invest, they deserve the return. Other clubs have the chance to bid.

Concerned that the style of game currently being played is not the one we have designed our list around.

Speed, gut running and accurate long distance kicks are now essential in attack.

One on one defending ability is now key in defence and the intercept marking player is less important.

Some of our newest recruits are a big tick Saad, Williams and Martin but others seem disadvantaged by this new game style.

McGuane on RSN had some thought provoking views on Cripps waning ability to influence games due to his lack of running power.

2/2 games we are out of gas in the final five minutes of the quarters in comparison to the opposition.

Perhaps I'm being too pessimistic

They spent $10M on their academy. Hardly gifted.

We are spending that sort of money on a glorified administration building that happens to be attached to our training ground. Priorities.

Wonder how close he got down the line to getting a high off his training?
What were our recommendations re: playing where this season, seems strange to go to NAB League vs the opportunity to be at VFL with AFL connections.

I would actually love to know what means we go to to identify talented kids with an overseas born parent.

it wouldn’t surprise me if we wait until one shows up in Nab league playing for knights.

We should be communicating with schools pe teachers, little aths clubs, sneakily with soccer clubs/orgs, basketball etc.

identifying these kids at 10-13 yrs old and investing in them.

I've been saying he will finish top 3 in the Coleman since pre-season training started and I saw how hard he had worked in the off season

Little bit unlucky that two of our last four first rounders are injured and another took last season off. I think TDK would also be playing if not for injury. Dow and LOB are a worry

We’ve been filling holes with more mature recruits (injured list)
Williams, Saad
Betts, Newnes, Martin, Pittonet
Gibbons, McGovern, Newman
+ some more junior trades in Fogarty, Setterfield & Kennedy

Injury list then with top draftees with Kemp, Philp (returning), new guys getting a feel for playing in Durdin, Carroll & Parks, whilst Stocker is in limbo getting back, TDK injured and we evaluate Dow & LOB as AFL players. Honey injured + Cottrell making a fist of it & Ramsay on the quiet side of any promotion as a midfielder.

I agree.. Freo have no Pearce or Hamling. I expect Harry to kick another bag this week (5-6). Freo defenders weren't really tested this week imo..
