Great Post, just letting you know that Seb Ross signed a 2 year contract today. I like Ladhams, imagine the him and TDK rotating through the ruck and the forward Line. Both very athletic and would create havoc as the 3rd Tall. Plus with Ladhams there is a link with him and Voss from PA.Just want to play devils advocate.
With our uncontracted players.
I'll keep Owies and Ramsay
And cut or trade-
Oscar McDonald
Matt Cottrell
Michael Gibbons
Lochie O’Brien
Luke Parks
Sam Petrevski-Seton
And top up with free agent or cheap trades like
Jacob Townsend
Daniel Talia
Trent Dumont
Luke Dunstan
Seb Ross
Mitch Wallis
Lewis Young
Parks and McDonald vs Talia and Young-
For the roll Parks plays i think he's too short and McDonald is just a stop gap. Talia adds leadership and experience. With the growing number of 200cm plus Key forwards, Young at 201cm could be a more than handy pick-up and can backup in the ruck as well.
Cottrell and O'Brien vs Dumont and Dunstan and Ross- there an argument to keep both Cottrell (work ethic) and O'Brien (skills) but both don't get enough of the ball. Cottrell lacks basic skills and O'Brien doesn't work hard enough. Dumont averages nearly 20 possessions, 4 tackles and ok skills. Dunstan and Ross are inside players and we should only bring one of them in if we don't think Dow can stand up next year but Ross would add to our leadership and culture. To be honest I don't think we need any more Wingman- Newnes is a stop gap, I really liked Docherty on the wing before he was injured. Ramsay and Carroll are developing and I think Walsh and Cerra should rotate between wing and inside.
Gibbons and SPS vs Townsend and Wallis- SPS wants a trade. Gibbons is a good VFL midfielder but doesn't have the ability to be an AFL midfielder and he's not a forward. Townsend is a proven Goal kicker and averages nearly 4 tackles per game. Wallis can play forward and as an inside midfielder and would add to our midfield rotations. He also bring in leadership and experience. Our small forwards are all very young and having a leader in the forward line will help with there development.
For me I would delist or trade all 6 except O'Brien unless I could get something really good in return.
I would add Young, Ross and Wallis. Young would free up Weitering to play more of a lever/Aliir role. Ross and Wallis add to our leadership and adds a bit more hardness to our list as well.
I'll like to go after Ladhams but I can't get a feel on what his trade values is worth. A future 2nd for a future 3rd feels right to me.

To be honest wasn't too impressed with Cerra's highlight reel.This.
Highlight reels are useful for an overview of the type of player you're looking at. No good at all for determining if a player is any good. Even Josh Bootsma would have had a decent highlight reel. I fear that all too often in the past our recruiting teams has drafted from highlight reels instead of doing the drudge work and watching full matches. I hope the current team isn't like that - although this year presents a lot of difficulties in that regard.
Stats are great but don’t tell the whole story just like highlight reels.
Think there’s a bit more than 2cm to the reason behind why a bloke has never been drafted as opposed to playing 100 games alreadyCouple of player playing in the SANFL Grand Final Sunday we need to be looking at:
Jack Hayes - 194cm KPP/2nd Ruck. Best player outside of thr AFL IMHO. And if he was 196-198cm would already be a 100 game player.
And the other who has been mentioned regularly is Tyson Stengle. Too good to be playing state league
He is going to be a very solid contributor in the mid-field hard to find players who get the ball 25-30 times with good decision making & excellent player by foot, whilst he is not quite a elite player yet, and he is a consistent performer which is important to build a team around, sure you will have a different view in 12 months time.Stats are great but don’t tell the whole story just like highlight reels.
Slight semantics but Cerra did not play the last round against the Saints so the 4 opponents would have been the Swans, Tigers, Lions and Eagles.
Re: Newnes
Is it out of the question that we pay out his extension if he has hit his games trigger? I would prefer to keep O'Brien on the list and get rid of Newnes.
Doc I think it's a special exemption to be on a medical provision outside the list ..... I'm sure there's a precedent here however I can't remember the player involvedDunno, but now that there is talk of Lewis Young, it is a very pertinent question, because it appears we've either used or contracted all our Senior list spots.
After adding Hewett yesterday, we now have 35. We are still looking to add another 5 (Cerra, Young, and 3 x ND). We won't go to 2022 with more than 36 Senior players (+ 6 category A rookies), so we still need to shift 4 existing Seniors. And if the scuttlebutt is true, we only have 4 uncontracted Seniors: SPS, LOB, Ramsay and Gibbons. On the face of it, they are all gone.
Caveats:
(1) Can we use (and pay for) Newnes' 2022 list-spot twice?
(2) Are we lining up a trade for one (or more!?) of our contracted players? (I'm not sure there are any credible whispers, but I am thinking of Dow.)
So just like how you though we should have cut and paid out Charlie?Reckon that Marchbank, McGov, and a few others are wobbly, either traded or let go.
We'll definitely chase a mature ruckman before end trading, soon as Cerra is done, , which should fairly quickly, can't see the SPS out nor Young trade in , being difficult.

Agreed. We just need to temper expectations as it will take time for him to develop into the player some posters expect Cerra to be next year.Highlights don't show players working off the ball, how they create options and space, by selfless leads, nor do they show simple link possessions that result in scoring chains
Cerra isn't an xfactor player like a Dusty, he just adds to the while
I would be surprised if he is on the main list next year.Doc I think it's a special exemption to be on a medical provision outside the list ..... I'm sure there's a precedent here however I can't remember the player involved
Woodville smashed Glenelg by 10 goals in their GF.
Goal kickers - noting Stengle kicked three in each of the 3 finals.

Charlie has a critical season ahead of him, he’s not the only player on our list, it would be great for he, supporters & club if he regains some of the special form we expect, and with maturity hopefully a little more consistently. Interesting season ahead. So just like how you though we should have cut and paid out Charlie?
Yup herd it all before, but agree with you , for very little and not a high draft pick, he’s definitely with in with a shot. Talents like Stengel are not common.Don't think anyone is questioning his talent, more his commitment levels which are different from SANFL/WAFL to AFL
