List Mgmt. 2021 List Management

McGoven hasn’t worked out, so far ! but it’s mainly cause he hasn’t been able to stay on the park with any kind of continuity, when he has got some continuity, he starts to build form and then bang, some freak injury hits.
MM is a very unique player, has some freakish traits, think I saw he clocked the 2nd highest max speed of any player in the league this year, which is staggering given he’s body type, he’s kicking is very good, he’s dual sided and is one of the best kicks we have.
If we could get Harry Charlie and MM on the park together, we just might have enough fire power to play this run gun brand of football.

I don't track U18s and would have no value to add even if we did.

2021 has however taught me that a second forward is crucial and we don't have one. THey've all fallen away given injury and fitness. This means we are constantly going to big packs (not just a 2021 issue) but our forward structure is breaking down. Add to that these defensive issues and we're a weak team.

I have faith that most of the list is ok or better and we dont need massive change, but we need forwards. Playing Pitto as a forward is just not an option

That was probably when he blitzed his hamstring...

Agreed, to have those 3 forwards actually playing together would add another dimension & improvement to us, could we even have a high functioning forward line if the stars align.

Yeah it’s kind of a snow ball situation,
With those 3 fit firing and playing together, then you add Martin and potentially Owies Betts TDK and Cripps at times into they mix, that’s a serious forward line, that could do damage, can’t wait till these bloody stars line up Lol.

Why would we delist Newman??

He's only played 4 games after returning from a serious knee injury, and already averages 19 touches (at 76% efficiency), 5 rebound 50s, 4 tackles, 2 intercept marks, 7 intercept possessions, and over 300m gained per game.

I think he's vital to our team and structurally allows Doc/Saad to play up on a wing, or Stocker in the midfield too (when Plow comes back in).

In regards to the rest of your list, Cripps isn't going to be traded, and I would be holding off trading SPS/LOB if we can.

Weitering, Walsh and Harry are vital.

No so sure Newman fits into that category.

Personally some time this year I’d like to see a back 6+1 of Weitering, Jones, Kemp, Plow, Doc, Williams and Saad.

McDonald, Parks, Williamson, Newman, Boyd depth.

Stocker mid, Walsh split time on the wing, get Fish on a wing part time, hopefully O’Brien can come on, plus fwd-wing(/mid) rotations from Martin, Fogarty and SPS.

There's no right or wrong line up, but I personally think Newman is too good as VFL depth. Plus, if we'd play him in the back 7 it frees up Doc or Saad up onto a wing. I guess we all have different opinions.

Yup especially in the top 7 or 8 there’s several high quality goal kicking midfielders, Jason Horne 1st pick will be a great midfielder, Roberts , Johnson, Rachele, Daicos, Sonie, Sinn, list goes on , plenty of classy, midfielder potential. The only upside to our misery is, we should be able to snare a future gun.
Personally, I would love for Daicos to slide to our pick... and we grab him... just for the Collingwood malts as the son of their favourite sun runs out for his childhood club... and the club that his dad apparently secretly barracks for :D

But on a more serious note. Josh reckons that Nick is the better of the two and will be ready to play from round 1 next year. Looking at the photos of Nick training with Josh, he already has a good size on him and he's been working out hard in the gym to be ready for next year. If I was the list manager, I would be honestly looking at trading our first and second this year along with our second next year to move up in the top 10 to try and grab him.

That being said, if Freo come in for SPS, I wouldn't say no to either their first round pick or some wheeling and dealing that sees Cerra heading back our way or a 3 way deal to see at least 1 first round pick head our way if Cerra wants to go elsewhere.

They wanted different destinations originally because they had the issue of both being slotted for the same positions, and therefore competing with each other.

I can tell you that it's not that way now, at least from Ben's perspective. There's a lot of arguments against any trade occurring, but not playing with each other is no longer one of them.
I'm sorry... what! Ben was originally a defender when they were both playing high school football and local u17s football. Then Harry went up to TAC cup level, and their local club swung Ben forward in the hope of making him a forward. He does actually make a pretty reasonable forward, but he is at heart a defender and that's what your mob drafted him as.

Now... If Harry goes on to win the coleman medal... do you honestly think that Carlton are going to let Harry go for a second round pick this year, and a top 5 pick next year? The club would be cutting their own throats doing that deal and we would possibly want pick 1 this year and your second and third from next year for him. Preferably, they would want two first round picks for him over the two years if he wanted to leave. It'll be up to you guys to satisfy our demands.

This has always worried me as a possibility.. and if i am list manager at North I would be doing exactly as Carey suggest throwing everything.. They can build a side and a culture on the back of the McKay's at each end of the ground.. would be a huge marketing boost and something to sell the members..

If it were to play out, North have the 1st pick in the PSD which no doubt cheapens his trade value.. and North will be reluctant to give up pick 1, and might have to accept a future 1st and some loose change.
Spend $6mil on a Ruckman over 5 years and I would say you are taking a huge risk as Collingwood have found out. Don't believe there is one ruckman worth 1 mill per season.

Spend $6mil on a key forward and nobody blinks. North have a pretty good forward line structure as it is. Their problem is that they cannot get the ball into their forward line on a regular basis. Key forwards also get battered & injured as we have discovered with Charlie. Karma is strange when it comes to footy teams who buy a huge recruit. Hasn't worked at Collingwood, has not worked for us and who was that midfielder Essendon stole from us??? He is injured now, but even when he was playing he seems to have dropped down their important mids list. If he leaves, then he leaves and we move on. Still believe DEK would make a brilliant CHF and he shown he can take a grab...

Agree with you about trading to better our top ten position , but let’s not dream, Nick Dacios will be a Pie and what a superb footballer , an elite.
As for our top pick , Apart from Horne whom will be a kangaroo, I’d want either Roberts or Rachele both very talent.
Cerra is a priority too, but only if the youngster clearly wants to be a Bagger, and if we are able to mange his asking price.

Seems like the media are almost encouraging, barracking and cheering for us to lose Harry amongst others.
Their deep bias vitriolic hatred towards us has no barriers.
I’d rather move Cripps than Harry, Patrick would at least facilitate the Cerra trade one would think, should Cripps have to
move for family and personal reasons.
Elite & strong 2 M + footballers like Harry whom can turn a game in 20 minutes are rare as hens teeth.

Wonder if you'd mind explaining the history of this "media hatred" of us you speak of. I know it doesn't exist, just interested in what your reasoning is?

been seeing that port are going after a midfielder at seasons end and if they end up getting there man does anyone think it may be a good idea for us to target Dan Houston from them?
Would be getting less opportunity there and could be a money ball pick up for us. Will have a season left on his contract at the end of the year. From victoria and is only 24. He’s disciplined and pretty seasoned already. May be a great pick up.

I can dream if I want to… I want to see a Daicos wearing the colour they really love!

Explain Slobbo, Caro, and Hutchie. And then there is Whateley and a few others out there.

show me this negative agenda please? couple of things, I'm presuming you have been expecting the media to somehow speak positively about our 4 wins this season? and you call the media problematic - also, my original question which you so conveniently side-stepped was someone possibly explaining why there was this alleged discrimination against the worst performing club in the past 20 years - as in, when was it established, why, what is in it for the media and did you realize that every other club board says the same thing you are? that not a little destabilizing of your ridiculous conspiracy theories and paranoia?

It must be awesome to live in your perfect little world where bluebirds and butterflies come down to rest upon your shoulders and you right all the worlds wrongs with simple explanations.

I remember when you used to be happy to discuss football endlessly instead of trying to end everyone with sarcasm and bullshit. It’s a shame because I actually used to like that thy… you know... The guy that someone walked through a bushfire to find out if you were ok, with the rest of us hanging around with baited breath for news… even me, living in the UK was waiting for news you were ok.

Rather than give me your plaintiff cries from the dungeon, just back up your statement and answer the questions regarding this myth of media bias against Carlton. I'm desperate to hear it.

Don't underestimate the power of cultural osmosis. Certain Carlton identities from the past (one at least, who shall remain nameless) were like the sporting equivalents of 'Orange Man bad'. That animosity just resurfaces from time to time, with added vigor, every time something bad happens to the club. We deserve at least some bad press but it should have a different tone than it does.
