You've got plenty of options to look at, either in trade or a later round draft pick.

The Cats delisted Maddie Boyd. Plays the swingwoman role and could easily slot into CHF.

Reports in the media that Richmond's Sabrina Frederick is looking for a new home. If you could get her for a late round pick, worth the gamble.

In the VFLW there's a tall forward from Collingwood in Imogen Barnett. Currently tied as the league leading goalkicker.

Naturally, many will argue not the same 'quality' as Tayla, but there's options to work with should Tayla walk out the door.

For a goal every second game and not in the top 15 at the B&F.

We don't need her in the forward line. Women's football KPF are overrated at present. Can do just as much scoreboard damage with our smaller forward line set up, use our speed.

Agree about the ambassador role and top up. AFL won't do that for Carlton though but might for one of the sides that need a player and profile boost. Do not begrudge her for asking.

Need AFL to build game on the Gold Coast. They can give her the big $’s for ambassadorial duties, we trade her to the Suns and get pick 1 in return. Surely the back room brokers of the league and the two clubs can broker this?

Would be amazing but unfortunately the first five picks of the draft are locked in and unable to be traded - a condition of those clubs receiving concessions.

So the earliest selection they could give us for her would be pick 6 (pick 4 in Vic).

$150k for an ambassador for your club as opposed to her actual playing ability is the question.

If her wage was going to be included in the cap, it was an incredibly selfish request from her. Not up to us to be paying her an "ambassador" salary is it?

Maybe if the league was going to be subsidising...otherwise, not the type of person you want in the club I would have thought.

Cain Liddle on ABC Grandstand before the game on Saturday mentioned she was employed by the club as part of her salary (like a few other players have ion the past, vescio as a graphic designer etc), but let go with all the other staff last year in the layoffs, so the big chunk of her pay packet was wiped out due to covid last year.

Taylor Harris's manager responds to Harford's comments the other day and denies reports she is after $150k.
There's some misdirection there by the manager, bringing up Petracca's contract, and also highlighting Harris's impact on the game. While also downplaying her poor form as a blip.

The manager's comments make it sound like she expects to get paid for her profile as much as / rather than her output.
While she has done a lot for the code, I don't think we can justify the $ based on that. Save the $ for signing up Maddie for life!

She has done more for AFLW profile and women in Australian contact sport than any other player. Justifiably she is looking to maximise her earning power whilst still young enough to earn it as a playing/performing athlete. I don't know anything about her personality or character and no doubt her last season was not as good as anyone would have liked- but the salary cap negotiations have highlighted to me how the AFL treats / thinks of the women's game differently to its male game.

All this should have been settled by the AFL recognizing her input into the game and using its 'ambassador' system to keep her happy and playing and representing the game behind closed doors and an announcement of some sort could have been positive.

I don't know of any team that would have the salary cap to pay a marquee player their worth - but the AFL seems to favour franchise teams it controls and owns entirely - over traditional teams in the men's game - perhaps ambassador type sponsorship is only used to protect AFL franchise teams.

So why doesn't the AFL give her ambassador payments ala Coniglio?
