For those questioning the legitimacy of our numbers compared to other clubs, Geelong's current promo is "buy 1 GA membership & get 1 free".

I figure that most, if not all clubs, have similar promotions designed to convert the passive supporter into an active member. I just want to know if there are specific criteria that the AFL use across the competition when counting these numbers. For example, if one of our wealthy benefactors was to buy 5000 memberships does that get counted or does a member need an actual name, address etc.

I’m not trying to trash our membership growth. Year on year it’s great. I just want to know what the rules are.
