If you go, go to the Texans Joe and save DeShaun, I like you too much to see you coaching for one of those other disgusting organisations

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Chargers have requested to interview Giants OC Jason Garrett for their head-coaching vacancy.
Why? Going from Anthony Lynn to Garrett would be a lateral move at best and likely a step backward. Garrett went 85-67 in 9.5 years as the Cowboys' head coach before getting fired after last season, making the playoffs three times, but his offenses vastly underwhelmed, and he was accused of being way too conservative. "The Clapper" had to give up play-calling duties to Kellen Moore in Dallas and is merely a rah-rah guy who has no personality. He quickly resurfaced as the Giants' OC this season, and Daniel Jones went on to take several steps backward as a sophomore. The Giants were 24th in offensive DVOA, checking in at 28th in passing. Garrett would be a last-resort Plan Z type of hire as the next man to handle Justin Herbert's career.

Is there some sort a Rooney Rule for redheads that I'm not aware of?

The Texans interviewed Steelers VP of football and business administration Omar Khan for their general-manager vacancy.
Khan, 43, has been in the Steelers' front office since 2001. He's been in his current role since 2016 and has been a coveted GM candidate for years but has remained in Pittsburgh looking for the right opportunity. Perhaps Khan has been waiting for current Steelers GM Kevin Colbert to retire in hopes of landing that gig. The Texans have also remained linked to Patriots exec Nick Caserio in their search for a new organizational leader.

The Falcons interviewed 49ers DC Robert Saleh for their head-coaching vacancy.
The Jaguars and Lions are also showing interest in 41-year-old Saleh. Even with his defense ravaged by injuries and the loss of DT DeForest Buckner via trade before the season, the Niners still finished fifth overall in team defense DVOA. Saleh brings a ton of energy to the table and might finally land a head-coaching gig after the 49ers made it to the Super Bowl last season.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Chargers have requested to interview Bills OC Brian Daboll for their head-coaching vacancy.
The Chargers have requested interviews with Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, Colts DC Matt Eberflus, Rams DC Brandon Staley, Giants OC Jason Garrett, and Panthers OC Joe Brady over the last 12 hours. They're casting a very wide net in their search to replace Anthony Lynn. Daboll, 45, is part of the Belichick tree but has made a name for himself with his outstanding work with Josh Allen over the last three years, turning him into a legitimate MVP candidate this season. The Bills threw the ball at the highest rate on first down in 2020 and featured plenty of three- and four-wide sets. Daboll would be an exciting hire for Justin Herbert, but we selfishly would like to keep him with Allen in Buffalo.

Panthers requested an interview with Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly.
Kelly landed an interview in 2019 for the Jets' general manager position. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the Broncos could also ask Kelly for an interview to fill their newly open GM spot. Kelly served as Denver's assistant director of pro personnel from 2011-2014. He was the Bears' director of pro scouting before becoming the team's director of player personnel, overseeing player evaluations, advanced scouting, free agency, and talent evaluation. He also assists the team's college scouting staff with player evaluations and trades for the NFL draft.

Jaguars will interview Raheem Morris for their open head coaching position.
Morris is expected to interview for Atlanta's open head coaching spot on Friday. He's considered a long shot to get the job after taking over as interim head coach in October. Morris, who went 4-6 as interim head coach this season, went 21-37 in two seasons as head coach of the Bucs. The Jaguars have been linked to Urban Meyer in recent days, but it looks like the team will consider other candidates in the meantime.

Jaguars will interview former Browns general manager Ray Farmer for the team's open GM position.
Farmer's track record leaves something to be desired. He used two first-round picks in each of his two seasons (2014-2016) as Browns general manager to select CB Justin Gilbert, QB Johnny Manziel, NT Danny Shelton, and OL Cam Erving. Jacksonville fans better hope Farmer is a long shot to land the team's GM job.

See, they finally realize what a gun Heinicke is. I'm about to be changing my vote....

Washington head coach Ron Rivera said he could rotate Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke against the Bucs on Sunday.
Smith, returning from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for two weeks, had limited mobility last week against the Eagles. It was clear he hadn't fully recovered from the calf issue. Rivera said the Football Team "definitely" had to consider rotating Smith with Heinicke, who relieved Dwayne Haskins in Week 16 and completed 12-of-19 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers. The potential QB rotation makes Smith unplayable in Wild Card DFS contests.

The Broncos have requested permission to interview Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly for their GM opening.
It's a natural fit, as Kelly spent eight years in the Broncos' front office before heading to Chicago and working alongside current Broncos coach Vic Fangio for four seasons. Kelly will also interview for the Panthers' opening. Kelly interviewed with the Jets in 2019.

Jaguars will interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for the team's head coaching position.
Bieniemy could set a record for interview requests this month. The Jaguars have been linked to Urban Meyer over the past few days, raising questions about how serious they are in interviewing other head coaching candidates. Bieniemy, pursued by the Lions, Jets, and Falcons, could have his pick of head coaching jobs in the coming weeks. With the No. 1 pick and $100 million in cap space, the Jaguars are among the most attractive landing spots for a new head coach.

The Texans have interviewed Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio for their general manager vacancy.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Texans' pursuit "has real promise." It's the Texans' second run at Bill Belichick's right-hand personnel man after Bill O'Brien's 2019 chase went down in tampering flames. Caserio must still be tight with ex-Patriots life coach Jack Easterby, who is for some reason currently running the Texans' front office. There were 2019 reports that Caserio "wanted out" of New England. The Pats have certainly had a rough go of it of late in the draft, though the New England buck stops with Belichick.

The Texans interviewed Seahawks VP of player personnel Trent Kirchner for their general manager opening.
Something of an annual candidate for top jobs elsewhere, Kirchner has never flown the Seahawks' front office coop. It is unclear how serious the Texans' interest might be. Kirchner is GM John Schneider's right-hand personnel man. Schneider's star has dimmed a bit in recent years.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Giants signed DC Patrick Graham to a contract extension.
Graham was a sleeper candidate for some NFL head coaching gigs, but the Giants instead will give him a pay bump to keep him on staff for the 2021 season. New York's defense played above expectations last year despite little edge rushing talent. It's a credit to Graham that the Giants won six games given the state of their offense.

Ex-Giants GM Jerry Reese interviewed for the Panthers' general manager opening.
The Panthers announced six interviews to replace Marty Hurney on Tuesday. Joining Reese were Browns exec Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, Patriots exec Nick Caserio, Bills exec Joe Schoen, the Titans' Monti Ossenfort and New Orleans' Jeff Ireland. Ireland joins Reese in having general manager experience. Fired by the Giants in Dec. 2017, Reese has remained on the interview circuit but has yet to land a second chance. He had some high highs and low lows in New York.

The Falcons interviewed Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their general manager vacancy.
The Falcons are casting a wide net in their search to replace longtime GM Thomas Dimitroff. In his fifth year with the Colts, Brown has now been in NFL front offices for two decades. The Colts have been one of the league's better drafting franchises over the past half decade.

For the blurb at the end...

Texans hired Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio as their general manager.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Texans' hiring firm suggested five general manager candidates to ownership and that Caserio was not included. This hiring confirms how much power 2019 interim general manager Jack Easterby has within the organization, as Easterby and Caserio worked together in New England and remain close friends. Caserio has his hands full with the Texans' current cap space and lack of draft picks, but what he does have is a future MVP candidate in Deshaun Watson. Protecting Watson should be Caserio's first order of business. It will be interesting to see who wins the power battle between Easterby and Caserio over the next couple of seasons.
