I think it’s smart by Nagy even though he knows Dalton is not the answer…keeps the pressure off Fields for now.
He's playing the long(er) game. Fields is his ticket to a longer stay, best to roll out AD - see how he goes. If he's playoffs bound - fabulous. If he/the team are struggling - insert the new guy (buys more time).

Playing him early puts his own personal goals at risk.

Since when did Nagy earn the right to take his sweet ass time with things? This is the same bloke who told Pace to trade for Foles and his horrendous contract last season coz he knew his system and he couldn't develop Trubisky.

Guaranteed Nagy puts Fields in as soon as possible coz he won't get the wins needed to keep his job with Dalton.

If Bears are going to sit Fields and start Dalton until after their bye then start him it will be week 11 before we see fields. So he will get 6 games to show his wears. Season likely over by then.
It's like everyone in management and coaching wants to be fired from the bears start the rookie and that way if team struggles can say its just rookie teething pains and you all keep your jobs for another season. Duh

I am the Believe you either start your Rookie QB from the start or let him sit the whole year like what KC did for Mahomes.

Nagy by simply making that statement now has already eased pressure on Fields. May even start week 1 still. But what if he comes out and says he’s our No 1 now and they find he’s not quite ready? It’s not written in concrete

It's Dalton thou he hasn't been good for years.
Could also go the other way by naming Dalton as starter fields could lose some confidence

Eagles traded CB Jameson Houston and a 2023 sixth-round pick to the Jaguars for CB Josiah Scott.
The Eagles part with Houston for Scott, 22, a fourth rounder out of Michigan State who played in six games for Jacksonville last year. A Dave Caldwell holdover, Scott profiles as a nickel corner. Houston, meanwhile, played in three games (17 total snaps) for the Eagles in 2020.

"The 2000 Titans arguably had a better defense than the 2000 Ravens. They beat them in YPGA, and only losing in scoring D by 1.5 PPG. The Ravens had better run D, but the Titans had a better pass D.

The advanced metrics at Football Outsiders does rank the 2000 Titans D as better than the 2000 Ravens, mainly because advanced stats consider fumble recoveries as mostly luck. The ravens had an incredible amount of luck when it came to fumble recoveries that year."

I’m always surprised how many people believe Ray Lewis murdered 2 dudes. The case itself is extremely clear that he didn’t murder anyone, he totally knew more of what happened and obstructed the case by tampering but didn’t murder anyone

His crew got in a fight, 2 people died, and the cops were after them. He did a really stupid thing by obstructing, but that's the extent of his involvement.

In the eyes of the state, no one was murdered that night. The killers were acquitted by reason of self-defense.
