Tbh watching both today the atmosphere really doesn't get captured in the Manning feed. It's not ever going to be big for casual fans unless it gets a lot of work. It's good for what it is.
Exactly. Standard broadcast is actual game atmosphere, game noise, discussion of every play, and guys like Riddick and Griese are great with xs and os. Saying all the same and more things than the mannings did.

The mannings event is just them s**t talking with a game going on in the background that theyre not focused on or caring about really. Theres no game noise, interviews with players and coaches or injury updates, relevant stata, etc. Just a 2-3 guys talking over the top of each other about stuff

How long are we giving it til ESPN does away with the main broadcast and goes with Manningcast? I think I'm only giving it 2-3 more weeks.
Manningcast is great for football junkies like us (I assume everyone that posts semi-regularly here is one given the extra effort it takes to post about a niche sport on a forum), but it'd be too technical for most of the audience. When you have people that spend a significant amount of time on the NFL saying stuff like this:

Or Bill Simmons saying in his post-Week 1 podcast that he didn't know what they were talking about when they were throwing around terms like Cover-0, you know its very technical.

For the casual and average fans, the traditional broadcast works much better - the basics of what is happening on the field are stated, you get a better sense of the atmosphere, you learn about the personalities of the players etc, plus the broadcast itself is much more polished.

IMO if the Manningcast became the primary broadcast, it'd almost certainly lose what makes it good

Never. As others have said. Manningcast isn't for casual viewing and most of it goes over thr head of people who don't understand all the football terminology. If you don't understand coverages, schemes or play names you get lost. Alos they don't call it like a traditional game it's basically film room with guests. And no atmosphere since the live game audio doesn't come in.

But also every network has tried to get Peyton in the booth with stupid money and he has always said no. Doing this with Eli and only doing 10 weeks a year is the most he wanted to do.

Ratings will also be higher for the normal broadcast. Week 1 got almost 7.8million on ESPN, the Manningcast got 800k. The week 1 game was also on ABC which got another 14million

NFL to host combine in London to scout international talent, create global exposure of American football

12:49 AM AEST
Associated Press

LONDON -- The NFL will stage an international combine for 50 athletes from 14 countries next month in London.

The invitational scouting showcase is mirrored after the annual NFL combine usually held in Indianapolis. The idea is to find international athletes who have the skill sets and potential to play in the league. It will take place Oct. 12 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Invited are athletes from Britain, Germany, Belgium, New Zealand, France, Nigeria, Austria, Slovakia, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Finland, Sweden and Hungary.

"Through the event, we hope to discover new talent, create more global exposure of the game and provide an opportunity for participants to compete at the highest level," said Damani Leech, NFL chief operating officer of international.
Athletes will be evaluated for a potential position in the NFL's International Player Pathway program from which such players as Buffalo DE Efe Obada, New England fullback Jakob Johnson and Washington tight end Sammis Reyes emerged.

Following the international combine, a select number of athletes who meet specific performance standards and display the potential to play in the NFL will be invited to train in the United States for three months as part of the pathway program. That group will be reduced again following the training phase, with some allocated to NFL teams for the 2022 season.

Previously, the league hosted such events in Australia in 2018 and in Germany in 2019. The NFL will also conduct a combine in Mexico later in October for athletes unable to travel to London because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
