There's a guy at work who is a 36ers diehard and going from some of the stuff he's been saying I think they're going through similar issues as we did a few years ago with a whole string of poor decisions and a disconnect between the higher ups at the club and the fans.

I know the stuff that happened with Mitch Creek really put management off-side with the fans and it's apparently gone from bad to worse.
The one dude I know who is a 36ers fan told me he's not going back to games until they overhaul the current management. He was complaining about the manager before the thing with Creek too.

Triggy still providing strategic direction?

I've heard they've recategorised a heap of their members seats into a higher tier (and the associated rise in price), which has put a fair chunk of their membership base offside.

That and the club has been a basketcase the past couple of seasons has probably seen the membership base dwindle.

There does seem to be an air of desperation in selling memberships though - I signed up for their 'Sixth Man' membership (their version of our We Fly As One membership), and you might get club news a couple of times a month, but you get e-mails trying to sell reserved seat memberships on a near-daily basis.

I’d been a member with a mate since 1992 and when they transferred to the Entertainment Centre we were given seats that weren’t even comparable to our seats at the Dome and yet they had jacked up the price. We made our feelings known and basically they couldn’t careless.

We haven’t since renewed and reckon the same story could be said for others. They treated the membership disgracefully on the transfer over to the Entertainment Centre.

No one told you life was gonna be this way?
Its interesting that the humour of this episode was based on Ross using his privilege as a professor at the university to hit on and pick up one of his students. Which in today's world would open a massive can of worms.

Mind you It made me remember fondly of the time, I dated my lecturer. :$

There's a few things about Friend's that hasn't aged well

Chandler's transgender dad and the Ross' ex-wife becoming a lesbian being just jokes in of themselves kinda sticks out as awkward 25 years later

Lots of those 90's sitcoms have aged really poorly in some way or another. Friends really punches down when it comes to anything regarding homosexuals.

Recently binged the entire series of Seinfeld, still very enjoyable and some classic episodes.

It has aged very well.

To be fair to Ross, she initiated the whole thing.

Watch an episode where Chandler talks about his Dad. It's pretty rough.

Self realisation isn’t a strength of HS. He argues for the sake of it and then accuses the people he’s arguing with of being argumentative.

Yeah, and if we had played the way we did against Melbourne and Geelong all season, we would be the 2021 Premiers. They still drink their own bath water, even after seasons end.

Membership sales must be a bit slow down the road, expect a lot of media appearances over the coming weeks talking up their 2022 chances.
First year we thought twice about getting our 4 tickets

Who gives a sh*t. They're both gone.
Exactly -
When does the Search for the new whipping boy start?

The shows are fine, we haven’t aged well

That is so true

Seinfeld is a snapshot of an era that will never ever exist again sadly.

Before social media, before mobile phones (though I vaguely remember references and usage in one or two episodes) before fake beauty, before political correctness.

Plenty of politically incorrect comedy is still made. Ever heard of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"? How about "Curb Your Enthusiasm" which is essentially a spiritual successor to Seinfeld?

All the characters being terrible people helps.

Like when Jerry drugs a woman to play with her toy collection, it's basically criminal behaviour but it is the kind of thing a selfish, borderline sociopath like Jerry would do. It's not as jarring for the viewer because they've already set the bar so low.

(They probably wouldn't do that joke these days though because it'd be associated with date rape.)

Political correctness certainly existed in the 90s — Seinfeld very cleverly navigated and parodied the climate at the time (“Not that there’s anything wrong with it!”)

The difference between then and now is that now you’re not even allowed to parody it.

How about "Curb Your Enthusiasm" which is essentially a spiritual successor to Seinfeld?

Larry kind of gets away with it still, but only when it’s a self parody.

And he really is one of a kind. Universally liked.
