Typical. Showed on the Today Show before ScoMo and Gladys walking through a vaccination centre in Sydney ready for the vaccine rollout that begins on Monday. Everyone was wearing a mask - except ScoMo and Gladys. Covidiots!

Moomba might still go ahead after all...

This is why I kinda raised eyebrows at the cancellation news last night
I'm
- parade & birdman rally already cancelled as they didn't believe they could easily be done in a covid safe manner
- the Lord Mayor & City of Melbourne were already working with the Health Department to ensure the festival component could be done in a covid safe manner, which included marked areas, ticketed sessions etc

With last night's announcement I was wondering if that hadn't necessarily been as well received as they had been hoping, maybe becoming more difficult than they had been thinking it would be and that this was the easiest option

Reading comments across various social media platforms, some are jump on the blame Andrews bandwagon very quickly, but I gotta say that with the number of events & activities going on around Vic I don't see this wide spread notion of him banning anything fun but rather can see those who have put the work in to run covid safe events versus those who have decided that the easier option may be to postpone things for now

The cricket went ahead over summer, horse racing has continued, AFLW has got their season up & running with fans in attendance other than this past weekend, while the NBL is going into what they've deemed the NBL Cup which is 18 double header matches across the next 3 weeks in Melbourne (John Cain Arena and the State Basketball Centre)

I know regional places have had events planned also

So rather than jumping on Andrews if the organisers cancel an event, I'm more curious to know the reasons behind the cancelation such as can the event be run in what's deemed a covid safe manner or does it just get put into the too hard basket

Why politicians shouldn't use an emoji without knowing what it actually means

🥲 Smiling Face with Tear
Emoji Meaning
A face smiling, with a single tear shown. May be used to indicate that one is touched, relieved, or grateful.

I've never been. But what is Moomba without the parade and bird Man rally?
What do you do there?
