Sorry if I'm interrupting anyones conversation, but just want to vent for a minute

Job hunting sucks and I had forgotten how much it can play with your emotions at times

This morning I was feeling good - had a pretty good nights sleep, got up and decided to give my new Ring Fit Adventure a go (something I had been looking at & last week I caught up with a friend who said buy it), and then it was getting through various tasks on the to-do list including reading through random emails

One such email was an update from Seek for a job I applied for last week - it was for a call centre administrator at Geelong Taxis, and while not the most exciting sounding job it was one I thought ticked the boxes for

This is part of the email:
You're application is unlikely to progress any further

Application feedback
61
candidates matched the employer’s preference question for this job.
✅ Your answers matched the employer’s preferences.

At the time it was like "yep, getting used to these emails", but as the afternoon went on, I just started to feel more flat - like obviously employers can't interview everyone who matches the employers preferences, but matching the preferences, having the required skills & experience and not even getting an interview starts to get frustrating

And it then makes me more frustrated at not getting a temp job I did a couple of interviews for last month as the company made a last minute change to their recruitment strategy for the role.

Then a comment from my aunt is still playing on loop in the back of my mind - she's great at the backhand compliment. So when talking to her a couple of weeks back (before we went into that 5 day lockdown), the conversation turns to my job hunting and she comes with the following couple of lines:
- not to be mean, but you are getting old now so it's going to be hard to find something
- last year your cousin got a job working in a local pub. But he's a such people person

Btw, I love my cousin and glad to hear he's found work especially as he's living in Melbourne, but that last line was delivered in such a manner as to say I'm not a people person. 5 minute phone conversations with my aunt are more than long enough

In the past when I've got into this sort of funk I've booked a holiday and gone away for a few days - not exactly the easiest thing to do at the moment

Sorry, just been a flat afternoon - hopefully will get a good nights sleep and can reset tomorrow and then find motivation to tackle the next set of tasks on the to do list

Not that you need my (or anyone elses permission) but rant away mate.

Hope u are ok

Is anyone surprised they're behind schedule with the vaccine roll out already? They were meant to vaccinate residents in 240 aged care homes in NSW and Queensland by the end of the week. They've currently only done about 29.

Have to feel for the residents in a Bendigo nursing home too. They were all ready and keen to get vaccinated yesterday, but it was cancelled at the last minute as they were "double booked". How do you double book vaccinations?

Cheers mate

I'm feeling better today - actually slept better than I thought I would, so woke up with something of a clearer head and ready to tackle the challenges of today

I completed the video interview for a job at BP - completely stunk on a question or 2, which is kinda worse because they give you 3 attempts at it, but can only do my best and see what happens from here

Good luck. :)

Gender reveals are so bloody stupid regardless.
No argument from me on that

Getting a bakery to make a pink or blue cake is one thing, and at least you can eat the cake - but with people seemingly more interested in one upping what others have done, it's dangerous, stupid and unnecessary

Got a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling at work today. Had a lovely 87 year old lady transferred through to me this morning who had been fleeced by an extremely dodgy financial advisor who cleared out not only her bank account but 60 other people's accounts as well, which resulted in her not being able to afford her gas bills. Not only that, but her bills were estimated, and since the account was closed we had no way of getting the reads verified. I spoke with my senior who agreed we could just waive the bill. The customer couldn't stay on the phone as she had to go to a doctor's appointment.

I called her back in the afternoon and when I told her we had waived the bill and she didn't need to pay anything, she burst into tears and said it was the first good thing that had happened to her in 6 months.

This Government just don't get it, do they?

The government should shut its mouth, as should the opposition until there is a verdict.
These cases are he said she said usually but making a point of it makes the government appear deflectionary and tone deaf.

IF... If it ends up not guilty then the opposition point scoring will backfire. Everyone should just shut up and let justice take its course.
Political point score after the fact.

Would be traumatising enough for the women involved without having it played out in the political and media landscape each day.

Don't think it was the same person, as according to the lady I was speaking to, they had arrested the person who stole her money.
