I understand one book has been removed because of a picture showing two natives in grass skirts.

It was written in 1934!

Were grass skirts never worn? It was probably a fact of life for some tribes back then, and presented as such, not as a characterisation.

I'm not sure I know what this even means, but then again, the bloody world has gone mad.

Now we're offended by Dr Seuss books from 1934. Sheesh.

Society has become such a delicate, precious little flower.

I think people need to stop confusing racism with just acknowledging different races and cultures are you know....different from each other.

Must happen frequently as when I was in school, we all knew of a girl in our year who was seeing the sports teacher. We heard all the rumors and sure enough, some 10 years later I found out they were later married. It takes a very strange mind to reach out to a young student to begin with.

I think this is why it is a very different world for younger people, or those born in the 80's and so forth. Police and background checks are extensive and constant. If you have committed a serious crime such as sex offending, assault or other, it's documented. Those who did so decades before could skip town and start out a new life and only have to deal with the same accusations we are seeing with the cabinet minister right now.

Same thing happened with my cousin. She married her teacher who she met at school.
Who is a fair bit older than her too.
Very happily married though, I must say.

AFAIK thats what a guy did not that long ago- was a cleaner tho at a school. Had a record/psych stuff going on back home- which was overseas.
Ended up raping and murdering a teacher about to go on LSL and get married. This happened just a few years ago.



Obviously an extreme case- but shows exactly the importance of getting thorough background checks on EVERYONE who works in a school.

I used to go into school on my own (recall days they were called)- schools are the most creepy places when theres no kids around, let me tell you that..

Re. offending taking place in schools- man or woman, they should be dealt with in exact same way.

AFAIK the prison terms for female teachers offending is no where near the amount of time a male offender would get. Both are completely inadequate tho- just look at Grace Tame's case for example.

nothing to shed really from a Perth perspective - will be interesting to see how he polls in the next election because I do know there’s a group that has formed to make sure it’s not forgotten at the next election.

I understand that the police can’t pursue the matter because she killed herself (passed away is the term media use), but it’s disgraceful that no one followed up her case because “they couldn’t travel to SA because of COVID to take her statement” - what a load of bullshit.

He could of, BUT he and the PM (the same guy who said in 2019 that all rape victims should be believed) have chosen not to hold an independent inquiry.

I believe there will be an article written in “The Saturday” paper this weekend that will be worth reading and has information that four corners weren’t able to release.

For anyone interested there will be a March for Justice on the 14th March in Perth and all other capital cities and some towns will hold one on March 15. The main focus will be the gathering in Canberra on the 15th

Because what is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Accusations and immediate judgement were tried in Salem in the late 17th century. Wasn’t the best idea as it turned out.

There is no chance now that the people allegedly responsible for these series of rape allegations will get a fair trial. Even if they do in court they have no chance in the court of public opinion. Hence why the media should shut its pie hole and let justice take its natural course.

But that won't happen.
Will also be used as a political point scoring exercise that heats up with each scrap of news. Utterly pathetic.

She didn't deny saying it. She just said she didn't say it in relation to the sexual assault allegations.

It's all good though according to ScoMo. It was said in private after all, and she did apologise to the staff members who heard her say it - just not to the person she insulted.
